I'm a veteran, was actually addicted to alcohol and cigarettes. Got severely traumatized, i also suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

Congrats buddy. I want to become a mycologist because honestly mushrooms are the best form of medicine (not just psychedelic ones) There are so many people today using magic mushrooms to ween off of SSRI medication- its amazing! Years back i wrote an entire essay about psychedelics. they saved you from death buddy, lets be honest here.

I really appreciate your video and candor. I've been off amphetamines for almost two years after a long, addiction to them. I thought it was a perfect tool and for a long time, it was. But yeah, its was just fucking with me and my life too much. Some personal stuff happened with my wife and i decided that i was done. Two years later, I'm doing okay. I recently got promoted to a supervisor at my job. I'm way happier in my life. The biggest advice i can give is to accept the death. You are not ever going to be the same person without Adderall. I am a different person on Adderall. I'm way more into music and mixing. But without it, its been hard to find that person again. But I'm trying to get to know the new person i am without it. Some of it sucks but some of it has been great. Good luck out there.

Quitting alcohol 7 years ago is the best thing for me. When I couldn’t fall asleep without getting drunk. I knew it was getting bad. Addiction is hard. Even with sugar I struggle with. Not because it has made me fat, but I feel like shit when I eat sugar. But I overall I feel better when I don’t eat a ton of sugar. It’s dopamine what your brain is chasing. You just need to find cheap and healthy ways to chase dopamine and still be in reality.

I too am a former alcoholic. I quit cold turkey when my daughter asked why all I did was drink beer, I'd crack a beer at 430am when I woke up and not stop till 10pm when I went to bed. I was a very functional alcoholic. When a 5year old points out all dad does is drink, it cuts deep. That moment I realized I needed to stop, not for me but for her. Been almost 3 years. I still have one or two a week but thats when we go out for supper on Friday night. The first month was the hardest. The withdrawals were horrible. If my supervisor didn't know what I was going through she would have fired me day 3. She knew and was very supportive. I had alot of people on my side when I was getting sober. But the #1 supporter was my daughter. Anyone can do it, some need more help than others

@@stevenkast89 I can tell you as a daughter- now 25 years old, my dad also was a very bad alcoholic he got sober when I was 9 years old & I still remember it all like it was yesterday. I was & still am so proud of my dad. Alcohol withdrawl is no joke & he suffered tremendously but made it to the other side for not only himself but for his family. He worked so hard & sacrificed so much to take care of our family & worked long HARD hours. He was a welder. He like many boilermakers, fell into alcoholism & drank to survive on the job. He got help & hasn’t had a drink since 2008. My dad is & always has been my bestfriend, I never forgot all the sacrifices he made for our family & all he went through. Reading your story almost made me cry bc I understand & your daughter will be so proud of you for getting your alcholism under control. Wanted to tell you from a daughter’s perspective it will truly mean so much to her. Wishing you & your family nothing but the best in the future.🩷

@@derrickd4307 its possible you just need to remember it can cause a heart attack. I had heart palpitations to the extent where I had to go to emerge. I was on 100mg at the time and hadn't slept in like 3 days. Overall I beat the addiction now I only take it as perscribed and I feel so much better. Trust me. Abusing it feels amazing and is very hard to stop but if you gain a bit of self control you can take it at a lower dose. When the crash comes at end of day the most important thing is to NOT take more. Also becareful with mixing caffeine. It makes you super irritated. Also, don't play video games on it. Why? It becomes super consuming and addictive. I can't even play video games now without adderall. I decided to stop playing games and started to read books. It takes months to feel better but it's possible. If you absolutely cannot control your urges then tell your doctor and get off of it for a few months. You'll have low energy and focus and moods will be awful but you got to be strong and beat the addiction.

