my shallow well Water pump wont build pressure

Thank you so much! Your time and effort saved me hundreds. My jet pump can constantly at 20psi. Fearing a water line froze and was leaking under the house, I crawled around underneath in sub zero temperatures. Woo-hoo, no leaking. Changed the pressure switch. No change. Checked for prime. Prime was good. Checked pressure tank. All good. Frustrated, and frickin cold, I went to KZbin and found your tutorial. You’re a Godsend! I’m back in business, warm, and sipping a gin and tonic to you!

Was that the problem? mine gets up to about 30 psi won’t shut off should get up to 50psi

Thank you! You saved us time and money and headache! Our pump was running but not building pressure and not moving water. We cleared all the openings and primed it and it's working again! It was a brand new pump 2 years ago, only used in the summers to water the garden. I was NOT looking forward to replacing it so soon!

Your video helped me out a lot. After changing my pressure switch hose I think I inadvertently pushed some sediment into the pump housing and then it ended up clogging the jet. I took the little screw off and tried cleaning but it didn't help - my pump would only pump up to 30psi max. After messing with it for hours I found your video, and saw your idea of flushing out more water through it, so I tried one more time, cleaned the jet by sticking an airbrush pipe cleaner in there and then poured water from the top until it came out where the jet screw was. Tried again, and it pumped to 40psi, so I knew I was on the right track. Took the screw off yet again, cleaned it, flushed it, and now it's pumping up to 50-60psi no problem. Thanks for your vid!!!

Check your injector at bottom of the well if its a twin pipe system

I would like to ask if you could help us because the gauge of our water pump is set to turn on at 20 psi and to turn off at 40...but we saw it yesterday and it became 10 to start and then turns off when it goes up until 20...we don't know what happened why the gauge measures changed. Thank you for the help in advance...

Well, it could be several things, the gauge itself could be bad, or they could be debris stuck in the backside of it, which is causing the reading to be incorrect. The only other thing that I can think of is the controller itself that is set to come on at a certain pressure off the appropriate pressure, it’s hard to tell from a distance. I hope this helps.

I commented as my other channel, but as I was saying, it could be debris stuck in the back of the gauge, causing the reading to be incorrect or the gauge itself could be bad other than that the only other thing I can think of is the controller itself? Is your water pressure any different than before? If not, then I’m guessing it could be your gauge, but like I said without actually being there, it’s very hard to tell. I hope this helps.

You’re welcome, it certainly could save you several hundreds of dollars if this is the problem and can be fixed without buying a new pump. This is common for an older pump has been around for a while it has a lot of iron in there well they can build up quickly as well

Trying to fix ours on Christmas. Our pipe burst and we fixed that but the pump was running for probably an hour. Got it fixed, turned the pump on and no pressure. Turned it off and it goes to 5PSI but on it drops to 0. No water in faucets. Not sure what to do. Pressure switch looks good. We have a spring and a Goulds Jet Plus.

@@shanesmaineshop yes sir. I did. Tried again today and pump is 0psi on and 25 off. I have no idea. Tank is empty but I hear water running through the lines when I cut power. Tested the pressure switch with a voltage meter, everything is good. I'm at a loss. Going on day 3 with the wife cussing me and no water. Lol

@@livingthedash6727 Do you have a Spicket right close to the pump? And if so when the pump is running if you turn that on do you get full pressure of water coming out? The only reason I’m asking is I wonder if you’re just not getting water out of your well or at least not enough to build pressure. Also I’m sure you already have but another thing to check is to make sure there’s absolutely no air leaks on the intake side that could cause a similar situation is this as well. Sorry I having trouble during the holiday season. Hopefully you’ll get it fixed soon.

Me and my dad are trying to prime a jet pump our old pump went and we bought a used one on marketplace, we have it full of water, it sounds like it wants to go but then it gets loud and doesnt build any pressure, you can hear water moving around once the pump is turned off again. the water is trying to move. Any ideas? Basically it wont prime but yet its full of water as is the intake line.

It’s really hard to say, it could be many things. Number one I would make sure there is no leaks on the suction side you won’t see water but if it’s sucking any kind of air it will have a hard time priming and building pressure. Not sure how old the pump is or used it is but it could just be no good. One thing I will check is when it is running do you have a Fossett nearby you can open to see if it’s pumping plenty of water but just not building pressure?

@quilcene1 It’s hard to say but the pump could be bad the impeller can still be spinning but not necessarily pump water if the seals and stuff are bad. It could be many different things you could have an air leak somewhere. Sorry I can’t give you a specific answer it’s hard to say at a distance.

Yes we have private shallow wells, that pumps the water out of the ground and builds pressure in a tank which then distribute it throughout the house.
