Thank you for this video!! I got my starter locs done today via the 2 strand method and diamond parting system. I am excited but was not expecting my twists to be so "boney"! lol I'm looking forward to the journey. everyone thinks I'm crazy for locking my hair. one girlfriend asked how long will you keep them in, another said but I love your natural hair. my mother said you're not going to mess your hair up are you? lol my husband is very supportive so that's good. I found it difficult finding others who have the same texture as I do who have locked without freeforming. my texture is 3b/3c and like you I used to do all types of styles, perms, braids, weaves, etc. I've worn m hair natural for about 7 years but today 2/22/17 I start my loc journey! thank you for sharing that you also had some negative feedback. your locs are beautiful, as they are a reflection of you!
@tannehmckown29257 жыл бұрын
I had a similar start to mine I Always loved Locs and how they looked. I've had a relaxer from small so I didn't fully remember my hair on its natural state. All I remembered was the pain because it was so thick. So I finally just decided to grow out my relaxer which I did for almost 3 years . When it came time to really get down with the get down and find a hairstylist I ended finding a Loctician in my area who is Amazing!! But you know going to the salon all the time or every month or 2 adds up. Now all I need to do is really take charge of my own hair like I used to. I'm loving everything about this journey it's great 👍🏾 in August it will be 2 years for me. My only regret is I should've done this sooner ❤❤

I started my locs on 7/8 with a two strand twists, then i had a situation that i walked away from and decided to undue the twists, they had started to loc, I washed my hair sort of like an emotional detox and then i decided on a comb coil. I love them I started them today. I the comb coils are beautiful and the back is a little difficult but I love them. I also decided that I was tired of spending money on my hair and i needed carefree and easy.

First off I really enjoy this womans video. ok in general why is it that people who prefer straight hair can be unapologetic about their preferences but if you prefer curly hair you have to put a disclaimer "not that one is better than the other" or "im not picking sides"? I prefer curly but I never add a disclaimer thats why it stick out to me. Someone enlighten me.
@BeSpiffyBeYou7 жыл бұрын
+LailahAngel Jah it's definitely the negative connotations that comes with being natural/ having curly hair... it's sad but ppl tend to attack others for their preferences

I went to a Loctician who didn't do a thorough enough consultation. I have low-density, soft to the touch (but looks course), type 4 hair. my hair is on thinner side yet I desire full, luscious,plump (medium) locs. How should my starter locs be in order to achieve the best illusion? (b/c I can't change genetics). also I plan to semi-freeform to help with strengthening my fragile roots.
@locempress86787 жыл бұрын
octoberskye hi I have fine low density hair. I recommend checking out these three Queens with similar hair. Dxlyn locs, curly nugrowth, and salt and light. They all three have fine hair and have amazing tips. Also......I am eleven months in the game with a few videos myself if interested. ❤️❤️
