My Saab 9000 Aero

This is my Saab 9000 Aero which I have owned for about 3 years. It is my most often driven car. I daily it to work and for errands. It is not my nicest car, but It is pretty good. I love the way it drives and the comfort the interior provides.

That 9000 is awesome! I grew up in a SAAB family...Saab Saab Saab since the 1960s. We probably had 30 Saabs between my Mom and Dad, my brother, my sister and me. Dream Saab... 900 Turbo SPG...but I'll take a 9000 Aero too!!! You know what, I'll take both of those, but also throw in a two door 9-3 Viggen and later model year 9-5 wagon!! I really miss SAAB and the family feeling we all got from it. My car was a 1972 '99 in 1984. Two years later, a '73 96V4. Followed by a '77 99 that had about 300k miles on it and was spray painted mat black. We called it "the bomber". None of these Saabs lasted all that long for me because I was a kid in high school and college and didn't have any money. After the Bomber died on me one freezing night in February of '88 on the Massachusetts turnpike...it was time the buy something fairly new...'84 VW Rabbit 4 speed. Which I put about 250k miles on it over the next 9 years. Followed by VW Golf GTI, 2 VW Eurovans, 4 VW Vanagons, New beetle convertible in '03, '92 Rabbit Cabriolet. Yep. Loved the VWs. But that's in part because when I was a kid, not only did we drive the safest vehicles on the road (Saabs), but the most dangerous: VW Busses. Hahahahaaa. Both so unique. I hope you will enjoy your SAABs for many years. I miss SAAB. If they were still around, I'd probably be working in a dealership somehow. Peace!

One of Saabs best and most underrated cars. Fast, safe, handles like a car half its size and the.most comfortable seats ever fitted to any car. I had a 2 litre 9000 Carlsson turbo for 16 years and I really wish I had never sold it.

I had an exactly the same car for 9 years. I miss it still. I got so much issues with it in the end, and I couldn't afford to fix it. And I didn't had the room for it just standing, so I sold it to a young Saab nerd in hope it would be fixed. I drove a 9-5 (aero equipped) for a while when I had the 9000 aero standing. And it was a nice car also. But one day I had to move my 9000 for some reason. When I sat down in it and started it was like coming home. So I drove around the block and realized how super nice they are to drive compared to the later Saab models. Maybe I get one again before I die. :D

I was driving down a country road the other day and something fell out of a tree onto my car and now I have a ding on the front of my hood. Only ding on the car. I felt sick about it. These really are nice cars.

@@kconatymd Many years I did work at Saab in Trollhättan. Once I saw an old timer there that could fix such damage on a painted hood with just a little hammer an a little wood stick, from the outside of the hood. Not a scratch in the paint, and you could not feel or see any damage afterwards. That was he's work for like 30 years straight.

Lovely 9000 Aero you have there (even if it's an Auto), the red colour is very rare here in Australia, the most popular seems to have been black or silver when sold. I've only ever seen one red example. The seats in the Aero are amazing, look after her. All the best.

Your last post seems to be 2 years ago (like my reply to it). I've finally bought a stunning 1997 silver, 5-speed manual. I'm only the third owner with the previous two being passionate owners so everything is up to date re services etc. I feel very fortunate in getting this well cared for SAAB 9000 Aero.

I've heard that this car is a least desired among 6 SAABs you have. Also you were talking about 9-5. Do you value your 9-5 higher than 9000 Aero? 😳 Very strange taste to be honest 😀

What did you do to clean up the motor so nicely? Ive been working on reviving a 1996 CSE that I got super cheap. I motor swapped it with a 1995 Aero and TD04 but would love if it looked a little cleaner like yours! I didnt have time to do the cleaning with the motor out because of a time crunch

You could have just repaired the original cluster. The fault is the Lead Free Solder that Saab used on CS models. When it gets old little micro cracks appear in the solder. So you just have to re-flow every solder joint on the dash cluster. There are about 40 in total so its not a bad job.

I owned a Carlson SPG and a 9000 Aero among many Saabs including a 72 99. The Aero with a slight tune was an absolute rocket ship. To this day it’s got the most comfortable seats ever created. Miss you SAAB 😢

Very nice car! The first car I bought as an adult was a 1987 9000s. Wonderful cars As you listed the things that needed attention it brought back memories-those were the things I needed to repair and replace in my 9000s. I also had to put in a new heater core and coolant radiator. The car never left me stranded in many trips across the USA. Preventative maintenance really matters with these cars.

Everything works, but had to replace the ACC with a used unit.
