Shalom sis! I am a fan of your channel. I am taking out my locs right now on my 1 year loc anniversary😔 I wish I knew a year ago what I know now. I took out 5 so far lol and it took 3 hours. 88 more to go! Taking them out while my hair is dry with a Bobby pin and it's easy. I am taking them out because when I first got them I didn't do much research on parting, what to expect, how to maintain or I didn't know much of the process. I just wanted locs. I wore faux locs, Marley twists and braids over top. I didn't think it would form them weird tho. Plus the "loctician " I went to did parts of various sizes and now that I am ready for my locs to be locked they are not looking to good from all that I did and didn't do with my locs. I am amazed at how much my hair grew and not a lot of dead hair is coming out either. I am going to a famous loctician in my area next month to start over with all this great knowledge I got now. I can't completely do away with locs because I love them so much but my hair would've ended up being damaged, thin, weirdly formed, and not lay so nicely if I continued. So I say all that to say, I am starting fresh and it will truly be what I want to do.

I cut my locs of 11 years last December in 2018. It was mostly for spiritual reasons because I had a health challenge that I feel contributed to my once beautiful locs thinning and looking lifeless. (Oh and the bleaching,coloring and constant retwisting didn’t help the situation much either lol) I cut it all off right before my surgery and restarted them this past December in 2019. I, like you believe in a strong healthy foundation. I’m waiting for them to bud but I’m so looking forward to starting over!

After almost 3 years I cut my locs earlier this year because I'm pretty sure I had severe shedding my roots were thinning and I had a patch of short loose hair at the top of my head so I cut them off. I think the way I started them also played a part, I just did random sections and braided it and they formed thinner then I'd hoped so I combined them, I also semi free formed so I learned alot about what my hair needed through that time and it was more attention then I was giving it as a semi free former lol. I cant wait to start them over once my hair gets long enough, I'm going to start them with two strand twist and I think I'm going to do fan parting, and retwist once a month. 😊

I cut my first set of Locs around 2016/2017 because I had a seriously buildup issue. And no matter how much I washed, I couldn’t get stuff out. I went to Florida, came back with sand in my hair. No matter how often I washed, I was still washing sand. So I cut it off and started again a year later. Unfortunately I did not know about ACV rinses at the time. Now I’m happy with my Locs as they are now

I had to cut my locs and I hadn’t had them for long about 8 months. But because I have thyroids and menopause my hair is no longer strong and my locs were breaking and hanging on by a thread. Now I’m back to wearing my hair low like a boy cut. It looks nice. I miss my locs but I rather not have them then to be looking bad. Thank you for sharing this it made me feel better about my recent cut.

👋🏽 Hi, are you dealing with hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism? I was confused by what you meant in your comment. I have hypothyroidism and have been using an herb supplement and increased my iron levels and its helped my hair tremendously.

Started my locs today after almost a year of cutting the first set but I really was over my hair last year, they had to go ! I’m starting different this time since I’m more knowledgeable( I just wanna say as much research as you do before you start your locs, you won’t be as knowledgeable as someone who has actually gon through it) so now I’m more knowledgeable and I can’t wait for this set to grow out 💃🏾💃🏾

I started my loc journey on Permed hair with com coil and 8 years strong 💪to each their own. Just let people be who they are meant to be we all have locs for different reasons and we all have different vision . somoene holding on to their locs despite going bald may a spiritual vision and not an aesthetic vision of locs for instance .

Dont come for me. But I got loc extensions after they redid my parts of my own already locd hair (my locs were too small and my parting was really bad so they attempted to join them) Well, the loc extensions are too big for my liking but my new parting system is great and I know my real locs will not be as full as my extensions. So I'm just going to wait it put for a year before I cut these chunky locs off.

Just freeform, any other form of locking is hair manipulation. Freeform locks dont thin out, there's no build up and they're unique to every individual.

I have thought about starting my loc journey over. I have already done so before by going from Sisterlocks to traditional sized locs. Now that I have traditional sized locs….I just wished I would have done diamond parting because I have soft textured hair with high density and fine/med strands. I think it would have complimented my hair texture much better than box style. Also I combined some of my locs because some were very thin, not weak, but thin because some areas of my hair are finer in texture than others. I am now currently about 16 months in and still think about starting over once again.

@bryzziijay2011
@bryzziijay2011 5 жыл бұрын
The loc will take the size of your part over time. Mine were skinny at first and then started to thicken and settle. The loc may thin if not taken care of properly. Watch your diet, exercise, drink water, use essential oils, wash on schedule, and love your locs unconditionally! I know you didn't ask me, but I'd thought I put my two cents in.
