My Thoughts On Ghost Recon Wildlands

A lot of new footage about the game Ghost Recon Wildlands has dropped these past few days and I just wanted to go over it real quick and let you know how I currently feel about the game.

He makes a really good point about us only seeing 2 missions played through, and both were obviously as staged as last year's dark zone trailer. Usually, when this guy sees something as broken, it is. Hes right about the clunky animations as well. This game looks half bakes. They haven't launched the Last Stand update for the divions, and they just pumped out Steep, For Honor beta which the game launches next month, and then we get Wildlands. You should have some respect for the caution that MarcoStyle is recommending for this game. He cares more about his viewers than Ubisoft does about its consumers. You can't argue with that either, or you haven't seen the developer E3 gameplay for each of, and played each of AC UNITY, WATCHDOGS, RAINBOW SIX SIEGE, THE DIVISION and FARCRY 4. with their history of graphical downgrades and broken mechanics, constant patches and nerfed weapons and gear, always apologizing, I'd think you'd be a little more open minded about criticism of the company that's taken south of your money. if you haven't bought and play any or a lot of those games, and don't follow Ubisoft, then why are you invested in this game, And just assuming that someone is doing early review?. Dugentey Well, I wasn't actually wanting say anything negative, cause I'm already an asshole enough. But I don't personally like either of those guys. I'll be honest and say that I haven't watched skill up as much as Luke butter, but I feel that skill up is factually wrong more often than not, and Luke butter is whiney little bitch who complains about game mechanics more than helping people understand them. Atleast In his Division videos I've seen. Any idea how many times I've heard "A shock turret bro, really?" His complaints get old, if hes doing pvp. better the graphics usually mean the harder my comp has to work lol I used to be one of those guys who had to get the best grahpics quality but nowdays I'm more about the gameplay experience. If I find the game engaging then I don't really notice the graphics so much, they should help to immerse you in the playing world not be the only drawcard. Can be a double edged sword like ARMA where u want to use terrain and vegetation to your advantage but goes to shit when the AI can see you through it all pretty easily.

Thats the thing, even when people say The Division and Wildlands are two different games, fact is they are the same in perspective, you do the story, you finish the content and thats it. Only difference is TD gives you more grind to max out, and the horrible pvp (and lets face it, it will always be horrible, Last Stand MIGHT just make 1 thing about pvp good in TD)

Going to also talk about this in my video but this game really reminds me of socom which is why i wanna give this game a chance. i think the graphics could 100% do better but i see so many people shitting on this game before even giving it a chance. it has potential. i think once the beta comes out you should make an impression video since the game will of course be more polished and clear errors that you pointed out would hopefully be fixed (Big HOPEFULLY) but we'll see. good video man.

Exactly. This is basically ARMA/Original GR/Far Cry/Mercenaries/Just Cause/SOCOM having some weird C.I.A storyline baby. Lol. This will be great for Role Playing guys or Hardcore tac teams. You can remove all HUD elements and the highest difficulty will get you one shotted by npcs. If they gave us a mission creator or the ability to create your own map with enemy placement and assets, this would be the closest thing to ARMA console will ever get.

First off, @MarcoStyle: I truly appreciate the Division content you've put out. There are dozens of 'big' KZbinrs that cover the game but you are one of very few that I have a lot of respect for. Secondly: Your videos are always (in no particular order) informative, entertaining, relevant, helpful, in-depth, honest, positive (in the sense that you can see the good and the bad in everything and you don't sit around complaining and whining), and consistently professional. You put effort into your graphics and the overall branding of your channel. Thirdly: You carry yourself and your scripts as a professional and always seem to show respect for your viewers, other content creators and other gamers. Lastly: You are a professional and act like it. It's totally appreciated and anyone with as large of an audience as you have should understand that acting like a professional (but always true to who you are) is important. I appreciate that you understand that acting like a pro doesn't mean that you have to act like a stuffy fucking suit--it just means you act with respect, speak with clarity and make an effort to impact and provide your audience with the best content you can make. There are WAY too many other KZbinrs out there with massive followings that act like complete fucking tools and children with no respect. For fuck's sake, Like Butter was fucking eating pancakes, chewing loudly and speaking with food in his mouth and smacking his motherfucking lips through the FUCKING MIC. What can you tell me about the replayability specifically? I enjoy playing Division and RE5-6 with a friend or two very often and we do zone completion in Division and then dailies. Does Wildlands have much of it, or do the devs have future additions planned to keep people playing?

Solid video. I didn't have this game on my radar at all until recently and admittedly I am actually looking forward to seeing how it pans out once the reviews start to drop. To me this looks like what I was hoping The Division would be more like as opposed to a numbers shooter. I will say that the graphics, animations and textures really remind me of the old SOCOM series. Which isn't a bad thing because those games were really fun. However, for a current gen shooter I expect a bit more than I'm seeing as of right now. I think they went size size size and skimped on the quality of both the visual and functional aspects of the game and possibly the content as well. Which, I am hoping isn't the case because I've been starving for a game like this.

I have seen a few people post their thoughts and opinions on this game. Yours I respect. you spoke very honest about your opinions and still gave some lee way to things may change. Some peoples opinions were tooting their own horn way to much. Rather they change or not keep up the good work on being a game critic.

