If you read on the pen it says not to spray a clear coat or gloss coat over the chrome. You put the chrome on last and that’s what I’ve been doing and I’ve never had a problem. I just mask off where the chrome goes on and spray the car then I put the chrome on and I have a refill bottle got from amazon and you can airbrush this chrome. Best I’ve ever used. Nice looking 57.

I love the finish on these markers but they're very hard to control. In other words if you want straight lines you're going to have to mask off areas where you're going to be using this stuff. It tends to wander if you try to free hand it because it flows alot.

my 1mm did the same thing. I contacted the company and they let me know why and how to fix it. overpumping will cause the tip to get full. I removed the tip and dried it off then separated the two pieces. I cut the ends off a plastic q-tip and inserted it into the tip and blew it out. Started working again

FUBAR Model Yard Thats good to know! Ive got the 1 and 2mm versions, and as of now my 1mm is the go to pen. Figured the tip will screw up sooner than later!

The 2mm chrome pen is a must have for any model maker. The stuff is just miraculous.

Miraculous if you encase your model in a glass box and never touch the chromed parts, perhaps.

Tamiyas clear coat is fast drying and has a very good long lasting shine.

What varnish did u use for this or sealer?

The 1mm nib needs to be used as close to a 90 degree angle as possible. It might not actually be clogged. Try turning it more upright.

I had the same trouble with my pens but I now safely crack the back open and pour the paint in empty testors bottles and brush on with fine line detail brushes, and you can’t touch it to much if you get it laid in one clean stripe it’s chrome but if you break or go over it can end up kind of matte

The chrome product is great, my #1 pen leaks around the tip but i use the small Tamia swabs to do the fine parts and it works great. I have started using the Rustoleum 2X clear and have had some good results.

I think the small tip pens problem is that the small tip dries out and will not flow anymore. I had the same problem twice. But the chrome stuff inside is awesome!!

This video was 5 years ago, I recently purchased the 1mm tip paint pen, and mine works perfectly. Note: You do need to shake it with the tip up and let the air out of it every once in a while. Other than that no problems with mine. Just follow the directions.

Your mistake was using alcohol to unclog it. Alcohol causes it to act like blood hitting air, it coagulates in a way. In the future use paint thinner for that type. Some paint pens clean up with super clean and clog when using paint thinner. You have to test to see what works best for whichever product your using.

I saw that in the pictures, but those blemishes are not on the model. They were reflections on camera!

I was wrong about where to get the refill for the Molotow pens. I did look on Amazon and they do care it. It cost about $29 plus $6.50 in shipping. The refill supposed to refill 7 pens. So in the long run it would be cheaper to get the refill than the pens.

My 1mm flooded so I had a very chromed model! The end falls out of the pen as well but if you can keep it all together the results can be very satisfactory.

That's a known issue with the 1mm version.