I love this comment because I also got addicted to kratom thinking I was “drinking coffee “ like the promoters on the Internet say, and it totally fucked up four years of my life. Kratom is straight from the devil and will I know that sounds very dramatic, but I say that because there’s a lot of misinformation, and it’s basically like legalized heroin to some degree and it really takes peoples lives down, but they go into it totally unsuspecting, and it’s very addictive in my lived experience

A lot of people don't realize this in America or canada, but in Thailand the Muay Thai fighters would chew the leaves of the Kratom plant and have that painkilling property with euphoric energy before they fight, so in America and Canada the way Americans train and Canadians they want to believe they will get to that level of Thailand Fighters but realistically it won't happen because of what I just said @@whitneyw.7919

These pills are so toxic and like you said, they make you feel good and build you up but in the long run, it’s not worth it. What also helped me with depression and fatigue was getting my testosterone checked about 2 years ago, which turned out to be in the 300’s (normal for a guy is 800-1000) and that helped a lot after jumping on. But with some support, and a positive outlook on life.. you can without a doubt conquer that addiction and make it your b!tch. Number one is being transparent with the people around you, it’s so hard to be honest about your addiction, and openly talk about it. So congrats on doing that part. It looks like you’re taking accountability which is huge. Anyways, I could go on and on, but I’ll spare you. Good luck to you on your road or recovery Jimbo. I was keen enough to realize there were different manufacturers, but I figured they all had to use the same formulation. Wild. Thank you for this! I finally kicked my addiction about a year ago, and it's taken me about as long to come to terms with calling it an addiction. It had such a psychological hold on me that I was still had thoughts that it had helped me, even months after my last manic episode. It caused psychosis in me 5 distinct times over the course of 7 years. At one point, I was prescribed 90mg of instant-release a day, filling 90 days worth at a time. Bro losing you’re two closest friends, while you’re so young, while they’re really young in terms of dying, so close together, one super unexpected., one with some of the worst circumstances possible, while dealing with addiction to amphetamines (one of the hardest addictions to deal with behind benzos and opiates), AND while getting bad medicine (psychoactive at that) ((I don’t think you really took it we serious as it is partially because doctors, pharmacists, news agencies, and even the public downplayed how completely horrible and insane that is because big pharma hid and downplayed it too, getting bad medicine/drugs is HORRIBLE for tons of reasons 1. Kills your trust in medicine which is supposed to help you 2. Not only do you not get the needed benefits you also get bad reactions to the bad medicine all on top of withdrawal from your actual medicine. These pharma companies need to be held responsible)). You deserve a medal bro not many people make it through even one of those things let alone all of them LET ALONE all of them in that short of a time period (that’s close to a lifetime of trauma for some people). No shame or weakness in this. The reality is, that a lot of people who become addicted are normal folks who take medications for legitimate and therapeutic purposes. It can happen to anyone. I've taken Adderall in the past and currently take Ritalin. It's true, stimulants can make work fun. However, things became different once the Adderall shortage became an issue. I usually taper down my stimulants near the end of the period to avoid overtaking. However, things can be complicated at times and it can be easy to become addicted, especially if unfortunate life circumstances come up.

Wow Jimbo, I commend you for making this video. I've been a subscriber for years. Since the C4 and ZFG days. Its hard to come out and talk about addiction. But I feel this video might just help someone out there that is struggling. I was addicted to opiates for about 15 years. It started with a car accident in 2003 when I was 18, they prescribed me oxycontin. then through pain management clinic shenanigans I moved on to a 10 year $100/day heroin habit. But I got myself out of it. It wasn't easy. I gave up more times than I can count. But I hit that moment of "I've got this" and made the decision to live again. I have been clean 5 years now. Take it one day at a time. It will get easier. I promise. I'm happy for you.

A lot of people are struggling with this, and in denial that they’re basically addicts, myself included It’s also really downright immoral That companies are now targeting ads to people for what is really speed and Listing a whole bunch of symptoms that honestly everyone has one or two Symptoms, making them get Adderall prescriptions that after a few months or years really start fucking up their lives. To do that explicitly for money is just really immoral in my opinion. It’s not that far from being a drug dealer with the way they conducting business. At the same time though I do think adults should be able to do the drugs they want, so not advocating healthcare providers should be paternalistic. Just don’t think pple realize it can really screw w your life

I never developed any issues with Adderall or Concerta as far as overuse. Didn’t even get comedowns or negative side effects (like headaches). But I had to quit cold turkey after 3 years because of the EXACT pharmacy and med recipe issues you so perfectly detailed. It’s like one day I woke up and thought “is this really worth it? Are the positive effects I get for my ADHD, REALLY worth the constant 3 month stress cycle of calling 20+ pharmacies, doing the secret handshakes, and lily padding from one nugget of meds to the next??” I decided it was not.

