Van tool theft in the UK is on the rise, with a 25% increase in incidents over the past year. Between January 2021 and October 2022, there were 34,712 reported thefts from vehicles, a 62% jump from 2019-2020. On average, each van carries tools worth £2,500, leading to an estimated £4.4 billion spent annually on replacements, while lost workdays cost UK businesses around £5.2 billion per year. London is a hotspot, with 47% of van drivers reporting thefts in 2021/22, but the problem extends nationwide. Despite 94% of tradespeople investing in extra security, thefts continue to rise, with 44,514 tool thefts reported in 2023-one every 12 minutes.
