I've been an advocate of the same skincare since I was 15, cleanse/exfoliate/spf, and I always get compliments on my skin. You don't need expensive products, you just need to be consistent with cleansing and using a daily spf and just like my nan you'll have fabulous skin when you're 80! Once again an incredibly useful, informative video. You are such a well-spoken, interesting, beautiful person and you are a joy to watch! You should be really proud of yourself Ruth!

Watched this video years ago and still come back to look at it from time to time! My mother has done the back of the hand trick (along with thicker hand creams as she has aged) and she said her hands have no sign of aging. But her sister (who is one of those naturally perfect skin people who never really took care of their skin) who is only 18 months her junior, is starting to show signs of aging on her hands. These tips are great and really work! Take it from my 70 year old mom! Thank you!

Oh, one more comment...sorry Ruth but I learned from a skin therapist, (something I have always done anyway) Take all your face products right around to the back of your neck too!!! If the back of the neck gets slackened, it causes the front of the neck to then slacken too. I also go all the way down the front of my chest. I find it quite helpful to consider the whole of the upper body and not just the face and front of neck. Another superb video. Thanks Ruth. xx

I'm a new cleansing balm convert and I am so happy! I have had sallowish, dull skin with red patches around my nose for a while now (really oily when I was younger). My upper lip was really crepe-y and made me almost look like lip lines were starting to form. I found Boots Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm at Target (US) and have been using it for 1 week along with my usual retin-a, serums, chemical exfoliant, etc. MY skin looks so dewy and glowy in exactly the way I want it to and often faked with highlighting powder or cremes. I have oily tendencies anyway, until this sallowness got really bad in the last 1 or 2 years. I tried my old Neutrogena wipe when I was in a rush one morning and my skin was cree-y around my lips by afternoon. I'm do the Clarisonic on a first cleaning at night about every 3 days now. In short, my skin is no longer patchy dry with oily nose and eyelids but is now more hydrated. Sounds contradictory but seriously. Thanks, Ruth! Can't wait to try some fancier cleansing balms! xoxo from Tennessee, USA

People seriously, 32 is not that old .. What the hell does the 32 year olds you meet look like?? Honey Boo Boo's mom?? Most 30 something women where I am from looks as old as she does, I would have guessed she was 27-28 and I wasn't at all surprised at her being 32. Not saying she isn't good looking, she's gorg - but most women who take care of themselves have nice skin for a long time.

Toner is incredibly important in a skin care routine. The point of a toner is not to cleanse more,but to return your skin's pH to normal. When you wash your face,your skin becomes Basic,a toner will restore the acidity to your ski,which will help it keep elasticity and clarity.

microfiber cloths for exfoliation and oil/balm cleansing! I have ALWAYS moisturized my neck and chest... even when I started skincare at about 16, I did this because I have seen so many older women with nice faces and spotty, saggy necks and chests... so why not moisturize there too ?!

I'd love to be able to afford all these products to make my skin clearer, as I'm fairly oily and acne prone, but its just not possible as a student. So i tend to take the top layer of make up off with a make up wipe, then cleanse with the Yes to Tomatoes daily clarifying cleanser (that you recommended Ruth), then use a toner, then use a moisturiser. My skin got quite bad earlier this month, so I went to my GP and he prescribed me an antibacterial gel to put on my face at night which is fab!

Hi Ruth, To begin with i am not a blog/vlog follower but i must admit that i am hooked on your channel. I also use and try to find the best products for my skin care. I basically use top/high priced products in all range of skin care and needless to say i also like French pharmacy products as you have mentioned before. And i must say i get so many comments on my good skin. But what i am really concerned about lately the cancerogen agents in cosmetics. As i am a medical doctor it started worrying me so much as i read the scientific articles about the effects of these chemicals. I started asking myself if we are really paying loads of money to use these cancerogens loaded cosmetics! So i made a list of those dangerous chemicals that has been published but at he same time i also come up with articles that proves them wrong. Besides the randome websites that popped up in google search, I used pubmed and society of toxicology databases, however both left me in a dilemma! So what do you think about it? Would you care of shooting a video about this issue? Should we just stop using all the great products that we are actually seeing the good effects on? Or if we continue using them how would they effect our health on the long run?! Thanks in advance and i hope for the best for the new year.

If you are worried about the PH balance of your skin for using Alpha H, as a matter of basic science, you may want to consider the effect of using tap water on your skin to wash off your cleanser immediately before applying. A lot of dermatologists mention the use of tap water as a real 'con' of using cleansing balms (as well as the inclusion of mineral oil as an ingredient in many). Lovely video though.

I used Dr. Hauschka formany years. I had the face oil for my problem skin, and instead of using it in the morning (couldn't use make-up on top of the oil!) I used it at night after the toner. I have recently discovered Ponds Cold Cream as a cleansing balm, removed with a wash cloth. I am 54 and I have to say I am so impressed with the results - my skin so smooth and pores have diminished. What are your thoughts?
@wellythief11 жыл бұрын
Well, you are usually sleeping around 8 hours per night. During that time, your skin doesnt sleep. You might be sweating and the products that you put on your skin before going to sleep are all absorbed by the time you wake up. So you need to prep your skin again for the day :) I dont think you can overcleanse. Try using a light cleanser, nothing too harsh if you are worried.

Hi Ruth, I was wondering what your thoughts are on completely natural products. For example I've been using pure tomato juice, sometimes mixed with honey, for my spots, and it seems to be working, especially on blackheads. Do you ever use anything like that?
@babablacksheepdog11 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the cream. You were probably allergic to one of the ingredients. That doesn't mean all eye creams will do that to you. You should always test a product on a small patch of skin (e.g. on your wrist) before you start using it. If a couple of hours after application, you haven't had any problems like a rash or itchiness, it generally means it's ok for you to use. It would be a good ides to take an allergy test, too. It will tell you what you're allergic to so you can avoid it.
