I love the skirt with the zipper. I don't think I'd make it with a button fly. Showing how you made the alterations, from muslin to pattern, was clear and very helpful.

Thanks for watching. I hope this video was informative. The zipper fly lies so much flatter than having jeans-type buttons down the front, which is nice. Also, it's so easy to close up rather than have to button several buttons. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I’m currently sewing this pattern as pants. I also did not do the button fly but did a zipper. I’m not a pocket girl, I have a pear shape and side or Jean type pockets just make me wider at my widest point so i usually don’t do any pockets, including back. So I didn’t see the problem you’re describing on the back pockets. I’m planning on attaching the waist this afternoon. Because of my pear shape and I’m kind of tall at 5’11”, I routinely make a bunch of adjustments. I’ll see how that back fits below the waist. I’ve made several Love Notions patterns and they usually have been ok. I’ve noticed on me they are short waisted even taking account of my longer waist, I add more to love notion’s waist than other brands. Your honest review of this pattern is great! I appreciate it.

You’re welcome! Let me know how your pants turn out and if you need to make adjustments. It might fit you perfectly. For my figure, I was happier with the waistband lowering in the back. I just couldn’t keep wearing them with that pooch/pucker back there. I’d be curious to know if you have that problem or not. Have fun finishing up this pattern!!!

Thank you and have subscribed. Glad you gave a detailed easy to see review. I’m similar to you and love the fact that the pocket facing goes all the way across to middle. Pockets look great. Could you do a fly zip insertion video? Also could you share the lace top pattern which looks great?
@SewDarnedFun Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! I had other requests for a video on a fly zipper insertion, so I'll get to working on that ;) As for the top, it was a purchased top. If you find a pattern that's similar, would you please let me know? I also love the top, and wouldn't mind having other, in different colors and such. Thanks for the comment and subscription!!!

I have this pattern and look forward to sewing it! Thank you for your non-biased review. I will look to see how this pattern fits my body. I have a bigger “back porch” and may not need to change the back waist band. Thank you for demonstrating the technique for a better back side fit. I can use this information in the future!

Thank you so much for watching. Everyone's individual shape is so unique. You never know if you might need to shorten that back area below the waistband! I'm so happy you found my review useful. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thank you for the unbiased review. I also have to make that same side seam adjustment on patterns. Why did it take YT so long to recommend your wonderful channel to me? It's right up my alley. The skirt is lovely. I really like the fabric.

I won’t use LN patterns anymore because of how the how the PDF is printed on the paper. It’s supposed to be easier because there’s no trimming, but I find this results in inaccurate pattern pieces because the printer paper doesn’t always feed exactly through the printer. It’s much better when a PDF pattern has a box printed on the page and one aligns the box edges. It’s too bad because I like some of these patterns.
@SewDarnedFun11 ай бұрын
That's a good point. I've noticed that my paper doesn't always feed exactly the same way on each sheet. So I line up the papers the way I know they should be. This would be the number one reason to have a pattern printed off at the kind of store that can handle large paper printing. I've yet to do it that way...no clue the cost. Some of the 'Indy' pattern companies have such cute patterns, with nice fitting hints and such, that I tend like them better than the big major pattern companies. Maybe sometime in the not too distant future there might be a standard of consistency in the way small pattern companies will have in the assembly of their patterns :) Thanks for posting your insight into why sometimes there's innacuracies in printing patterns at home. :) Until that time comes.....just KEEP ON SEWING!! ;)

So glad I found your channel. I am confused about one of the ratings: the difficulty level. Is the scale of 1-10 with 10 being “more” and 1 being less? I think your clarifying how 1-10 applies to difficulty would be helpful because it looks as 10 would be MORE difficult. I appreciate your showing the alterations on both the muslin and the pattern and how you did the waistband. Very helpful!
@SewDarnedFun Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your comment. When I rewatched my video, I had the same thought...that some might be confused regarding that rating. In the catagory of difficulty, I need to change the way I explain. A '10' will represent the 'most desireable', which obviously would be 'less difficult' in the ratings. Does that make any sense? I'll try and either re-do my future ratings, or explain in more detail what it means. In my endeavor to try and NOT make my videos arduous to watch (as I can see in my analytics when people stop watching...!) I try to keep it as short as I possibly can (even when I'm feeling long-winded). Thank you very much for taking the time to comment, and I hope you will keep watching and continue commenting!

I think you need a sway back adjustment. I don't think it has anything to do with the pattern, but your back might have more of a curve there.

Wished you would have shown how to put the fly in, I’m a new sewer
@SewDarnedFun Жыл бұрын
Oh no! I debated whether or not to show the insertion of a zipper. But because this was simply a pattern review, I felt this wasn't the place to show that. There are other places that do show how to put a zipper in. Look up 'Lifting Pins and Needles' on KZbin....I'm pretty sure that she shows how to insert a zipper!! Thanks for watching!! (And you've given me an idea for a future video...so thank you!)

SURPRISE you didn't test the waistband with the muslin. But, I'm curvy, so it might make more of a difference on me than someone more streamlined.
@SewDarnedFun Жыл бұрын
For sure! Lesson learned from me!!! 😆I think mine was more because of a sway-back, perhaps? I need less length just from the waistband through the upper portion of the center back. Curvy people can also have this issue, as I showed in a couple of the still pics I brought in. Next muslin of a pant or skirt you see me do WILL include a waistband! 😉

I’ve had trouble with there patterns before because there markings aren’t good , they assume you will know , very frustrating

Oh wow, really? I’m not very experienced with their patterns. I’ve probably only got 3 of them under my belt. This is the first time that I’ve noticed any problems with anything. But I DO have other patterns of theirs that I’ve purchased. Guess I need to make them up so I can see if I run into the same issues!

12.50 fir the pattern and 50.00 for paper and ink to ptint, lol
@SewDarnedFun Жыл бұрын
LOL! I guess one would have to consider how they intend to print out the pattern. You can indeed print it out at home, yourself, with printer paper (which is what I did). Or you can have it printed out at a business set up to print on large paper. In all honesty, I don't know the cost for that. I'm sure it didn't cost me anywhere near $50 to print it off myself. But your comment is humurous, and there is some labor involved in getting this pattern printed out, whichever way one decides!! ;)
@Sally-ih6ls Жыл бұрын
@@SewDarnedFun lol, yes i don’t think it’s 50.00 but here in Canada ink is quite expensive and no place in my area to print larger, however, I do use the love notions patterns, labour not a problem, find it relaxing to put them together and I do like them, thanks🤗