Marco is a tremendously talented KZbinr with an excellent affinity towards analytical analysis and I appreciate the hard work he puts into his work. He is clearly motivated to do great for his community, so thank you Marco! However, I have a little different take on this game and his early impressions. Any game that is giving the player the ability to determine how to approach the missions and it can be done completely non-linear in an open world, that is impressive game development. Anyone that covers and plays the Division as much as this community should not be worried about repetitive gameplay missions. Being loot-drunk for the last 10 months running in circles learning hip-fire is pretty darn repetitive :). The local casino and slots might be a better fix, meanwhile, some of us prefer playing poker, where decision making, forecasting, patience, and patterns matter. The unique elements of Wildlands are how you and your squad approaches them and the conditions of the open world when you do it. They are wide open and abundant. I did not see a single youtube player on the single player's side of recent footage issuing forward command orders to their squad during a mission. They played the game like a first person shooter overlooking the tactical capabilities available to you as a squad leader. As I have often said, "You can give a twitch gamer a tactical game to play, but you can't ever make a twitch gamer tactical." Anyone who has been with Ghost Recon since 2001 would ideally know that issuing squad commands and taking a tactical approach is the draw to this game. The playground you are being given in this game is a tactical player's paradise. Sure it's graphics may not be the best you have ever seen, but that open-world looks very alive with possibilities. Sound design and ambiance sounded tremendously impressive as well. Keep up the good work Marco, you do a great job!

Hey Marco I'm willing to bet a lot of the graphical differences you mentioned could be due to the gameplay trailer put out by Ubisoft being played on a monster PC with every graphics option set to ultra and all the demo gameplay from other KZbinrs was recorded on consoles. I'm not saying that would account for all of the graphical changes but I would bet that it could be a contributing factor.

Ghost recon wildlands has been a nightmare. Bugs stopping story progression, unable to deploy the drone randomly, getting shot through walls and cover, enemies respawning right on me in stealth story missions. If you can get past the bugs, it's fun.

I like it because it is up to you to try out multiple approaches. a lot of the gamers who have it play it like other games. I think it is up to the player to be creative and set their own personal goals

Marco great video with some excellent thought put in to it, there is a lot of negativity for this game, not from yourself but from general public. You're right to be skeptical of the story missions but can I just add that the reality of taking out a huge syndicate like the cartel would in fact involve a hell of a lot of strike ops and HVT lifting not killing. the only way to gather Intel on such organisations is by doing exactly that, yes I agree it doesn't make much for a game due to repetitiveness so hopefully not all the main missions will be like this. or perhaps if they are this is why they put in side missions to beef up the rest of the game.

Marco is 100% right. I don't think we're ready for an open world Ghost Recon game, I would've wanted an Advanced Warfighter 3 or Ghost Recon Future Soldier 2. Our technology just isn't there to have a game that's fluent, and bug free with great visual fidelity. I could be completely wrong, but I can't wait to see what's offered in the beta.

So let me ask, when playing in single player mode will we have squad mates accompanying us on our missions?, and if so how many? Also if we do have squad mates in single player mode will be able to give them orders? or jump from player to player and play the game as seen through their eyes?

Bob Anderson you will have 3 squad mates at all times regardless of the mission and yes you can give them orders,and no you cant jump between characters you only play as you're ghost

It's the same Ubisoft formula for all of its games. Open up an area on the map, do a bunch of missions in said area, rinse and repeat. I recall RockPaperShotgun calling it 'Ubisoftitis' :p

There should be some missions where you have to completely destroy a base. Like demolition style.

If they implemented something like adaptable ai, where if you attack a certain mission one way, that way becomes more heavily defended everywhere else, so you cannot repeat the same tactic

This game, with HUD markers turned off for the enemy, and on highest difficulty setting, is actually very fun. I don't care for the vehicles physics, but I must say there is interesting interplay with them in some scenarios in terms of tactics, extraction, limiting enemy escape, etc. With a few tweaks this game could be amazing. It's now a question of how fast can Ubisoft patch it up...

shadow of mordor's nemesis system would be perfect for a game like this or far cry. allowing you to play with the world a little more. I think this would help the seemingly repetitive gameplay loop of capturing enemies and outposts.

I can't wait for this game. it looks like allot of fun. I don't understand why everyone compares this to GTA or far cry. I see maybe the driving from GTA or map from far cry but not really the other stuff. this is way more in depth. if I had to pick a game it would resemble, I would have to pick Mercenaries. Witch was a amazing military sandbox for its time. Can't wait to take out some bad guys with my buddies and looking forward to more of your videos on wildlands.

I stopped halfway FC4 because of the same rinse & repeat gameplay we had since FC3 with the outposts and towers. this looks exactly thd same with some Division elements thrown in.

Very sceptical of this game. Looks cool, lots of customisation and freedom so far which easily hooks me, but what i like to call the "Touch of Ubisoft" is going to affect this game too, meaning it'll get downgraded to near No Man's Sky level.

Thanks Marco for the vid. So this looks like an arcade style tactical shooter with a GTA5 vibe. The Division supposed to be a cover based squad shooter but turned out to be a shoot drop and roll gun fest. It's still fun but not what we expected. Let's hope that GRW also is enjoyable and has some hardcore or meta elements to keep all players interested.
