Hi, I use the same landscape lights transformer along with a smart plug that I got from your favorite prime web store that you mention a couple times on your video. It is similar to the Lutron that you use but it costs $27. The smart plug is HomeKit compatible and I also integrated with Home Assistant, so It is automated and I can control it from my iPhone’s home favorites. At the time I’m only using one of the 2 outlets.

If you are a little savvy with wiring and tinkering around you can replace your batteries on the echo battery pack if it ever dies completely . Or if you want to make some interchangeable battery packs, which is also super simple. All it uses is 4 18650 lithium ion batteries. I modified mine to use 8 in total making it last basically twice as long at loud volumes and about 3 times longer at around 50% volume

Great setup Reed! If it hasn't been mentioned yet, I would suggest running 1/16 inch (or larger) diameter vinyl coated steel cable along the path of your outdoor String Lights. And secure the string lights to the steel cable about every 6 to 8 feet. This will take all the weight/tension off the power cable connecting each bulb in the light string. With the sun heating up the lights power wire, heavy winds and how far apart the support are for the string lights, the power wire is slowly being stretched out from each bulb connection. Which will shorten the life of your string lights. You can buy String Light Hanging Kits from many places, which will include all the cable and hardware you need. Again Great job, and take care. David

Hey Reed, I’ve installed low voltage landscape lighting multiple tones and I’d recommend you change out the spike connectors with waterproof wire nuts. I found that over time water gets in and causes corrosion in the wire which leads to high resistance in the wire as water, dirt, and different metals touching. I’ve also seen the corrosion eat a wire entirely leaving only 2 strands of the wire making contact with a light which was a bad time.

Get a TIC GS5 Wired 360 Landscape speaker to make it blend in with the green landscape or buy the brown one if you place it where your soil is and get the pyle pta42bt amp so you can place it inside your house where your kids can't touch it and connect your phone to Bluetooth so you enjoy good music in the yard or play music for your kids when playing outside and make sure you selected a location to run your speaker wire or get the echo link amp or Sonos amp if you want to ask Alexa to play music in Backyard Speakers or Landscape speakers and you don't have to deal with your kids touching the echo and blasting music without you knowing.
@homoerotic852 жыл бұрын
Hey. I heard you say you don't have outdoor speakers-I wanted to recommend you my VERY favorite sound system with sound quality so good it will literally give you the chills it also gets extremely loud. It's the whole home Sonos amp and outdoor speaker set (you can get the Architectural speakers for interior) It is truly amazing. The price may seem high, but for what it is and does it's really not bad. The amp is very small and you can hook up anything you need. When it really gets great is when you get the interior set and can play the same music thru out your home. You can have it all the same or play different music in each room and set the volume for each room. It's nice to play spa like music in the bathroom and something else everywhere else. You would love it!!
@SmartHomeSolver2 жыл бұрын
That sounds nice! I might have to go that route. Sonos makes some high quality stuff. Thanks for the suggestion!
@homoerotic852 жыл бұрын
@@SmartHomeSolver I guarantee you would love it! Your welcome. If you by chance check out the specs and are underwhelmed with how many watts the amp is, I think it's like 120 watts per channel or something like that. Don't let that deter you from it. Because I have a 1,000 watt Sony surround system, a 1,500 watt Samsung T70 Gigaparty sound system (which I don't like) & a 400 watt THX certified 2.1 sound system and the Sonos blows them all out of the water by sound quality and volume. I'm guessing because Sonos gives accurate wattage ratings and most others don't. I love playing XM radio thru them it gives off luxurious vibes lol. It really is a must for a luxury home it makes a big difference.

QQQ: I am trying to create automation to when a person comes to one section of a kitchen, the brightness of overhead ceiling light increases for only that section of the kitchen as well as under-cabinet light brightness also increases, and when the person goes to another section of the kitchen the same happens to the light in that section of the kitchen, while the prior section of the kitchen lower the brightness when there is no one is there. I am wondering if it is possible to reduce the field of view for a motion sensor, for example, Hue sensor) to see only, let's say 10-degree field of view and no far as 2-3 feet. Each kitchen section (distance between ceiling lights) is about 3-4 feet apart.

I'm wondering, what exactly makes the lights so slow to turn on when you open a door? Is the Ring contact sensor that slow, does it have something to do with the fact that you use a transition on the porch lights, and the smart outlet switches on somewhere halfway, or was it by design? I've got Aqara contact sensors combined with Home Assistant, and that pretty much immediately turns on the connected lights.

The switch is most likely in a waterproof cover so all you really need is a smart switch that you would like to use.
