On our way to the Schaumburg, IL NARBC (a large reptile show), we had to make an unexpected stop at the hospital. After Ed's emergency surgery, we completed the journey and still vended the show! What a crazy show this was!

PHEW, I am SO SO GLAD that Ed took his sudden stomach pain seriously, and DID NOT put off going to the doc until AFTER THE SHOW... That's what my dad would have done. He had an appendectomy too, but he waited like 4 full days of stomach pain before going to the doctor, and by then, it was too late to do it laparoscopically, so he got a big scar and had like a month recovery time... It made a great story years later, but as a lesson of what NOT to do. So thank you for taking your health seriously, Ed!

I put off stomach pain for a while but thankfully mine wasn't the appendix. ...it was my gallbladder. And it's been removed now. It's still not worth it even if waiting doesn't put you in a health emergency. I went through so much pain by putting things off until I couldn't bear it any more, and it could have been avoided by going in sooner instead of trying to guess what was triggering it.

Got that right! I had a similar situation two years ago, but for me it turned out to be my gallbladder and not my appendix. Was able to get it done laparascopically, super quick, in and out of the hospital same day. So glad he took it seriously!

Big props to Ed for going to the hospital when the stomach pain got bad and Emily for enforcing the doctor's orders post-surgery. Very glad the surgery went well and you were still able to do the show!

I laughed out loud when Ed called himself, "A young, healthy SPECIMEN!" What a great smile he has. I'm so glad you were able to get through that ordeal with no complications! A friend of the family had her 18 year old son in the hospital for a week because he developed sepsis after having his appendix out! I think it was inflamed and may have burst though....that always makes the surgery more risky. Thank Goodness Ed didn't have anything like that happen!!!!!!

I was terrified when I had my appendix out, too - not necessarily of the anesthesia, but the whole concept of surgery in general. Of course, I had also just read a medical thriller where people were “dying” during appendicitis surgeries, except they weren’t, they were being kept comatose but alive for a complicated organ harvest scheme, so as they began sedating me my panic over that book came out and I started crying and begging them not to harvest my organs. First thing the anesthesiologist said to me when I woke up was I had all my organs except the one I wanted them to take. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Rewatching this during online school. Forgot to mention, I've also had surgery before. I was twelve. I had a sudden stomach pain. I thought it was nothing, but my mom insisted on taking me to the hospital. It was an appendicitis. I'm ok now. Hope you're feeling better! (I really need to keep up on videos, I'm so late to a bunch of them.)

as soon as I saw this in my notifications i had to make sure youre ok. thank god. praying for u! This reminds me of when I had brain surgery. Im 14, and when I was 9, one evening my head really hurt like 9/10 hurt. Parents rushed me to the ER and after 2 hrs waiting for the doctor he was like, "she'll be fine. You can go home". My mom being my mom, said heck no and that they need to do an MRI. Thank god they did because they found out I had an AVM which is bacically in normal english, "tangle of malformed blood vessels that can pop and bleed... a lot." so basically the AVM popped and if we went home that night, I could have died. The stopped the bleeding and monitored it a lot. After a year, i finally got surgery to remove it. Watching your videos after surgery while recovering made it so much better! Thank you so much Emily and Ed.

I went to the ER July 1st for stomach pain so bad that I was throwing up. And found out I had to get my gallbladder removed. I got my surgery on the 23rd. They said I'd be in and out too, but the surgery was more complicated than they thought because my gallbladder was WAY worse than they thought. I'm glad Ed's surgery was quick and went as expected!

@@AngelWingsTVdavcs Wisdom teeth can cause some really weird health problems, especially if they come in at an angle or get stuck against the next tooth. A side effect I had is that, for some crazy reason, my sense of smell got slightly better after surgery. (I can only sense differences in the air and smell certain really strong scents, kinda still that way but a little less terrible. I don't recall a time where my nose ever worked outside really specific scenarios.)
