We need to normalize announcing someone's (insert life event here) for them if they insist on trying to use your (insert life event here) to make their announcements. i.e. I want to announce my pregnancy at your wedding. Nope, I'll just announce it at the next family gathering or on social media for you if you keep insisting.

Who tells someone they are planning to get revenge?? The sister is disgusting. Don't invite her to wedding and go completely NC. You gave her 15K and she's being this rude and getting angry OP is threatening to disinvite her. She deserves to be disinvited and the relationship completely severed.

Right! the sister is acting like a child that held onto a grudge, which OP paid for already, just to wait till its OP's wedding to get revenge... This is just sick... If this is her mindset then it wouldn't matter if it was a pregnancy announcement or not, she would have found some way to "ruin" OP's wedding to get her "revenge" as she calls it... Uninvite her because it sounds like she will disturb the wedding no matter what they do to foil her... I wouldn't take the chance... (Poor guy did NOTHING to his future "SIL" and she still wants to punish him in place of someone who is not in any of their lives anymore... What a welcome to the family...)

@@fluidwolf It makes me wonder if her family knows about the money OP paid her sister? (If they do BIG AHs ALL of them!!!) Yea, she shouldn't have had to pay but she did already so I'm coming at it from that angle because she literally paid her sister and her sister still thinks she has to get even more pay back for something that has been water under the bridge for awhile now... NC sounds better and better the more you think about it because the implications of what the sister wants to do says she was never "over it" and who knows what else she is not over yet...

Right? Like OP went above and beyond to make up for HER EX's mistake. It's not even like sister can say she got no justice. She did, and then some. I'm honestly sympathetic to vengeful behaviour but this deserves no sympathy.

S1: The thing is, to a normal person, taking care of three families is exhausting and draining. Taking care of one is hard enough, but three is practically impossible without something imploding. Which means, he ENJOYED keeping all those women in the dark. Cheaters love the thrill of duping other people and getting away with their behavior, so to him, this was probably a four-year-long adrenaline rush that he was getting a kick out of. He actively maintained this whole facade because the chaos MADE him happy. OP was right to leave him; cheaters don’t have any place in a home.

Story 2: When does OP finally pay the debt she "owes" her sister for something was out of her control? She already rejected him, dumped him, and paid $15k, but now she also needs to let her sister get her petty revenge? When does it stop? This reminds me of my sister and I when we were little kids roughhousing and I'd accidentally tap her too hard, so I'd give her a freebie hit, but rather than giving one equal hit she'd whomp me hard, then go for hair, then windmill me, scratch, etc. until Mom pulled us apart. The revenge here isn't equal to the offense (which wasn't her fault anyway.)

OP was foolish to stay with this guy after learning about his engagement to Amanda, but there's nothing that can be done about that now. I would also like to add that I do not believe in this whole concept of, "they're a bad spouse but a great parent" -- no, they are not a great parent. Hurting your child's other parent is harmful to the child by extension, or at the very least, is at risk for being so. Your kids are connected to their other parents and how you treat that parent effects them too, so no, there is no such thing as a guy who cheats on his wife but is a "great dad" imho.

OP did what most brides and grooms would want in this situation and beyond. Rejecting the proposal publicly and dumping him definitely would have let the vast majority of newlyweds know OP or anyone else in this situation was sorry it happened. Covering $15k of the wedding afterwards is beyond what most people would expect and is one of the ultimate signs that you are sincerely regretful of what happened. NTA and the sister needs to move on. Also OP's new fiancee had absolutely nothing to do with this proposal. She wants to ruin his wedding for something he had no part in. Not a good way to officially welcome him into their family.

Unfortunately, for OP she doesn't have the loving family she thinks she has. The fact the sister even accepted the $15,000 in the first place is disgusting. The OP had no choice in what happened at the sisters wedding. That there is all this hard feelings years later with the rest of her family joining in is hateful. Story 2: it’s wild that OP’s sister has harbored this for years. It’s unhinged to just bide your time waiting for the day that you can “get revenge “ on someone who didn’t actively do anything to you. It’s not OPs fault that her ex proposed at sister’s wedding. He just did it on his own. Even though OP wasn’t at fault she felt bad enough to try to make amends by paying for half of the wedding. At some point enough is enough. Their parents should tell the sister there is no need for revenge and to get that thought out of her head.

Last story, work out your 15k with interest and then bill her an additional quarter of your wedding for the insult to the innocent party (half of your fiancé's half). Knock it together as an invoice and call it her pregnancy announcement fee. Tell her that the 15k was for the damage your ex caused to your relationship and since she's planning on doing the same kind of drama that deal is now null and void and that since your fiance is innocent in all this here's his bill for emotional damages.

And for those who have been married happily for decades 🎊 Congratulations 🎊 just like to add the timing makes a difference, so if you've been married for 10,20,30 etc..times were different the values, morals and even family mattered we are living in strange times, but I love love so to those who've found their one continued happiness and blessings, for those who are looking... love yourself enough to find your complimentary other half and never settle. Otherwise Mark may have some more stories to read 😉

In cases like the first story I always recommend getting in touch with relatives. If you're stuck in another city or country you can have your family try and get you a ticket to move back to a place near family who will support you. If that is not an option I recommend looking into places you can stay at and programs that can support you.

If anything she was actually the mistress in the story, not the way around. She knew that... But now she's sad that it's affecting her negatively when she had no problem being a marriage wrecker herself... Hoe got her karma if you ask me. The second she found out he was actually already in a relationship with Amanda the right thing to do would have been to tell Amanda and then exit the situation gracefully.

OP's ex-husband was engaged to Amanda for the first 11 months of their relationship, making OP his affair partner, yes. he broke it off w Amanda and proposed to OP around the same time. - BUT - OP didn't find out she had been the other woman until 7 months after the wedding and ex hand-waved it away w "i knew you were The One but i was so afraid to hurt Amanda bc we'd been together so long and she really loved me". i wish OP had seen through his bullshit and realized he was just a serial cheater right then and there. just to make it clear, she did not know he had been engaged to someone else while dating her until months after the wedding, but yes she chose to believe his words and stay after that.

Story 1. OP, GET A GOOD LAWYER!!!Divorce your husband, get as much money as you can (child support, emotional damages) and NEVER allow unsupervised visits. As your MIL covered up for him, she DOES NOT deserve to be the grandma to your children. Story 2. OP, include your sister pregnancy information in YOUR speach!!! That way she will have the announcement but you will be in control.
@pansprayers
@pansprayers 2 жыл бұрын
You mean, get a good attorney who understands that 'emotional damages' aren't a term used in family court, and do what they - not what Kalina who has no idea what Kalina is talking about - tells you to do? Unless you can prove that he did, in fact, apply for a second or third marriage licence, this isn't going to be enough grounds for you to demand supervised visits. And your insistence on playing hardball with the grandmother will only piss a judge off further. You can't have both pieces of advice hold true here.

Story 1: Advice Companies don't want to be associated with pseudo-polygamists; especially in upper management, like a VP. Offer him an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) in exchange for generous alimony. Story 1. I find it somewhat strange that friends of 20+ years didn't say something about the serial cheater earlier. They've known him for so long and barely decided to say anything about it only after OP found out herself. He's been cheating for years and those friends just stood by and let it happen. I think it's nice that they decided to help after OP after the divorce, but they could've saved OP so much heartache. At least OP got out of that relationship and living her best life.
