The Patient Story

Жыл бұрын

Jason Randall first started experiencing stomach issues in 2005 and was diagnosed with GERD.
In 2018, he was seen by his doctor when he got severe abdominal pain and infrequent bowel movements. A scan then showed 80% of his liver was covered with metastatic disease and was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer. He was then told he would be on chemo for life.
In this conversation, Jason shares more about his cancer journey, his work with support groups and how he overcame liver surgery and chemo after doctors said it couldn’t be done.

I am a stage 4 colorectal survivor. Like you it had spread to my liver and they gave mea 15% survival rate. Unlike you I had no symptoms nor did it show up in my blood work, just by chance I had a colonoscopy at 52 because it was the end of the year and my insurance deductible had been paid. They did the liver resection first followed by removing the tumor from my colon. My next stop was chemotherapy. My story goes way deeper because everything that happened was miraculous and the Doctors were baffled as I made a full recovery and I am now 10 years cancer free. As a side note on my last treatment my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer so the journey continued but is now cancer free as well. I struggled for a while with God as to what he wanted me to do with this journey and I now know it is to tell my story and give people hope. Up until now I am not part of any organization but perhaps I should look into it. Thanks for sharing.

Hi I had a couple questions if you don’t mind please. How did the doctors first discover you had colorectal cancer? And how did they see that it had spread to other areas? Please let me know as I’m scared and trying to figure out all this stuff.

@@poccagirl1703 The colonocopy found the tumor, after that they did a CT scan followed up with a PET scan. The PET scan found that it had spread to my liver. I was scared too, in fact I was terrified. But I prayed on my knees and I heard a voice say "Don't be afraid, I am with you and a peace came over me and I was not afraid no more. One of the biggest things is your attitude and keeping joy in your heart. I am convinced that I experienced super natural healing from God as there were so many things that did not make sense to the Doctors.Cancer is ugly but it is not a death sentence, you can beat it. I also had the top two Doctors in their field which also was by Gods grace. I will include you in my prayers.

My wife was dx with colorectal cancer stage 4 in October 2022….we had no idea. She had been having random weird symptoms for a couple months. When she finally was seen she had a 10in by 10in mass in her abdomen. She had a total hysterectomy bc the cancer spread to her ovaries which was what the mass was. She also had a bowel resection. It’s also in her liver, bile duct, and one breast. She’s just completed her 10th chemo treatment and has two more. She has a ct scan in a couple weeks.

Recently, my wife was diagnosed with colon cancer with possible metastasis in the liver. The doctor missed it the first time 6 months back when they admitted her to the hospital for complications from perforated diverticulitis. This is in the Netherlands. We are stunned with the news but very upset that the doctors missed it the first time. Soon, she will have a colon resection, and they found a tumour in her breast too for which docs will start treatment next week too. Thank you for your success story, and please pray for my wife. 🙏🙏

Hi, I just got back from a colonoscopy and endoscopy. The results were completely normal. I have had blood in my rectum, unexplained anemia, severe stomach pain, constipation and based on all my Google findings, diagnosed myself with advance colon cancer. They found Nothing, not even a benign polyp. I wanted to share this because I couldn’t find enough of these types of posts when I was looking for answers myself. Sometimes the research we do drives us completely bonkers, wasting hours and days and even weeks assuming the absolute worst! There are soooo many other explanations for symptoms than the worst case scenarios & statistically, it is more likely NOT to have cancer than to have it🙌🏼 Unfortunately, I know this is NOT everyone’s experience and people are diagnosed everyday and have to walk the hard battle out but I wanted to be a voice of hope in the self diagnosis process. Get tested. Don’t ignore symptoms but don’t assume it’s colon cancer.

Hey brother, listen, keep keeping your head up! My father is 80 years old. He was diagnosed with stage four, metastatic colon cancer, to the liver and lungs, back in 2010. Just like you, the surgeon told him it had been growing in there for at least 10 years. That’s a really long journey, and he is still alive. In fact, the colon cancer is the least of his health problems, at this point. Really it’s just heart disease that has hurt him the worst. I know there’s others that don’t always survive this, but there’s always hope. People can survive, and thrive, for a very long time.

