Yeah, the roster is going to be nutty as a "forever" game model. Also the lore is already so fleshed out, its easy to get invested in characters and stages, and whatnot. Im so looking forward to seeing Fiddlesticks and Warwick as two likely monster characters.

People thought this game was going to be easy because no motion inputs... well, they were wrong. It is stacked with mechanics to make up for it that makes your decision making the big factor, which is truly what seperates players and even people who do team-based sports from the rest.
@dakys3660
@dakys3660 Жыл бұрын
Well if you're talking about team based sports, mechanics (skills) are a huge part of them too. Maybe the main reason why fighting games are not emulating well real life sports is because they are often quite limited on mechanics and are more focused on decision making. Footsies, option select, oki, mixups, etc. are really the core of the game while combos are just learnt in a few hundred of hours (which is ridiculously low if you compare it with real life sports or rocket league for example)
@BurnettGaming
@BurnettGaming Жыл бұрын
This is what I'm so excited about. I've always hated motion inputs, they feel like an artificial barrier to what should be the interesting part of fighting games, the decision making and the strategy and reactions and creativity. Motion inputs have always felt like they're an unnecessary barrier between a new player and the fun parts of the game.
@dakys3660
@dakys3660 Жыл бұрын
@@BurnettGaming motions inputs are a way to balance your game actually. The more complex is the motion the more frame you need to make your move and the less you can use it in reaction. Like if you got your super that is invincible at starting frames and you can use it without motion inputs your opponent is literally blocked bcs at the first move he makes you can react to it instantly and counter hit. And from my experience motion inputs are a bit hard to learn and represent 30-40 hours to execute them properly in game but they arent the most difficult part of combos. It's much harder to time your hits bcs it is not just chaining your buttons at the exact same pace but it's about having the proper rythm for sometimes a 13-15 hit combo, and this game seems to have some long combo. For example I had harder time doing combos on dbfz that has almost no motion input than in sf6 that has heavy motion inputs combos

I'll just say as someone who's not a huge fgc person, this game aesthetically and look wise is really intriguing. I played League and so having an interest in the characters and the world makes me super interested in the game. If you tell me the game is free to play, and I can log in practice time without feeling like I'm losing anything and in the age of KZbin, people start releasing guides to learn the game, I'm very interested and definitely want to give it a strong try.

I really hope the main competitive mode will be 2v2. I feel it's going to be more hype to watch, and add the level of having two people synchronize. An issue I could see with that mode is that if Player 1 is stomping with a character, there may be no reason for Player 2 to tag in: however from the little I've see it looks like the reward from assists is important to an effective gameplay. We'll see. Anyway, this game is on track to be a massive earthquake in the scene

I`ve been waiting for this one, but I`m stoked about the 2v2! Can`t wait to get my hands on it, but I`m also wondering how they`re going to balance out the 2v2 player where every player gets enough on-screen time. I`m thinking about if you have a team up where one team member is super skilled and the other member is a novice (that scenario will probably happen a lot with families and friends). Can the skilled team player "hog" the screen time? I`m really curious about how they`re going to handle that scenario (otherwise little brother will never get a chance to play🤣)!

Whichever looks cooler. At the moment SF6 is great and designed to help new players. Tekken 8 and Mortal Kombat 1 are also coming out soon. At last Guilty Great Strive is a little older but it is "anime" style (like this game). Anime style games are very jumpy, fast moving, with a lot of air play. I would recommend Dragon Ball Fighterz but it is a laggy game. I love it but haven't fixed the lag (even though they promised they will)

whichever game you think is coolest. the thing that will keep you playing fighting games wont be ease of access itll be interest. its the same with picking a character. dont be afraid of picking a hard game/character as long as you like them. if you pick a game or character because they're beginner friendly but dont really care for them there wont be that motivation to improve. it takes time to learn fighting games like it does with everything, so having that motivation is important.

