Hi Mindy! First of all THANK YOU so much for your comment. I’m so glad that my story could help you feel a bit more at ease about surgery! Wishing you a smooth recovery, and sending you healing energies as you go through your laparotomy. Please feel free to email me (alicea.moore13@gmail.com) or comment any questions you have. Any and all questions are welcome! When I went through my diagnosis I found there wasn’t a whole lot of information on my condition, and know exactly how that feels. You’ve got this, and you’re absolutely amazing!💫💞

I have my preop appointment tomorrow so im watching peoples videos on their experience with this type of surgery and condition. I prefer taking a holistic approach to medicine and wellness so coming to terms with having a dermoid cyst was a hard pill to swallow because i know there is nothing i can do to make it go away on its own. I’ve never had any major procedures done and avoid taking pharmaceuticals unless I absolutely have to so this is so nerve wracking for me. Thank you for sharing your experience, it gives me hope and reassurance that everything will be okay.

There’s nothing worse then being fobbed off by the medical professionals. I had battled for years with what I thought was just unbearable period pain as that was when I felt in most agony. It got to the point where I was violently throwing up and bed bound for weeks. I finally got diagnosed with a dermoid cyst which was attached to my ovary🙁🙁 I was so worried for surgery but I just knew I had to get it done! I couldn’t live in pain anymore. My surgery lasted 4 hours, my cyst was supposed to be 14cm but ended up being 15cm. Thankfully my ovary wasn’t damaged or removed. I’m currently in the recovery stage, it’s been exactly a week since my operation and I can walk without being in pain. But I am so so drained. I hope I recover ASAP!! It’s really good seeing videos like this as when i first got diagnosed I was so unsure on what was going on!

Wow, I definitely feel the same way. I had dealt with pain for quite some time as well not knowing what it was. I always make sure to tell people to request an ultrasound if your doctor doesn’t take your abdominal pain seriously. I’m so glad that your surgery was successful and you’re starting to feel better! Sending your healing on your recovery journey. ❤️

GIRL!!! holy cow. I’m halfway through your video and I’m blown away. Those cysts were HUGE! and on top of that you were still able to give birth. Wow. Such strength. 2 going on 3 days ago I had the Salpingo Oophrectomy Laparoscopic surgery done on my left side. I had a dermoid cyst that was twisted up in my ovary. It was about 10 cm. They took the cyst, my left ovary, and left fallopian tube I didn’t even know I had it until the end of October. I was in a car accident and had to get an mri. Then in November I had an ultra sound done, I think to confirm everything. I never had any issues though. My periods and cramping were normal, some months were a bit worse, but nothing crazy. And I also started to get that sharp feeling every now and again, but I brushed it off. I just think it’s crazy that if not for being in a car accident, I’d still be out doing my thing completely unaware of it. As far as my pain goes, it’s been it’s been a very low level. I honestly thought I’d be in a lot more pain. But really it just feels like I did like a lower ab work out mixed with a bit of cramping. I am very thankful for that. I wanted to share my story bc I haven’t seen this talked about enough.

