I'm living in Russia from past 3 years. It's an emerging economy, infrastructure is pretty good, people are generally honest and straight forward. There are many Indians here who come for work or tourism but very little to no Pakistanis travel to Russia. This is why 99% of the Russians I meet including my colleagues, I was the first Pakistani they ever interacted with. However, passport is at the weaker side and there is big language barrier.

Hello Muzammil, I am so glad to see you back! I lived in Moscow for last seven months as a full-time and fully funded Masters student at Higher School of Economics (HSE) and right now I am pursuing my studies online from Pakistan as Russians have developed very convenient hybrid education systems. You are absolutely right about the weather as we experienced -23℃ - to -27℃ in peak winters 😅 Moscow is not at all poor or facing any sort of financial constraints at least at this point in time. Their state is very generous, especially for students and do not shy away even from giving 500,000 - 700,000 PKR per annum to international and Pakistani students as need and merit based scholarships, besides other benefits like cheap transportation and much discounted entertainment. They have brilliant infrastructure and cleanliness with state of the art education and research facilities. I hope you got a chance to explore the undoubtedly advanced and alluring underground metro system in Moscow. ☺

I live in Tbilisi, Georgia as a med student and you are right about meeting new people and expanding your worldview. On my last hike there were lots of Russians and I got the opportunity to talk to them about their lives and Russia itself. What I realized at the end was that the global south has a lot of commonalities in terms of our culture and the events going on in our country and that we all are trying to achieve the same thing. That could be a better life, more freedom. The Russians spoke of increasing restrictions on civil liberty which we have also seen in Pakistan in the past couple years. There was an Italian teaching Italian as a 2nd language who has taught Italian to refugees coming from South Asia, including Pakistan.

Having lived in Russia for the past six years, I've witnessed firsthand its remarkable growth and potential. It's truly one of the best countries to experience, especially considering its emergence on the global stage. Spending the last six years in Russia has allowed me to see its impressive transformation and emergence as a powerhouse. It's a nation steeped in rich history and culture, and I consider it one of the finest places to call home. The progress and potential here are palpable, making it an exciting time to be part of this vibrant country.

Despite of sanctions Pakistanis are smuggling chocolates, solar panels, generators, room coolers and lot of other stuff from Iran which are actually more affordable and good in quality than Pakistani products. It’s all about mentality and creativity. Our government focuses least on R&D and manufacturing and thus wasting the youth power.

I came across another KZbinr who is encouraging young people to consider moving to Russia. His name is Zeeshan Usmani and he made a video about how to move to Russia. In the video, he talks about the different types of Russian visas and mentions that Pakistanis tend to limit their options to the USA or Europe, even though there are over 200 countries in the world. He also points out that there is a high demand for workers of all types in Russia, but for some reason, people don't seem to want to go there. He finds it surprising that so few Pakistanis - only 8,000 - live in Russia. After watching your video, I feel even more excited about the possibility of moving to Russia. Thanks for the great insights!