I definitely understand this, it has been really stressful when pharmacies run out. I have a lot extra from days I skip where I know I don’t need to be medicated, like days off at home and what not, so that helps me

you are SO real for this and i wish you the absolute best. i was struggling with this for all of 2023. i never really had issues with taking too much, or my meds "not working" until i switched from brand name to generic and my god it is horrible out there. i have a long history with mental illness and they got me playing roulette with my psychiatric medication every month. being told by doctors that there's no difference between brand name and generic "tHeY sHoULd wOrK tHe SaMe" ok but why am i falling apart at the seams and spiraling into the worst depression i've had in years all of a sudden?? i'm a lil over a week off meds and not getting things done sucks but it does feel better than the seemingly random push and pull my medication subjected me to monthly. like top 10 anime betrayals of all time

I am mind blown at how similar our stories are. Even the same time frame. Leading up to last September I started struggling and having to take 3 hour naps during the day even after taking adderal. I went 5 days cold turkey and after losing the will to live I realized I had to do a taper. I miss the adderall still because of how productive I used to be. But I am so glad to finally break the addiction and will never ever go back to it. Life with ADHD unmedicated is difficult but better than being addicted to a medication

It's because after the shortage, generics DO NOT work. I just got off the phone with my pharmacy, and they have given me multiple manufacturers. I'm going to push for name brand, or it isn't even worth taking this med anymore. I've never abused it, only taken what is prescribed.

Good stuff. I was takong aderrall for about 2 years there. It was great at forst but i ran into the same issue you did. They switched from the orange football looking pills to these pink ones and they gave me intense anxiety, sweats and if i had any caffeine whatsoever, my chest would get tight. I stopped taking them almost immediately and never went back. Sure, theres ben times i think that an oldschool 2009/2010 aderrall would be great to knock some stuff out. But i manage just fine. Its all about balance, checks and balances. Proper sleep, diet, movement, monitor your headspace, social media, all that fun stuff. Sorry you went through it, dude.

I had some buddies with some scripts and I would occassionally use it. In college I would use it more. I could play beer pong like a mad man. I could mack on females and get all my homework done. I returned to my home town and stayed away from it, but I still wasn't problematically using so I would just pick it up again with parties. But here I am at age 27, still using it..

I've been off the drug for four years after a struggle with it for over a decade. I love that you decided to make this video because this is a problem many face and it needs to be talked about more. I also want to mention that after taking stimulants for too long, you can develop a sensitivity to them which can cause new side effects. They can also become less and less effective over years of abuse and often cause nutritional deficiencies that can counteract their effect and worsen side effects as well. This diminishing returns effect happens with most drugs. It's called chasing the dragon. I was on the exact same form (no changes between generics) of dextroamphetamine for over a decade and I experienced all of the issues you described by the end of my abuse of it. It was like my body was rejecting it before it could completely waste me. Anyway, getting off of stimulants is absolute hell, kudos to you for facing it and overcoming this.

A regular Doctor gave him Adderall with the same side effects as my daughter. WTH! I can’t get any help for them. S.O.S! I can’t do this anymore by myself.

I don’t remember what it was like to feel myself off of the meds. The last time I went cold turkey I almost lost my job due to my lack of performance and a 0.01% of motivation to even get out of bee. I hope to get off one day, the thought is also truly terrifying. I’m 23 years-old uncertain of my college degree, but I would delete myself if I was stuck minimum wage. As I am not even earning enough to get buy, with an adderall addiction that is awaiting to tear me apart one day…. I guess it’s the joys of life

Hey Jimbo, I’ve been prescribed 40mg amphetamine salts extended release since 2017. My diet was so bad and it got to the point where every time I took my dose I would have extreme anxiety. I’m glad you’re putting out your story on this. I think the majority of people that are prescribed this drug (and use it appropriately) have a really positive experience, but it’s important for those who have a bad one to know they aren’t alone. I personally am on extended release and very frequently take days off. The fact that I’m able to not take it for 3-4 days and still feel good is the reason I feel comfortable being on it for the last 2 years. But again yeah, once you start taking a lot more than you were prescribed it can just get out of control, and it’s important to talk about. So thanks for sharing and being vulnerable!

I just stopped eating and sleeping so had to come off them anyway because I lost my mind and became delirious and had hallucinations. The withdrawl after a couple of weeks was pretty intense. I was pacing around and ranting the first day I didn't take it.