What an intense journey you've been on. I had a laparotomy 8 days ago. I'm 66 years old and have been in menopause for over 10 years. They removed a simple benign cyst 5 cm., one ovary and both fallopian tubes. I was told that cysts can recurr and since I'm way past menopause I felt like getting the ovary and tubes out would lesson the chance of recurrance and the possibility of ovarian cancer too so I was okay to have them removed. I too, was in pain for a long time, years, without knowing it was a cyst. Ten years ago I did an 8 day dance workshop with a lot of African dance moves, deep lunging and woke up in the middle of the night with extreme pain in my groin. My physician thought it was a tear/injury to my psoas muscle and didn't do much of a follow-up. I did have regular pap smears but nothing was detected during those exams. I did not have health insurance at that time. But I'm wondering if it could have been an ovarian cyst rupture. I have had pain in my right groin area since that injury or rupture that has steadily gotten worse. Over a month ago the pain was so bad I went to the ER. They initially diagnosed me with sciatica and were going to send me home but I insisted that there was something more going on. I was then given a CTscan. I now have Medicare and Supplemental Health Insurance. The scan showed the cyst. The ultrasound showed a simple, benign cyst. For the last several weeks I've been in a lot of pain waiting to get the surgery. I was anxious about going under anesthesia but the surgical team were so confident and reasuring I felt like I was in good hands. Once I met everyone who would be part of the surgical team I relaxed and let go. The surgery took about one and a half hours. I woke up and felt not too bad. They didn't make me go to the bathroom but discharged me soon after I woke up. I could barely stand up and felt very shakey. They kept telling me to breathe deeply, drink and eat something. It was a painful car ride to my home and I sat in the car throwing-up for awhile into a bag they gave me before I could get up and into the house. At that point in time I was on heavy duty pain meds. One of the biggest discomforts was the CO2 gas. They have to pump CO2 into the abdominal cavity to make more room to see the organs. The gas gets trapped inside your body and takes awhile to be absorbed. I read that blowing into a straw into a glass of water every hour for a few minutes would help lessen the affects of the gas. And it helped tremendously. The first couple nights the gas sensation was so uncomfortable that I could not lie down, it was too painful. I sat up the first two nights. But after blowing into the straw every hour I could lie down comfortably on my back with two pillows under my knees and slept well. I've felt very groggy, headachey, lightheaded and emotional. For two days I cried uncontrollably which I hear is how anesthesia affects some people. I really needed someone with me for emotional support. Not everyone has that ability to comfort and nurture. Some friends can do that others can't. I was able to walk right away and have been taking daily short walks. The gynecologist said I would be good to return to work in a few days. No way. Way too out of it. I would like to take a month off if I can. This is going to take awhile to have a full recovery. I drove myself to the grocery story on day 7 and it was too much for me to do a quick shopping. I was sobbing after 15 minutes and had to have someone help me out to my car. It wasn't from pain but rather from the afteraffects of all the drugs. After surgery I took very little pain medication. Two ibuprofin total and 1 dose of oxycodone. My belly is still very bloated and sore but I'm on the mend. If you are going to have the surgery, I would make sure you have friends or relatives taking turns being your support person. Watching KZbin videos by women who have undergone the surgery is really good preparation because they know what it is like. Everybody will have their own unique experience for sure. I really appreciate you making this video and I hope you are all recovered and fully restored.

Thank you so much for sharing your story so eloquently. You shared so many things I had no idea about which is making me feel way more informed :) I’m scheduled to get laparoscopy surgery for a 7.5 cm dermoid cyst on one ovary, and 2 cysts about 3.5 cm each on the other. I am so nervous and want to cancel. I’ve had these cysts for over a Decade and they have been growing very slowly. I have no pain and my cycle is perfectly regular. I have been advised to get surgery because of their size and the risks of torsion. I don’t want to lose any ovaries and I am afraid the surgery could affect my fertility. I definitely want another baby. I feel very anxious and troubled about all of this. Of course I’m also nervous for the surgery itself and the recovery.

@aliceamoore
@aliceamoore 2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question! So I had dermoid cysts which are congenital and according to the doctor there’s no way to prevent them from coming back. However I have heard a lot of people say that making changes to their diet and taking Apple Cider Vinegar have helped prevent ovarian cyst growth altogether. Most of these people experienced functional cysts which are fluid filled and not solid masses like dermoid cysts. I’m definitely not an expert on this but you can take a look online for diet options to prevent cyst growth! Hope this helps! ❤️☺️

@@blessingofficialworld Dermoid cysts are congenital so you’re born with them and they grow over time. Some people never have issues with them, or know that they have them because they never grow to a size large enough to cause issues. They are considered teratomas which are tumors that grow within the body. Thankfully mine were not malignant. Instances of regrowth after surgical removal are rare but not impossible.
