i got a michael kors watch in junior high. it was about 3 days after i bought it that i realized it was garbage. knowing that i never wanted to wear a cheap watch again i started saving every dollar i got my hands on until 4 years later, in my senior year of high school, i was able to buy a panerai. so the moral of the story is that michael kors watches are great..... at making you never want to wear one again and giving you the drive to make sure you never do.

Great video! Sad truth is, 99% of people are more interested in fashion than watches, and 80% of fashion is marketing. MK is undeniably good at marketing, and it works. MK doesn't care about watchmaking, and neither do their customers. I, we, know that their watches are hideous and overpriced, but if I were running the company, I wouldn't change a thing, cause making money ain't got nothing to do with watchmaking.

Went to macys earlier tonite, in one case, they had Seiko, Citizen Bulova, and G-Shocks. The other case had all the fossil group watches (MK, Armani Exchange etc etc etc) the "girls" (i use that term extremely loosely, looked like they were headed to a gangbang, with gamgbangers) looking at the MKs etc were the kind that set you up for their homies from the hood.

Little confession, I am a man who owns Seikos and Orients and I have never received so many compliments than with my Michael Kors two tone Layton. Unfortunetely, women rarely know about Seiko or Orient (and I don´t have money to buy anything more expensive). Timex and Swatch do not have the brand recognition for a woman as a designer´s watch and frankly I don´t fucking care what watch aficionados think I want to impress with my watch, especially I want to impress women and them don´t give a fuck about movement or heritage, for them is just about the looks and if it is a brand they recognize, as simple as that.

I don’t know anyone who’s actually spent $300 on a Michael Kors watch. I bought my girlfriend one for just over $100 off of amazon as her first watch. And here’s the thing, it’s a brand she recognizes and actually wants to wear. If I bought her a seiko or a citizen watch, I know it’s just going to end up catching dust on the dresser. At the end of the day, she’s out there enjoying her watch. Talk crap all you want about these fashion watches but it’s companies like Michael Kors that are getting the younger generation into a market that is desperately in need of help. Something that traditional watch companies are clearly failing to do.

I own a Michael Kors watch, It was given to me as a gift. I hate it so much but it was a gift so I kept it. I own affordable watches like SKX007-13, 2 Samurai, 1 SARB, 1 Alpinist, Orient Bambino Gen 1 and 3, Vostok amphibian, Tissot, and a Grand Seiko. Would I even consider wearing an MK? Hell no.
