I just ordered my first modular case and modules to use with my deluge. I saw your previous 0coast video and was inspired by that. This is exactly what I needed to see. Thank you Synthdad

Got a brand new Chasing Lights on the way for my percussion rack. Can't wait to toss it into some logic modifiers. Great video as always sir!

Simply brilliant! I really appreciate these patch breakdowns as I always learn something new. Now I need to give some love to my Deluge as well. Chasing lights looks like a fun sequencer.

Thanks! Chasing Lights is a very handy little step sequencer for creating fun rhythms!

This was packed with information thank you! Really love seeing your continued videos on integrating the Deluge with other gear. If I could request: I'd love to see another video like this with broader MIDI integration and more responsibilities handled by the Deluge paired with a smaller rack? A few specifics: - Could we have the Deluge be the coordinator of the polyrhthyms via different length clips and/or the recent firmware additions? - Could we have the Deluge own more of the filters and effects chain. I'm unsure what the best path would be here. A clip from line in where Deluge is used live for the effects? Some control and ergonomics would be sacrificed this way, but would reduce quite a few modules. - Could we have the Deluge provide modulation via MIDI CC, paired perhaps with a Shuttle Control / Mutant Brain. Is the MidiHub still something you're using? Ultimately and collectively this would be a less nuanced, less flexible, less performative instrument, but with some merits as well (you can pick up the Deluge and do some work portably). Cheers for your Deluge + 4MS SWN videos those are a bit like what I'd like to see more of to the depth you've done here.

Very usefull as i am considering getting into modular to expand my Deluge! A couple questions came in mind as i was watching your video: why do you use sequencer modules in your rack? Can't you just sequence everything on the Deluge? What benefit do you get from sequencing stuff on dedicated modules? Also, wouldn't it be more conveniant to connect the Deluge to the rack with a MIDI converter module? Again, very good content! Thank you!

Lots of good questions there: Sometimes you want to take advantage of in-rack sequencers for the features they have, for example randomising or pitch-shifting notes. Alternatively you can use an in-rack sequencer as a source of CV modulation for other modules (e.g. filters). And there are times where it's just fun to mix it up a bit and have the eurorack modules do some of the sequencing directly. Remember: in eurorack everything is just a voltage! If you do have a MIDI-to-CV module then it's easy to sequence everything over MIDI but a) they're expensive especially if you want more than 2 notes of CV/gate and b) they take up precious hp in your rack! So it makes sense at times to just use CV/gate from the Deluge directly into the rack. A good alternative is the CV.OCD module which sits outside the rack, creates up to 4 CV/gate pairs plus is programmable to generate clocks. It's a desktop version of the Mutant Brain module, recently re-released by Erica Synths.

@@SynthDad Thank you for your answer, i appreciate it a lot! I will keep watching your videos and practice on VCV Racks to develop a better understanding of what i want/need. Take care, and keep up the good content :)

Help! Why does the cv from my Deluge output pitches that are way higher than the pitch shows on the deluge (example c3 outputs something like a c6)

What do you have your oscillator tuned to (and what oscillator module is it?)

@@SynthDad I have my plaits and elements set to c right up the middle and the plaits is calibrated using 1 and 3 volts per the manual
@SynthDad
@SynthDad Жыл бұрын
@@matthewdavis473 So if you have your Plaits on C3, and then send a CV corresponding to C3 from the Deluge, the voltage from the CV is added to the frequency setting to give C6 - oscillators typically add the incoming frequency CV to the base frequency knob setting. Turn the frequency knob all the way down to 0 on Plaits and you'll get the notes you dial into the Deluge (give or take a few semitones)
