In the dec video CC will stay the main format. Just blitz and LL will be given more support.

I really hope LL just stays a thing people do from time to time. It’s definitely important, especially as more heroes LL, but honestly I don’t really find it all that fun. It’s where so much broken nonsense happens

Agreed. Rhinar can't even come close to LL in CC, he's a nothing burger in the Living Legend format. The power level difference is just too hard to monitor.

Agreed. A true eternal format is basically impossible to design for without power creep. That's what happened to MtG modern the moment it became the premier comp format over standard.

I expect that LL will become more akin to legacy in MTG. It will never become the premiere, because its nature is to be a horrible ramp for new players. It's a format for the entrenched player, the established. I think it will become popular, I think we will even have a season that entirely focuses on it, or even have a PT be LL format. And I believe we will see it enter rotation as a format to play for armories. But it will never be the premiere.

Man if LL becomes the premier format that's gonna be the time to sell out. Don't see us attracting any new players with a Legacy Format. We should make Commoner a premier format before LL. Easier/Cheaper to get into for new players. Me personally CC>Blitz>Commoner/Clash>Everything else

Nah, the point of creating the LL list is to give a chance to other and new heroes to shine, a way to soft rotate the format and keep it fresh, the LL format is here for people that would be afraid of not being able to play their favorite cards, but no way should it be the main format, it's super expensive, top cuts are more than often held by banned heroes and the format will only get dumber with each and every set, not saying there isn't an audience and that it doesn't deserve some dedicated support but make it the focus and I think this game dies

I love how the FaB community is pretty much ok with and agrees when a card gets banned. Unlike another toxic tcg community that's in the news so much that they caused their RC to quit.

I'm both simultaneously excited to have mtg players leaving WotC to come and play a better game, and terrified of having to share the FaB community with some of the more problematic players

I was sad to see Art of War and Tome of Fyendal go but I was ultimately ok with the decision because Zen was doing some pretty disgusting things. My Nuu had a Zen on the ropes until he found his AOW then his 2nd AOW same turn. When he drew that 2nd I knew the game was over.

@@stg-so7qz Which is crazy because I am pretty sure Nuu was designed to be the counter for Zen. I don't like when cards get banned either, but sometimes it is worth it to nerf a broken hero.

I think living legend needs to be basically what blitz is now. Not the premiere competitive format but a more open format with interesting brewing options. Living legend is just too strong to make the premier format, it is not hospitable towards new players. As much as I dislike MtG, it makes sense that legacy and vintage are not their premier formats, they are not kind to new players. CC is the most balanced and direct format for new players to get into, especially as more armory decks come out.

Starvo get's a full season in CC, no bans. Zen get's 2 months before a restriction in CC, and another 2 months before getting totally nerfed in CC and Blirz. Kraken Aethervein sees play for the first time since February of 2022... IN ANY FORMAT... and it gets banned day one in LL. This is fine.

I guess I don't understand what the complaint is here? Are you saying that we should have either fixed Starvo/Zen sooner, or letting KA run rampant for a certain amount of time? FWIW, I do think it's fine. It's good that they recognized the problem and removed it quickly, and then talked about it.

@@EldritchMug Not a complaint, just an observation. And I'm happy that LSS owns up to it's mistakes. It makes them a genuinely likeable company. What's different about this ban though, is it doesn't hit their pocketbooks at all. Starvo sold ToA and EVR packs/boxes/cases, Zen sold MST and OUT packs/boxes/cases, KA sold... nothing, because it's a card from 2.5 years ago. That's why they can afford ban it after a single weekend of 'fun'. Unlike the other bans and restrictions that they didn't implement for months... before doing something about it. Just a thought and observation.

I mean also Kraken's is way beyond anything else in the game ever. Kraken's Verdance is 1000x better than every other deck combined and easily the strongest combo we've ever seen. Can't believe they even let it have 1 day tbh

Yeah I'm with lots of others, miss me with LL format. I don't mind that it exists or that it gets big tourneys, etc. but it should never take importance from CC

If LL is premiere format then I don't think most people would keep playing. Just like with blitz it's fun, but not balanced.

I hope it gets reprinted and capped on how many cards can be drawn. That said I do not like Living Legends as a format. I kinda wish Blitz would get its own season 😅

With an ever growing card pool I wonder if there would be any interest in a commander esque styled format where you can only play 1 copy of each card name type in a deck... no 9 copies and not even 3 copies with different pitch values
