These are some of the teachings of all faiths on morals and good characters.... Human beings means having greater responsibility than cats and dogs in the family, community and the world at large.

Hard saying ... Resist not. Thank you for this reminder. This Lent is beginning deeply ... I'm in a weakened state but I shall work not to resist. Lord, have mercy. May God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, when im on my knees before HIM, and grant me all things needful for my salvation. The original Church that The Lord anointed and gathered is still worshipping and empowered for our life, especially in these times when martyrdom is in every city around the world. The Orthodox Church continues to feed and clothe us in Holy garments as we use the armour of God to struggle and fight against the deception and wickedness of these days, Christ's Saints as our allies and who are not complete without us, neither we, them. Hebrews 11. Orthodox Christian Faith unchanged and active in Christ by The Holy Spirit since 33AD. Come and See !!

Hello there, the name that comes up there is not the name I was born with them of Russian Ukrainian Georgian heritage . Tolstoy is amazing translations are superb. I have one small argument. Are we truly meant to understand the big great Mysteries? Or, are we meant to feel the good Lord the great spirit, Muhammad Jesus, not the messenger of God but Buddha as well, among others.. just follow the Golden Rule, everything will be fine, but don't be foolish

God would not have allowed His son to be sacrificed/crucified if it was not the only way to be in relationship with us. If all roads lead to eternal life, Christ painful, brutal loss of His life was unnecessary ❤

Two different objects of the verb 'resist'. Mat 5:39 - Do not resist an evil person. Put up no resistance and don't retaliate. James 4:7 You are to resist the devil. When faced with the temptation to sin, that inner voice that tells you, 'It's OK. No one will know. Jesus will forgive you afterwards.' - any thought that gives permission to sin is the devil tempting you. Resist that with all your might; run away; break off the relationship; do whatever is needed to stop yourself. In Matthew the object is a real live person . In James it's the devil talking in your head. Of course if the real live person is encouraging you to sin, resist them in the same way. It strengthens your relationship with Jesus and it strengthens your character. I wish I'd thought of asking your question when l was much younger!

Unfortunately, what we have seen today on TV talkshows, entertainment, magazines, newspapers, billboards, high learning institutions..... Irreligious becomes religious. Religious becomes irreligious. Right according to God' Will becomes Wrong. Acts of Darkness becomes Light. The blind are misleading the blind. People have ears but cannot listen. The shepherds are asleep, the mountains are filled with lost sheep.

Could all the wars and justified killings taught in the dogma of the Orthodox Church be metaphorical in nature, applying to not only material reality but also to the inward preceded thought that was the impetus for the outward action. Tolstoy and the inner belief he created might not have shown the whole picture of the reality he was speaking to. By not connecting the thoughts and material counterpart which is our reality together you miss the congruency between the citizens role and the role undertaken unbeknownst to the sage. The citizen is the counterpart to the un manifest as the UN manifest is understood by Buddhist, Hindus, Christian Mystics, Indigenous Elders.

True pure love is Unconditional Love, cannot be found in glossy magazines, the Royals Weddings, Hollywood movies. Unconditional Love is the selfless service to others without seeking any returns for higher good in humanity. 🕉️🛐☸️✝️☪️☮️☯️🔯

Such an absolute view! So if darkness is synonymous with 'evil' (as you have suggested)... surely 'good' as in light metaphorically can both arise from it and also overcome it (?) 🤔 A wise man once told me that has (sometimes) been his experience.. Consider.. In Buddhist symbolism, the lotus represents good, light. example purity of the body, speech and mind, as if coming from and floating above the murky (dark) waters In short, 'evil' can sometime beget 'good' and similarly.. 'good' can sometimes beget 'evil'; and good/evil can also (as is more the case) beget good/evil respectively. Few, it nothing is ever absolute...

@@karlinguk true light is darkness transmuted into light. You can not have darkness if not for light. Does a shadow not follow one yet behold darkness beats just more darkness. Buddha said he was not the way. The Lord said, the words I speak are not mine yet those of he who sent me ( RTA not RTO for those with ears ) he said, I am the way & the bread of life.
