Salty chip-The bigger the number the bigger the hole is in the fuel jet. #99 carb jets are massive for most motors. They would make the motor run horrible because it would get too much fuel.

​@@SaltyChip It the size of the fuel jet that goes in a (Holley) carburetor. Its part of tuning a carbureted engine (choosing jet size, then playing with the metering screws to "dial in" your air/fuel mix. Aa 99 is ridiculously large for most all applications.

It's got to be infuriating to be one of the other racers that were slower then old Cleetus. It's literally his second jet boat race ever and had a motor down on power. And you could eventually have east versus west races In the winter time in sunny Florida when all the West Coast tracks are shut down Just look at how popular mini jet boats are now especially & mainly since he’s posted all his videos. Now there’s at least 15 companies building jet boat four years ago I looked into buying one there was only a few companies and not a lot of options now the skys the limit with jet boats. That just shows how in a small period of time with the right exposure you could take jet sprint boats which Have only been been in the US since about 97 and have a massive following which brings the people & money which builds the tracks

A trick I learned with high g forces and carburetors, put a peice of fuel line connecting both vents, and a t at the top facing up, will help keep from sloshing fuel into the throat of the carb. Only thing I could think of when it was only dying out on the corners

That’s racing. Mistakes are made in them all. Kevin of all guys has a ton of driving experience and still caused the big one. Honestly I think the track was a little too much for a Crown Victoria for the trim in which they were raced. I hate to say it, but damn. You’re taking a passenger car, albeit a tough SOB of a passenger car with a minimal cage and safety equipment otherwise and risking a guy eating the wall head-on at nearly 100 MPH. I bet (and hope) we see the Bristol 1000 2023, but I’d venture to guess the trim we see the cars in is quite different. I will say that I’m thankful no one was hurt aside from some bruises, and bruised egos, and I’m evermore impressed with how the ole Crown Vics protected the drivers. A couple guys and gals ate shit as they t-boned the wall.

Cleetus - Wow!! That's insane!!! Only thing ever raced was Late Model for 2 yrs at Spartan Speedway - Mason MI, but your boat racin' scared the hell out of me just watchin' it! Me & Buddy Harry built car as he had said had payin' customer for it. Drove over on hauler we built from '34 Chevy wrecker, but that fine piece-a-iron overhet so could only go 50mph so late to track. Asked Harry's Buddy Gene if drivin' car but laughed at me. He said it was Harry's car, so was himself the mystery owner. Harry unlocked his compartment in hauler & pulled out fancy helmet w/my name on it, Nomex drivin' suit, gloves, shoes, and goggles. Harry pulled out his application for me as Driver w/"Dad's" signature already on it, Gene signed as 1 driver & scurried off to get 2 more & I is qualified! Car never driven except on-off trailer, so Track Owner said OK to race but no warm-up. For permission to race had to be within' tolerance of current track record for class, so effed up royal. Thing was I set track record, so time out of OK zone. Owner splained it to fans, but said as Owner he could let me race, but that would be with fans voting me up. He polled Nays w/just a good boo, and entire late model pits booed. Asked for Yeas and entire fannage cheered! They weren't my friends yet or nuthin', but had never seen a fast car around there in past 4 yrs I had been goin'. Anyway, got fastest qualifier, won fast car dash, heat race, and feature!! Harry acted not surprised, but I sure as hell was. I was still 5 yrs a minor but learned w/"Dad's" signature could go far! Congrats on your sprint boat racin', & bein' a Winner so soon surely a record! Cleetus, Cleetus, he's our man, haulin' serious azz as fast as he can, YEA Cleetus!!!

Cletus is extremely impressive in how he can jump into just about any race vehicle and do a fantastic job with so little practice time. Wow! Whenever I've had a carbureted engine behave like that, it has pretty much always been low fuel pressure/fuel flow. Basically you get a temporary surge of power when you hit the throttle but if you're demanding more fuel than the fuel system can provide, shortly after the surge it runs lean and loses power (often it is just a dirty fuel filter). I assume they checked that the fuel pressure isn't dropping under load so it probably is something else.

What the announcer guy leaves out is that This Cleetus new boat racer guy must see this as a slow course concidering Mullet runs 6's at 200.. You're a diver with HUGE and Earned skills. The FREEDOM FACTORY outback will end up with a water track and everyone of Cleetus's buddies will start building these things. It will become the Freedom Factory Wet Track Drift Park. I wonder if you can have Ford commission into production a Crown Vic version of these puppies??? Man you and Spence make that look easy. That boat is chined just perfect. Yeah it kinda makes me wonder if for some stupid reason they have traditional float bowls in the carburetor instead of a willys super bowl style setup

Rules mandate a 4150 or 4160 carb, so no super bowls
