Life gets so overwhelming sometimes with modern technology when you have a constant flood of information and current events. Enjoying the little things in nature-walking barefoot outside, a sunny day, or a fresh breeze-always helps me relax and brings me back to what matters. It’s winter here, and I’ve been struggling so much with the rain, the cold, and especially the dark. This was a lovely reminder that the good things will return again. Thank you 💛✨

Tip for the carrots: Mix some coffee powder and sand in with the earth, then sow in your carrot seeds. This worked wonderfully for us last year and we had so many carrots!

Good Sunday morning Carrie. You're looking great today. I definitely agree the best way to approach life is slow living in a homestead in the countryside. Just like you, I like to start the day with a healthy salad. 👍🌹🌻

Carrot's like a fine/loose soil of a depth around 30cm or more, it takes a bit of work, I would break up the soil by hand to remove large soil clumps, and plenty of well matured compost, perhaps a raised garden bed would help (I don't know what your base of your garden is like, soil depth ,composition etc.).

Carrots! My grand father had the best carrots. He used beach sand in his wee area for his carrots. They love a light sandy soil. You can also buy 'carrot tape'. It has the individual seeds on a tape and you just place the tape just below the soil. Much easier than seeds as you don't have to thin them out. 😊
@outdoorhannah Жыл бұрын
those tape thingys really are life changing. I had one for lamb's lettuce and it worked a charm!

When you are steaming your milk just keep the steam wand about a third into the milk and off to the side see if you can get a little whirlpool effect, then just tap the jug on the bench to get out some of the air bubbles and use straight away. It's been a long time since I made coffee but that would get me a better consistency for art rather than what I would do for a cappuccino
@CarrieRad Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tips 💛

Wasn't sure how to best describe the process of stretching the milk for coffee 🤗☕ Something else that might be helpful, is after you bump the milk jug (after stretching the milk) give it a swirl a couple of times. You'll notice the milk will become a bit smoother and shiny ✨

I’ve had success with carrots only from seed, direct sown. They don’t transplant well because it disturbs the roots too much (making weird shaped carrots 😅) and sow the seeds in quite loose/aerated soil. I add a bit of potting mix into the area I’m sowing them so the roots can really easily grow down for nice straight long carrots 🥰

I was going to say the same thing! You actually added a bit more detail that I haven’t tried, and will this year! Thank you!… I’ve also found that you have to water them daily when their seedlings. If it’s really hot out, that might be hard to accomplish, so you could try covering them with a seedling cover to keep the humidity in. I have also found it is really important to make sure the seeds are just below the soil. If they’re too deep, they won’t grow up. And if the mulch is too thick, the seedlings can’t push their way through.
