I recently read The Pegan Diet, the latest book by Dr Mark Hyman. This isn't a "diet" book in the sense of "Here's how to lose a stone in a week!". Instead, it shares "21 practical principles for reclaiming your health in a nutritionally confusing world." Principle no. 1 is: "use food as your farmacy".
I was most definitely one of the "nutritionally confused" for most of my life. Up until I retrained as a health coach in my mid-40s, I would be regularly hit with blood sugar crashes which would wreck my mood and turn my brain to mush (not a great thing to be happening when you're the managing director of a busy consultancy). I had no idea at all that my food choices were actually making me feel rubbish.
Have a listen to my thoughts on a couple of the book's key lessons.