What a champion! I have all kinds of “down there” issues but don’t go to the dr. to find anything out. Too afraid and can’t afford to get anything done anyway. So, my mindset, at age 73, is to just keep going with my top priority being living as long as possible because my daughter would be list without me. I eat only organic, small amounts of non-processed food and walk 3 miles at least 5 days a week. I’m on no drugs. Gonna just die if I can’t walk anymore and save my daughters inheritance instead of trying to live 2-3 months longer.

you can do fasting, keto, fenbendazole, artemisinin, turkey tail mushroom. search each of those + cancer. there are many things you can do but the best thing i think is just a long hard fast preferably at least 72 hours if you can manage that. the cancer needs glucose and glutamine to survive and spread.

What an incredibly clear and thorough explanation of how this particular cancer can manifest. Especially interesting given it didn't really tick any of the boxes that you are told to look out for with bowel cancer (as we call it in the UK and here in Australia). Jason, you are beyond incredible in my eyes. I can't begin to imagine going through all of those heavy treatments and surgeries. Your family too sound amazing for their strength and in helping support you. Unfortunately, I know what you mean when you say the primary and secondary caregivers should be captured when talking about the patient with cancer having been my mum's primary caregiver myself. Hearing Jason talk about the symptoms and the diverticulitis made my ears prick up (I was diagnosed with it in 2009). I will be pushing my GP to get my overdue colonoscopy and endoscopy as soon as possible. Thank you for an excellent and highly educating share.

Thanks for sharing your story. I just “got over” cancer, but I STILL don’t know what it’s like to go through what you did. Mine was confined to my uterus, which was simply removed. From the beginning I knew it was no big deal. I hope to never know what it’s like to be given a possible cancer death sentence. People like you are so brave. You’re heroes.

What an amazing journey! Thank you for sharing your story. My dad passed away of stage 4 colon cancer which spread to his liver. He passed away one year after his diagnosis, even after going through chemo with a determination to fight the disease. I still miss him every day. Seeing your story gives me hope for many other patients out there who need it.

I finally had my first colonoscopy last week at age 47 (48 now) cuz my dr had been on me to get it done for a couple years at least and I kept putting it off. Especially after I told him that my brother had a cancerous polyp removed (he had preventive chemotherapy and radiation) he is ok. I shouldn’t waited so long. Plus I had started bleeding for about a week straight (which later found out it was just a internal hemorrhoid. My colonoscopy went ok and they found 2 polyps in the colon and removed them. The nurse there told me when I woke up that if I would have sat on it (no pun intended) for 5 or 10 years I would have had serious problems. I am so glad I went to get this procedure done. Plus I’m anemic and that’s a sign of colon cancer too. I have to get checked in 3 years from now. Hopefully all will be ok. I lost my mom to leukemia back in ‘02 and she was just 51 at the time and I remember thinking that was old but I’m now 48 the same age she was when she got sick. She fought like hell though and never once complained. I lost my dad back in march of ‘21 and he had liver cancer and was in the process of getting the transplant and as soon as they were opening him he had a heart attack and died. Then there’s my brother who had the colorectal cancer when he was my age now. I was foolish and hardheaded to put off that colonoscopy that could have possibly prevented me from getting cancer from one of those polyps. (They sent them to the lab which I understand is their standard procedure to check them). I just hope this message reaches at least one person who is one the fence about getting a colonoscopy done. Do it now! (If you haven’t already) don’t be foolish and wait like I did with all the risk factors I had. Don’t wait till you have symptoms to go to the dr or hospital, it may be too late then. We all think it won’t happen to us like we are special and “that won’t happen to me, I’m healthy, I eat right, I take care of myself.” Don’t think that way. It can happen to anyone. I was foolish for waiting so long and thank God I had nothing major . Thank you sir for your testimony and thank you for reading mine. I pray 🙏 everyone gets a colonoscopy and I pray everyone stays healthy and catches cancer in time before it has time to spread. God bless
