I almost fell off my chair......do my ears/eyes deceive me? Am influencer who is not trying to get me to buy 100's of dollars (or pounds) worth of products. Who loves a zillion different items and says to all of them "this is the best". Thank you Ruth, women and especially young women have to hear this more often--that you don't have to pay so much for products to get the same result. Best thing--stay out of the sun-I have basked in the sun as many times as a nun has gone into a bar. Then make sure you clean your skin and moisturize. Eat well , enjoy life as best you can. I am 62 and truly have hardly any lines. Only found Retinol in my 30's also. Didn't moisturize much till I was in my late 40's===so it is never too late:)

I think keeping our skin care as simple as possible is such a great tip. I just turned 48 and taking care of my skin is and always has been a top priority. And it doesn't have to be an extreme 17 step routine. Thanks for sharing what works for you. ❤

Fair play for not succumbing to the cult of Botox and fillers . So many women will look back in regret in years to come.
@stevdaughtr60982 ай бұрын
I don’t judge if somebody wants to do it they can the only time they have huge regrets if they try to keep it a certain way and they go over and over. I know a few people that do and they only go once a yr or 2/they look great.. I don’t really see it as a cult

I'll be 40 in January and this year is the year of my best skin so far. Going for a simple routine worked best for my skin (I have rosacea, that's currently under control). Skin barrier is happy, skin is even, glowy, clear and someone recently thought I was younger than 30 lol. My current skincare (for inspo) is - Morning: splash of water, pat dry, vitain C (The inkey List has a great gentle one with 15% vit C that's NOT ascorbic acid + EGF, or Numbuzin no 5 serum), The Inkey List azelaic acid, Cerave or any moisturizer + SPF - currently Beauty of Joseon, but for winter my fave is Eucerin mineral one). Evening - double cleanse with Bioderma micellar oil /water or The Inkey List balm, La Roche posay Toleriane cleanser, pat dry and wait about 20 mins, Isntree Hyper retinol EX (just testing this one out but it has retinol, bakuchiol, peptides, niacinamide, ceramides and cica which makes it a great all rounder), Geek & Gorgeous power peptides and moisturizer (cerave, the inkey list, ceramedx, SVR - moisturizer without actives!). I exfoliate once a week with a pro product that contains mandelic, azelaic and lactobionic acids followed by a clay mask and hydrating sheet mask :)

Interesting. I'm in my late 50's. I didn't have a line on my face until 48/49( pre menopause) and I honestly used nothing special because I couldn't afford it. Post menopause I use Cerave cream to foam cleanser, I love ROC vit c toner ( one of my splurges) but you only use a tiny amount on a cotton round. I use Skin1004 Centella eye cream morning and night. I use a fairly simple moisturizer at night like Cerave, or ELF holy hydration, on a morning I use Sali Hughes Vit C serum and then Skin 1004 Centella spf 50 ( no moisturizer as I have combination skin unless it's super cold). That's it. I've tried retinols on and off but still not convinced they are worth the money and extra step though my skin really likes Vit C.

My experience with retinoids is similar to Ruth's. It really changed the skincare game for me. I've had good skin throughout my adulthood, so I too was skeptical that it would do anything for my skin beyond what any of my other skincare products could do. But I was genuinely surprised that it did make a noticeable difference.

@@emmaturnstylish vitamin C changes color when it oxidises and it gets less effective. It shouldn’t be damaging, it just won’t work like it should. Light yellow or orange is okay, but if it gets dark orange or brown it’s time to throw it away.

@@emmaturnstylishyou can tell by the colour. Fresh vitamin C serum usually is much clearer than that.
