I had two pairs of those Grado non-hemps. I thought they were dull with no treble. I thought EVERY headphone was dull with no trouble. Eventually I had a hearing test and the doc said I was dang close to deaf. I guess that explains why all the audio work I've done professionally gets sent back at least once with the note "This is WAY too hot and hissy". Seriously. I was making stuff sound good to ME. But I can't hear treble so I cranked the ultrasonics. I produced audio professionally? Oops. I STILL do. Don't tell.

@FriedEgg1013 жыл бұрын
To be fair, you're not meant to get an accurate representation of what each headphone actually sounds like, but rather hear some difference between them using the headphones/speakers you have. I'm listening on speakers and can hear that the brown Koss are the most bass-light, followed by the HD600, then the Meze, then the LCD2. Using this I can tell that I'd probably prefer the LCD2 over the HD600, even though I've heard neither irl.

You'd be amazed how many headphones today can't get mids right. Listened to V-Moda LP2 recently, and i was ANGRY at their lack of musicality. I'd rather listen to shitbrown KOSS from 60 years ago, or to 30 year old Walkman headphones. Also magnets don't stay magnets forever, they lose that magnetism gradually. Whatever organic material the membrane is, it might have not fared the best either. There's a chance that they sounded slightly better when they were made.

Every pair of headphones I've had before has, eventually, broken just from regular use (usually the cable splitting or one side dying before the other, but also fucking shit plastic -- avoid steelseries and logitech, they eventually shatter); and trying to repair them was *not* worth the grief. When *something* eventually goes wrong, the fact I can just get replacement parts and fix it myself without having to deal with shitty, creaky, aging plastic is music to my ears.

Also, for persons where this plant is still a controlled substance: Hemp is the non-flowering stage of the plant whete it is considered "infertile" & "male"; it is only once the plant "becomes female" where it produces the flowers we all know and the seeds we all like to pick out. Hemp being a rather strong, easy to grow, and fibrous crop (Its called weed for a reason) ; was set to offset the paper & lumber industry in the 50&60s here in America, and is the primary reason (many believe) why BOTH forms of the plant became controled by the DEA until recently. That being said, regardless of it drug usage, hemp has always been a great crop, with many old ships sails and rigging being made from the fiber, and many of the founding colonists/fathers grew it alongside their tabacco farms because it would fetch comparable prices in England. One urban legend in the United States of how the crop was found to have psychoactive properties is that Native Americans would have found the plants amoung other brush, using it as tinder and fuel for their fires, with its smell and its arguable "contact-high-effect", it was only a matter of time before they tried it in their tabacco pipes.

Watching this video again and watching the Mezes makes me think about how so many companies will usually sell the best, personally inspected stuff out to reviewers, sometimes even sending products that are better than what the consumer would recieve, all to put their absolute best foot forward. It's obvious here that these are just the same headphones that anyone else would get from the company, which really shows just how confident they are in their products.
