2 scarfs and a cardigan are a must for me no matter where I go.
@debraschwicht9741 Жыл бұрын
I agree, especially on the scarves! They can SO change the look of a basic top or plain dress-having taken up very little space in my travel bag. Scarves are one of my favorite “souvenirs“ to buy when I travel, too. I have fun remembering past trips when I wear them at home for many years to come. I’m still using a couple of scarves I bought almost 20 years ago on my first trip to the UK with my oldest daughter. Fun memories AND classy look!

Oof, my partner and I flew to Toronto twice this winter, 4-7 days each time. We’ve become big proponents of traveling carry-on, not checking bags, but even finer-guage knits can soak up space. So watching this video, my question in all of this is, would you have had the space for the things you didn’t bring? In a limited luggage space, when you love everything you’ve already packed, how do you prioritize? I’d love to see a video on how you budget out your luggage space 😄😄😄

Most of the things she had already brought and made room for. A coat has to be worn or carried over arm or shoulder. The cashmere tee she had not allowed for. Another blazer/moto jacket she hadn't made room for either. Those two items are it. Hopefully you will find room.

I do mostly cold weather travel. Merino wool base layers (top and bottom) work as my pj. I wear them to do yoga as well. Rare occasion for beach or cruise I bring a cotton maxi to be my pj and swimsuit coverup. I don’t use anything that needs ironing for travel. I wear hats and beanies all year round, no exception when traveling. I use a high denier nylon sling bag that goes across my chest for travel antitheft. I love monk strap leather loafers with rubber outsole. They don’t tire my feet and waterproof (brand is Vagabond).

Is Vagabond supportive/ comfy - especially on slightly wider feet (but still narrow/ average heels)? I've got my eye on some interesting styles but am always scared to pull the trigger on buying shoes online (without trying them first).

For my 'softer' sisters, we can still do the 'must have' button down shirt but I've found the neckline & fabric to be important - instead of a traditionally western shirt collar in a stiff fabric, I like either a collarless rounded neckline or a mandarin band stand collar in silk*. Shawl lapels work great too, if you can find them (often on wrap shirts instead). *I don't recommend satin because it water stains easily. A silk blended with cotton or linen is slightly more durable for travel.

My style vibe has evolved thanks to you, I use the three word method .. I'm thinking differently, understanding what I feel good in... And you have won me over to the button down club! Not a traveling person as of yet, I was tied down for work/kids and once my kids went to college; my mom then had a major stroke, so I been taking care of her for 15 years. Now retired I had not seen my extended family where I am from for over 11 years and I finally got there last year and spent to weeks (I was exhausted), so just going to try and make it back to GA to see my family out there once a year but that will be the limit of my travels. I don't have to pay for hotels and such while there. This is very helpful, even for non travel. The pandemic made shopping harder (I like to try things on in person). A lot of my favorite pieces are on their last legs, which is a great opportunity to align my clothes with how my life has changed. I love Alyssa’s “what you can’t live without” approach with a small infusion of luxury fabric (silk PJs, luxury T). In the past those pieces seemed “unnecessary “ and out of budget, but they are actually a form of self care. Plus fewer, well chosen pieces that all feel good means there is more budget to allocate per piece. Thanks, Alyssa!

My go to must haves were a nice pair of jeans, one beautiful wrinkle free midi skirt, one black blouse, one white and blue striped 3/4 sleeve top, one cashmere sweater, yoga pants and tank tops, one yoga long sleeve jacket. Both times I moved in the summer and planned on buying a coat there.

Thought this was very cool and and some of the items show up on both lists but in very diffrent forms. So for the cosy aspect for me it’s good tea …. and have two bamboo dresses that can double as nightgown or dress which I happen to look amazing in and are really nice to the skin, thin wollen socks, leggings, a maxi skirt, a good looking thin fleece with Zips up to high neck, a blanket scarf in wool, plus a colourful decorative one of some sort, boots, black more polished easily packable sneakers, a more fancy top in my case lace with a square neck and billowy see though arms … perfect for that oops unforseen more fancy than you thought with a cocktail ring or a more dramatic heavy necklace, a comfy sportsbra and a that comfy yet stylish bra that works with everything + a long cardigan of some sort… a good fitting for pair of trousers which can be used to dress up, and some sort of good looking simple evening shoe.

Hello Alyssa, I actually found your channel when I was preparing for a 3 week trip to Italy last summer. I love the true earth laundry strips! Used them in Italy, use them at home. I think this is by far your best travel video. My husband and I were in Northern Italy and Slovenia during last summer's infamous heat wave. One of my most used items was oddly enough what I started calling "The car dress." I had a second hand Jcrew Tee dress that I wore on travel days. It held it's shape during long car trips and dressed up for late, last minute dinners with a slouchy linen cardi or a few accessories. I totally agree about the PJs or lounge wear. I have plantar faciitis so packing my Vionic slippers was a total life saver for me. I actually hate walking around barefoot in a strange house.

Thanks for another great video, Alyssa!! True Earth eco strips are my go-to when travelling, particularly with only carryon. Nothing to spill, nothing to take up room in my 1 litre liquids bag!! No regrets!!