guilty gear strive is definitely a super good one to start on. The game is eye candy (if you’re fine with the anime fighter aesthetic), pretty low skill floor, a lot of online resources/tutorials to learn the game fairly quickly, flashy and beautiful supers (it’s hand-drawn 30 fps, which is basically Mappa quality), easy combos, and a roster that appeals to a wide range of playstyles. Definitely my #1 rec if you wanna learn the handles of a fighting game. Since Project L is set to be a tag fighter, if u wanna familiarize yourself with tag mechanics, go check out bbtag, mvc3, or skullgirls
@Alienrun
@Alienrun Жыл бұрын
I'm gonna give you the best answer here: If your just starting out this is what you do... 1. Start with the game that gets your attention the most. This can be cause the graphics are cool, you like the characters, its been on your mind recently, or you like the playstyle (think Smash vs normal FGCs) 2. After you familiarize yourself with the mechanics and possibly get bored of the game (which might happen if the game isn't that well designed or you've yet to discover a game you ACTUALLY want to play) try something that's similar but that you think you'll like better...or if your more adventurous...try something new. (don't over do this...unless you perfer to be a fighting game archivist rather than someone trying to get good at one game lol) 3. The main reason to get into "new games" (with the exception of Melee cause that game ain't ever dying out lol) is to play the same game as a bigger scene...as leffen himself put it, he's more interested in mainstream FGs cause they have more money involved...as operating soley on "raw passion" isn't feasible in the long run. If you don't care about any of that just play literately whatever you want. Make a custom mugen build and play that with your friends and mess around with anything that looks interesting if that sounds interesting to you. FGs can be just as much a single player experience (as in, you go on a journey playing a game, replay it if you enjoy it, then move on to something else when you feel like it) as it is a social experience. It doesn't become "try to become the best in the world" unless you make it that...granted...a lot of the appeal in fighting games is self improvement, so naturally when you first start getting good that thought will be in your head...at least the idea of trying to do that...but it can be taxing if real life stuff starts to interfere (or the other way around), so do be cautious of that...take a step back if you feel you need to is all I'm saying...perspective is important ya know! 4. If you want to ignore step one and want to make sure your first game is "the best one" then do some reasearch and see which game has mechanics you think you'll like the most long term. If you find the advance mechanics too...hard to parse instinctually...then just look at the basic mechanics and how the relate to each other. Also...don't be afraid of the game seeming "too hard" or "too complicated"...generally speaking these mechanics won't get in the way of you finding the fun in the minutia of learning. (at first anyways...later on the more advanced stuff might gel with you more) 5. Just play Melee lol :P

Good players don't fight new players outside of the first week. They quickly move on to higher ranks, and by the time new players reach those ranks, they've already moved even further ahead. So unless you go out of your way to look to match up with really good players, new players will be fine as long as they stick to ranked. You usually stay fighting people around your level.

One thing I hope they consider looking at early is the HUD/UI in matches. The top HUD stuff seems a bit low and intrusive by fighting game standards and even the little popups like interrupt/handshake tag having like a whole box that it sits in that goes over the characters seems like it can take away from some visual clarity depending on how much can happen on-screen at once.

Really looks like this game is going to be THE general fighting game that a lot of players will start of with from when it's getting released and widespread in the public and maybe even default to Like shooters have csgo/cod Football has fifa And fighting games will have ProjectL (For anyone wondering, no I don't mean it's the best or anything like that but it will be the fighting game that will start to get picked up the most by new people)

I think it could be a widespread fighting game but only because it’s free unlike tekken 8 and SF6 which are like $70 or so. If project L was also $70 I’m not so sure it would compete with established titles. Are league players gonna play a fighting game or are they gonna just keep playing league, answer is clear to me

Funny Leffen even explains that he wouldnt have a one sided opinion based on being paid for the testing. Anyone who knows Leffen or has followed him for a minute know that would never be the case haha. But I know people who don't know him will find this video. This guy is the realist dude ever. Sometimes toooooo real haha.
