I'm going through a sexual assault case right now. I was 22 at the time it happened and the man who sexually assaulted me was 49-50years old. He waited until after my grandma passed away to take advantage of me.. this was 3 yrs ago and I'm just now going to court over it.. He had the audacity to tell them I told him he could do it because it was his birthday which was I lie my ex boyfriend was with me the day it happened he was just in a different room at the time. So I pray she gets justice since he failed! People like this don't deserve to be free just walking the streets as if nothing ever happened. If he can do it to her who else would he do this to! I was raped 2 times at age 17, I never talked about it until decades later. I've also been in a controlling relationship that my own partner & father of my first 2 children, who was abusive on many levels, took it upon himself to take sex whenever he felt like he needed it, I couldn't decline, because that would cause him to then call me a cheater and we would end up in viscous arguments, leading to physical abuse including strangling me on a few occasions. I eventually built the courage to leave, because I knew I didn't want my small children growing up to believe that behaviour was normal, let alone acceptable. More women tend to take no action when raped, because of exactly what Steve said, people judge you and rumours begin. The pain of the event was enough in the first place.
