Thanks so much for watching the video! 💕 Just wanted to apologise for being a negative nancy at the beginning of the video, I was down about my clothes not fitting like they used to but I'm feeling a bit better now. My mood improves drastically in the second section so skip to that if you're looking for something a bit more upbeat!

I also thought that I would always feel negatively about my body when I was in my 20's BUT genuinely as you get older it becomes easier to give less of a shit about everything, and now I'm in my 30s (with some work) I feel quite disassociated from my body, as in it can be however it is and it doesn't affect how I feel about myself much at all. I don't believe it will necessarily be with you forever!

What you call the "negative" bit at the beginning I think is just you being real, and I really appreciate it! You are just voicing something that I'm certain a lot of other people are feeling. Love this little update, giving me some real inspo for the next couple of months! xoxox

I've definitely not been feeling very positive in my style at the moment either - glad it's not just me. I think coming out of lockdown has created an extra level of anxiety as my style has not had the outside world to evolve in, just me in my flat. I feel as if I have completely forgot how to wear proper clothes :/

Oh my god so this is an older video and no one will likely see this, but today I finally found my most perfect pair of jeans and it was so emotional because I've been in your exact position for well over a year, and I completely get how demoralising it feels when nothing fits right and the shops don't carry anything in your style or fit and make you feel uncomfortable in your own clothes. A few months ago when jeans/bra shopping and feeling pretty low about myself in general I ended up crying in the changing room. BUT TODAY, I went shopping for some basic singlets and decided to try on jeans while I was there, and tried on almost 10 pairs before this one pair that is my dream pair of jeans, the style I've been searching for which is so rare in this cycle of trends atm, and my perfect amount of high-waisted and my perfect size. I was so overcome and emotional when looking at myself in them. This is my testament that jeans shopping is SHIT when you don't feel anything out there flatters you or caters to your body and style, but the absolute joy and relief when you do find that perfect pair, amazing

Oh gosh Lucy you were my style inspiration when I was 15, and you still are in my 20s. Honestly, since the pandemic forced positivity has gotten so cringe-worthy that it's refreshing to see another human being real about how they feel. Thank you for this video, especially the "negative nancy" bit that made me feel a lot less alone in those feelings and thoughts. Sending you lots of love from France!

Lucy, I loved this. And, this may mean nothing coming from a stranger from Canada, but throughout yours videos recently, I've thought that you've been looked as though you are thriving. We're all in this pandemic body slump, and I really appreciate you taking a moment to acknowledge that. Hearing you say how you feel, has helped me to believe that other people might see me as thriving too, despite how 'bleh' my self talk has been.Sending love

I really needed to hear that chat at the beginning!! I’ve only just realized how different my body is now from when the panini press started and it’s honestly been taking a toll on me. None of my clothes fit the way they did before and it’s really been affecting how I feel in my body. Ironically, you’re someone whose body I look at and go “ooh I wish I looked like that!” and so it’s a nice reminder that everyone has their own stuff around their figure

Honestly you’re not alone with the Jeans issues. They are horrid, nothing fits me how I want it to either and it’s so annoying. I’m quite happy with my body at the moment but trying to find jeans that fit nicely really tests that 🤦🏻♀️
@naecocificap45883 жыл бұрын
I can totally relate to the body issues you discuss in the beginning of the video. It is weird how when you spend so much time behind a screen (at least for me as a student) somehow you become more aware of everything beyond that. On the other side though it has made me realize that even as just a little pictogram on a Zoom call or a meeting people still consider me valuable. One thing that has especially been helping with negative thoughts is accepting them as they are and accepting that you can feel this way about your body. After that, trying to not replace the thoughts with an 'I look good,' because that is a huge step. Instead, trying to replace them with 'my body is the least interesting part about me'. It's been hard, but maybe this could help someone.

Lucy hearing you talk about this was helpful. Yesterday I went out to buy a dress for a socially distant work thing and I definitely felt that bare-bones pressure. Before buying the dress I got I tried to borrow from friends and just couldn't find anything I liked on my body. Hearing someone else say it definitely made me feel better.

This is the video I needed today! I am a fellow pear, very similar size to you & feel your struggle with the jeans. I pretty much only wear my Levi’s ribcage straight jeans as they are small enough round my waist and make my bum look amazing. Hope that helps!! Ps. For wardrobe strugs - Narrower hangers, mine work really well from primark (I know) - Just bought some clothes organisers and they have revolutionised my wardrobe and drawers!

I've left teaching and am starting a new, office based job next month and I'm so excited to play with my aesthetic in a more professional setting. I've lived in "comfy and expendable" clothes for the past 8years because I needed a wardrobe that would withstand early childhood and all the mess that entails. I can't wait to wear collared shirts, dresses, trousers that aren't trackies!

Thanks for the honesty! I truly have the same issues with finding fitting pants and styles. Once, you mentioned that it’s difficult to edit when seeing yourself in a vlog a lot - and I resonated so much with that, as I’m so shocked to see myself in videos as well. It really helped me to get over it hearing someone else goes through the same thing. Every time you talk about these things, I can relate so much. So thank you for sharing ❤️

Thank you soooo much for talking about this! I feel like our wardrobes are stuck in pre-covid time and so much of us and the world has changed but our style doesn't seem to reflect that. Like these clothes are old versions of us and it's hard to feel confident going back into the world in an old version of yourself. I haven't heard anyone voice it the way you did and it really spoke to me so thank you!

Lucy!! I feel you in the jeans department, I cannot tell people how many pairs of jeans I have tried in my lifetime because of the poor fit on my pear shape! The best jeans I have ever found are the New Look Tori enhance waist mom jeans, they are the most comfortable jeans I have found that fit my shape the best. I have tried all different prices, including Kate and Levi’s but in the end I just want to be comfortable. I will always want to wear more trendy jeans like straight legs but I just can’t find ones that work. You are not alone and I feel your pain! Loved this video just what I needed for some inspo 💖

You are speaking my style LANGUAGE in this video. I got some chunky chelsea boots this year too and am obsessed, I have a black midi tee dress with puff sleeves that I really want to wear with them which is so much like your sleeper dress, and the white linen dress with the burberry - unbelievable. Again, recently got a trench coat from depop and wearing it with an outfit and my chunky chelseas is such a mood. I also appreciate you being 100% real at the beginning, it's something so many of us go through and it's bound to be a thought in our heads after a year of lockdown and now we're coming out and wondering what to wear, our styles and our bodies have changed and there's a little dissonance there I think. We just have to navigate it in the best way we can,. Lots of love.

I've been feeling a little weird about my clothes lately too. What I've decided is to lean into and expand the area of my wardrobe that 1) my body feels comfy in (no squeezing, snug-ness - so relaxed fits, soft fabrics) and 2) that I feel most confident in. Right now that's dresses and A-line skirts. I've decided I'm not attempting jeans for the foreseeable future.

I have a similar body type to you and I got the mairaa mom jeans, they're super comfortable and have enough room at the thighs but then the waist is not too wide either edit: I forgot to mention but they're also a fair fashion brand! and the no dye stuff is especially sustainable because it saves like 90% of the water that's normally used in production (blew my mind when I read that)
