Sinn today is a bit like Rolex of yesteryear: Solid, reliable toolwatches with a movement not out of the ordinary, built to take a beating, but without the status, luxury and price associated with Rolex of today. The price of an entry level Sinn is not too different from the price of an entry level Rolex decades ago (adjusted for inflation).

For the longest time I had never seen a Sinn in person. I thought they were alright based on pictures on insta! But after seeing them in person, handling them, listening to the experience of the people who own them… I AM CONVINCED! Sinn are DOPE watches. Really well made, great designs, and Dang affordable! 👏🏻❤️

Hi Britt, I have a Sinn 857S UTC in silicon strap. Its a beautiful watch, I use them when I go for my beach holidays. anyways I don't dive with my watch on. I'm a Pilot for an international airlines, I wear them to countries where I don't want to be mugged, so my Rolex and Cartier stays home.

Glad to hear your opinions on Sinn, I have the exact 104 as the thumbnail you displayed. It’s my ‘travel watch’ as few thieves recognize the quality, yet it has good water resistance (mine has even survived the Dead Sea) and is quite versatile and durable.

I’ve never really considered sinn. Saw a bunch of positive reviews. But then 3 months ago while on a holiday trip I got to see the 556i, 103, 104, 356 in person. They were exceptional pieces. Just in it’s own design standards. Today I finally pulled the trigger and can’t wait to wear the heck out of the 556i. The absolute versatile gada tool watch.

I’ve worn my Sinn U1 blue for over 2 years. I work with my hands with hand tools in some very rough conditions. It’s my work watch. It still looks brand new. The tegiment tech is 100% legit. I’ve broken many lesser watches in less time. For the money, they are my favorite. If you work for a living and don’t want a dainty little watch. Sinn is the way.

Lucky you Fed, in Madrid! Happy New Year to you. I kind of agree with you about Sinn. I feel that they are watches you respect rather than love. I don't think they're ugly, actually, but they eschew styling touches in favour of being entirely purpose built. My U50 gives excellent service as my beach watch, is supremely comfortable and has chronometer level accuracy from its Sellita movement. I really like your channel and the industry insights you provide. 😀

My only gripe with Sinn is there to heavy on the day date complications on chronographs and everytime they do a no date chronograph its a special edition that is very annoying 😑I'm a bit of a no date purist. When it comes to chronographs and like them dateless and would like a option without a date with Sinn like they used way back in the day. If they do a no date 103 st diapal. I'll make a instant purchase. I also would like Fortis to do a no day date B-42 chronograph

Strikes me that Sinn is smart to restrict availability by ensuring a limited distribution channel (at least in the USA?). That means there's no Rolex AD carrying Sinn who can push (at a near-cost discount) the watches out to the gray market in exchange for coveted steel sports to their "preferred flipper". Every watch company should follow suit if they want to preserve their resale value.
@stuartclubb4302 Жыл бұрын
@George Grasser I doubt it would be seen that way. A monopoly would be if the only company that made watches restricted supply and their sales channel in order to . There are plenty of other watches you can buy, other than from Sinn.

I am surprised you said “Sinn watches are ugly”… I would say that they are tool watches, i have a Rolex and I love my Rolex GMT II coke. However, i have a Sinn U1 T-SDR which gets a ton of wrist time. Amazing functionality, well built watches with standard sellita movements. If anyone ever has a chance to visit Watchbuys roadshow, thats the place to be to try on the entire line of Sinn watches before you actually purchase your watch. That was exactly what i did back in 2019, thus i purchased a U1. True the Sinn bracelet are not refined enough for the case itself, i wear orher bracelets with U1.

To the Sinn (actual) owners, what is your experience with their coatings? They put them on both sides of the crystal rather than the usual underneath, which normally leads to visible scratches. Are their coatings any different?
@gregorypaulbox30352 жыл бұрын
I owned a Sinn U1 purchased in 2007 and the AR surface coating did eventually scratch after a number of years (sold after 11 years ownership). My Modell U200 SDR (from 2017) did not scratch and a 856S with the black hard coating on a 'Tegiment' case (from 2017) still looks like new.

I own a 6 month old U50 that’s worn daily. I’ve had it come in contact with granite countertops and the metal baseplate of my drill press with no scratches so far. Any marks have rubbed off with a bit of water and a towel. The crystal does smudge easily, but cleans up nice enough that it looks like it’s missing.

I’m really enjoying your channel. You tell it like it is. I think the Sinn designs are wonderful but I absolutely will not wear them anymore and have disposed of all of them because as you mentioned ETA movements and such or just not up to scratch for such well-made and in my opinion handsome watches. Their service center in the United States absolutely stinks and when I had issues with time keeping That is gaining or losing 20 seconds a day I had to send a watch to Germany and they came back not much better. For an workable increase of one to $200 per watch they could get outstanding movements elsewhere or develop their own in-house movement. Until then I’m sticking to Rolex Glasshutte Panera. Happy new year.

Sinn occupy the mid price sector, £1000, to £3000, very much as Oris and Tudor . In these terms many of their watches are good buys if you like their pilot watch type designs. Well made , the 104 is their Black Bay , 556 a versatile starter watch and their Chronographs are good value. Watches a tough but if you want toughness perhaps a Casio is a better bet.

agree that most Sinn are ugly - i think they're the lowest price point for a decent overall watch, and 556 / 558 are well balanced for busy looking pieces, but the rest i can't successfully navigate very well. the plainer end of what they do looks a little too plain, and the tool watches get chunky and inappropriate too easily. they've done some great designs over the years, but they don't seem to be very easy to look back over, either.
