Cool video and thanks for giving that up Randy! In the early to mid 90’s we used to fishing that bait in crystal clear smallmouth water(using those brighter colors that SM love) and would do great! We called it “ripping” the bait. Loving all the jerkbait videos, keep em coming. Thanks again.

I have the 11 & 13... same color. I love those og floaters, and have used them mostly as a topwater presentation with peculiar success. For some reason I feel confidence in those lures early, with light to no wind. Thanks a bunch for the mod tip!

I think I have a couple of these big Rapalas, they have always made great lures. Thanks Randy for sharing this information!!

I remember that! Best part of this channel is the nostalgia. I joined a BASS Club in the late 70’s and won my first club tournament on an AC Shiner. Me and jerk baits go way back.

AC Shiners are fantastic. I love the little 300 series. Super buoyant, so they kill in warmer months when you dance them along just under the surface. It's a totally different presentation than what Randy is talking about, but is just another old school lure that is in my go-to box. So there's some juice from this subscriber!

Im surprised. The only year that I ever fished tournaments, 1985, this technique brought me $. Thousands actually. I used it with the 18 and with some rebel striper lures. You are spot on when you say, in the right condition. I am surprised that this cat was let out of the bag. You wont believe my stories with this technique on the California Delta. Randy I hope a few guys incorporate your advice. This falls right in to my 4 decade study on bite triggers. Big fish hunters look in!

Watched Doug Hannon use this type of lure for big big Florida bass! Picked up a few different colors. Now I can get em modified! Thx Randy.

Never used that big boy. Before Megabass and other companies came out with better jerkbaits, I used that color Rapala Husky Jerk with lead and used to crush it. Great video!

If you have lots of pike in the water it definitely is one of my favorites. Swapping out to 4x gamakatsus or weighting it is a must though. Fishing that lure over grass great but it is also amazing night time bait.

Best tip at the very end, you've got to know the when, where and the conditions. That comment applies so much to every day out on the water every spot and every bait. I'll probably never throw that big rapala but the when, where and the conditions are the big take-away

Love that jerkbait juice Randy. I want to also say, because it seems not many youtubers talk about this, but Rapala makes a few good jerk baits, my favorite is probably an X-rap but a Husky jerk is pretty good too. I own MB JBs also and they do have great action, hardware and tuning but from time to time I will run into certain Rapala JB's (not all) but from time to time I will buy a Rapala and it will have action that is just insane and their hardware is decent and they will be balanced perfectly too, I don't know how or why they all aren't so effective but when I do get one that is such good quality I hold on as tight as I can. Just sayin.

Great old school bait. I caught my first bass on it fun fishin' for pike. Dad's hard bait 90% of time; he liked the 3 trebles.

If you use a rapala floater at night, on the surface during summer - even on high pressure park lakes .They will come up and strike.No bait has a stronger vibration than a rapala reeled slow on the surface.
@mr.skeptical30712 жыл бұрын
I absolutely hate jerk bait fishing! I never throw them. But I absolutely love throwing the big rapala minnows in FL. I fish it on top, then if they don't hit it, I slowly crank it in and give it a few twitches on the way back in
