There's a new approach to eating that you may have seen or read about: the pegan diet. It was coined by Dr. Mark Hyman to describe an eating style that anyone can personalize to their unique nutritional needs. He explains, "What I realized is there's a set of dietary principles that is actually foundational that pretty much nobody can disagree with."
In this video, Dr. Hyman outlines some of the principles of this approach to eating, including a plant-rich diet, good fats and sustainably raised animal products. "It's not a dogmatic diet, or rigid and you can mix and match and create all sorts of different eating patterns with it," he says. Watch the video to learn more.

They just said the Mediterranean diet is the best diet. I’m Greek and everyone in my family lives to be over 100. Olive oil is a human preservative.

Yes, I used to have all kinds of weird symptoms (vertigo, IBS, fatigue, inflammation, insulin resistance) and followed Dr. Hyman's Pegan Diet and it changed my life.. if you are feeling sick in any way.. and your labs keep coming out normal.. do yourself a favor, clean up your diet, add some exercise, and the difference is amazing

This indeed is the best diet plan I have ever seen. I am a physician as well, and have experimented with veganism for 2 years, but didn't feel well. Have moved around Paleo as well.

I’ve experimented with different diets , the vegetarian type diets didn’t work well for me , being a sporty type I felt weak , strength came back when I added protein back in the form of meat , fish , eggs . This is really interesting because it’s close to what I do now anyway . I’m on a keto type diet, with emphasis on healthy foods , about 70 percent vegetable , 30 percent meat/fish/eggs . Lots of healthy fats . Add more carbs in in the form of sweet potato around heavy exercise days . And cut back carbs on days where exercise is more moderate . Most of the time I am in ketosis , I can eat some carbs one day , (I do intermittent fasting most days) , if my first meal of the day is high fat low carb around midday , I’m back into ketosis straight away .

Been doing a vegetarian-Pegan diet for a week. So far it's been good.. it's very filling surprisingly. I feel light on my feet, getting bettter sleep, less tummy bloat, better glowing skin. It's nice 😁

I've been on KETO for two years and never happier. PEGAN sounds interesting and I'll read Mark's book on it. Very happy not being on big carbs anymore. They aren't the way to go.

Well, I still don't know what exactly this diet is, from this explanation. All it basically says is to eat natural foods. Meaning, cut out the processed plastic foods, sugar, etc. So just common sense eating? Like in the days b4 processed foods, etc?

This all sounds good, but the thing that always holds me back from the "no wheat, no flour" thing is that europe basically lived on wheat bread and beer for centuries. Yes, it was unrefined, whole grain, so that is key, but still, wheat/gluten and flour in itself can't be bad, right? Im confused.

If you can convince me a high fat diet is healthy, I'll try the Pegan diet. I like everything the Pegan diet offers except the high fat portion, which I'm thinking may contribute to more fat than not.

The big problem with animals being raised for meat is the effect on the environment including tremendous quantities of grain and water to produce the meat.

It's great that this option exists. However, as soon as you have a bite of meat, there's nothing vegan about it. It's just paleo. Call it Healthy Paleo, or Hegan. Don't even mislead people with the v word.

Veganism is an ethical/moral believe. How can you include fish (or exclude them from your moral considerations) and retain 80% of the word? Nothing about this diet has anything to do with veganism.

I generally agree, but 99% of people have no problem with gluten. You shouldn't demonize it for a slight minority.
