I started jogging at 180 pounds. I lost some weight but I got planters fasciitis in my right heal. That's when I discovered kettlebells. He's not kidding. Go easy on your joints when overweight or obese.

This is great advice! Since gaining a bunch of weight, exercising has become increasingly difficult to the point of chronic stress fractures in my feet. Managing the load on my feet, as well as impact, is really tricky. Glad I found this channel 👍🏽

I respect the HELL of Mark, BUT the most important aspect of weight loss is...your nutritional/caloric intake. Im NOT talking about any fade diets. Im talking about balance. A person can lose weight without exercise. Exercise does burn calories BUT a person will NEVER out work a BAD DIET. Study/Research food FIRST and exercise accordingly. What's your GOAL? Bodybuilding? Running a marathon? Power Lifter? Or getting into a 34" pair of pants?
@Elizabeth-yg2mg
@Elizabeth-yg2mg 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly--You can cut 500-1000 calories daily reducing intake; you're not going to use up that much exercising if you're fat or overweight. My real food portions have always been small but I'd developed a pop habit and was snarfing bags of cookies and potato chips. I had a mental turning point and ditched the pop and bags of junk. I do have some junk but cut way down and am getting smaller. Over time the junk isn't delicious anymore.

Fully agree with you but I think the video is focused more on exercise for weight loss. Agree nutrition is probably the most important thing, first, for weight loss.

So much common sense in one video, Subscribed!! and I feel vindicated against a gyms 20 something yo PT that was on me like white on rice to run laps, run sprints, box jumps, jump rope, etc. I didn’t hire him nor ask for his help but it was policy I suppose for him to go around and offer plans and advice. So I was as patient and as calm as I could be when I told him to go help someone else because they only way I’d even consider doing those things was after I reached my goal weight. I did find one of my friends to be workout partner, and by lifting weights with control and form addressed with little rest we had great results. He lost the 20 lbs he wanted plus gained maybe 30 in muscle, I lost 65 plus gained about the same in muscle. And now I have to do it all over again because life got in the way.

Jump rope. It's low impact if you do it right---which, now that I type that, is the point of this video that often overweight people have difficulty performing with a stable, correct technique. However, jump rope is bad a*s. Adding kettle bells to a jump rope routine though.. that's where I'm going next b/c of this channel. Awesome content!

Only one thing matters for weight loss, creating a calorie deficit (eating less calories than your body burns). Doesn't matter how you choose to do it, but by far the easiest and most effective means to achieving this (which no one likes to hear) is by simply eating less. As a rule of thumb a 500 calorie a day deficit translates to a 1 pound a week loss. Most overweight and obese people can lose significant amounts of weight without ever having to exercise or increase their daily movement.

I'm a 50+ guy who trained JiuJitsu for 7 months. Loved it. Still do. Then had an injury to my low back and have been unable to train since. I'm 66 and had lower back and cervical issues (herniated disks) and YES Kettle Bells help just go slow. I started with a 12 kg x 5 reps now I do 35 lb ( 1 pood 16 kg) x 20 reps swings, cleans between the knees. Admittedly I don't do 10 min is more like 30 I take a break in between, I'm an old guy. Great video keep up the great work!

Not necessary to use a kettlebell to do cleans, snatches, presses or squats. I don't get how a K-bell is supposed to be "better" than a barbell or dumbbell for many of those exercises.

Offset center of mass. No dropping like with a barbell. Designed to be held in the positions unlike a dumbbell. Solid metal, harder to hurt.

"We only get one body and we can't replace our joints." If only the Special Forces highers had considered that before they had us spend our youth running through the jungle with 125 pound rucks on our backs. But then maybe they expected we would die before that happened. Woops.

Israeli special forces are not “obese people” they are probably some of the most fit humans around. He’s talking about weight loss for obese people. Context matters. A fit person can run with a 20 or 30 pound sack on their back with less/minimal joint damage. Not the same for an obese person.

@@michelekamenar5026 Obviously you don't know who I am or what my background is. From a 70 yr old exSF I can tell you for an experiencial fact that all of the crazy shit we SF did as youngsters WILL manifest itself in old age. Of course playing football in HS and squatting heavy iron might have contributed. But I appreciate the criticism from someone who has never "been there, done that".

Mark. What about clubbells in an affordable variety? DIY? What about heavy bow archery draws on each side? What about deep stance move Tai Chi and Kung Fu? How about some parkour workouts?
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman 4 жыл бұрын
Onnit clubs are the cheaper but good clubs. you can go DIY, Ill make some vids when i can get into the shop. heavy bow draws i would not put in weight loss, i would put that in skill. you could put it in a weight loss program if you put it in between kb swings, or sandbag ground to shoulder.... deep stance work... not weight loss, but again that's strength development. forms for time could be used as weight loss. you would need to add a cardio kicker between forms of different duration everyday
@sambsialia
@sambsialia 4 жыл бұрын
Mark. I just saw Joe Gibbs, a monster strong archer, drawing resistance bands. That seems more applicable for strength than a bow to me.
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman 4 жыл бұрын
@@sambsialia i see what you are saying. so it would be gfp (general physical preparedness) Kettlebell, club, and cable machine, asp (activity specific preparedness) drawing resistance bands, ssp (sport specific preparedness) actual archery drills. then you could combine obstacles with archery for the final level of training. you could run them all concurrently. but that's not really a weight loss program.. now you are getting into nerdy archery specific training (a specific goal). it could have a weight loss component depending on how you set up the GFP cycles... i like it. ive set up a program like this for actors before.
