Thumbs up for actually putting it in the woods, instead of saying it's in the woods when it's sitting in the middle of a field.

A nice little well built cabin, for one or two people that's really all you need. I appreciated hearing the wind song also, instead of a bunch of triviality about the construction of it. Nature has it's own song, but too few of us take time to listen to the notes. Best regards - Jeff

Very nice. I have some videos of my process of building a cabin overlooking a lake. I didn't get the build started but I do have a spot cleared and excavated which I idid with my kubota tractor and backhoe attachment. Man I hope my cabin turns out as nice as yours. I am thinking of building with logs but seeing what you did maybe I will do a stick construction. Very nice job. I am sure you will have years of enjoyment there.

Wow love the cabin! Is the cabin just sitting on blocks or did you use sono tubes? I'm building a cabin soon and am interested it hearing which one you chose and why
@TheWildYam9 жыл бұрын
+Jon Snow It is sitting on blocks. It was a cheaper, less labour intensive build at the time. We do jack up the cabin on bottle jacks in the spring if the frost has heaved it. Usually not much adjustment is needed. Probably better to use the tubes.

Nice little Cabin. I don't see any heat source? Who helped you with the Constructing of it? Is that a lake on the other side of your car? You are lucky to live in Canada. I would like to hunt Moose there some day. Thanks for sharing.
@TheWildYam8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Elite Bowman. We heat with a kerosene heater for now when we visit in the Winter. My hubby and I built it along with some friends and family. It is on a river, not on a lake. There are quite a few moose here but the hunt has a few more restrictions lately due to a decline in population. Where are you located?
@elitebowman53868 жыл бұрын
I live in Salisbury, New York. We are starting to get some Moose in this State also. Not enough to see very often though. I saw one in my field like 20 years ago. There have been a few around the area, I just haven't seen them. Me and my brother and a friend own a 24x24 camp a mile off the road for hunting. We see a few deer in there a year. Certainly not overrun with them. Thanks for the reply and again, nice camp you have .

Things I would change is to make a poured base for it instead of the blocks and placing the windows a bit differently.

I love spending time at my camp also. Did you need a permit to build your cabin. I'm planning to build a cabin on my land also.
@TheWildYam7 жыл бұрын
Yes we needed a permit from our township.
@jefferyallan90157 жыл бұрын
Off Grid Get Away Camp check with your county seat and the building department. Tell them EXACTLY what you propose to do. Do not take advice from anyone else. Codes, permits, sizes of structures vary from township to township, even in the same county within a state! I own recreational vacant riverfront land in northern michigan and they are very specific as to what I can and can't do. Do yourself a favor; Visit your building department at your county seat. Just some friendly advice...

man your so lucky, that looks so peaceful. Id like to live in one of those but with water and electric+plumbing. That's a whole nother ball game though because the Floridian government pretty much makes it an impossible idea to bring into reality, well I suppose I could do it but I would never be able to have an address or as a legal residence.

Is there some reason you didn't make the cabin 12 feet wide. The increase in width would have used almost no more material. The parameter of your house is 10 +10 +24+24 that's 68. Making it 12 ft wide would have only increased the wall materials 4 feet and given you 48 more living space. Plywood comes in multiples of 4 ft so that uses the material very effective. The roof would have used almost exactly the same amount of materials. The place is very nicely done and very comfortable looking. Just wondering???
