My top 10 favorite dominion expansions

I might someday. I’m kind of waiting to see what the next dominion expansion is like, now that I’ve heard what it might be called. But since I haven’t heard anything more about it, I’ll keep what it might be called to myself. But if you liked this video I’d bet you would like my approach to my 2 videos. Is dark ages the best expansion ever? Is hinterlands the best expansion ever?

I'd have to go through this thought experiment carefully to decide how I'd rank the sets. I know that Cornucopia, Allies and Menagerie are in the top tier while the bottom tier would include Seaside and Plunder (you know what those two have in common?). We're all different, but we all love Dominion!

@@jacobjslee they both have a ocean theme. While we still haven’t had a northern theme, which is why I made my own fan based expansion. Which is called snowline, you can find it in my dominion playlist, boy do I gotta update my playlists.

Why don’t you like the themes of some of the cards?

Pretty much everything that has to do with witches, magic and demons bothers my conscience. So since dominion in general isn’t themed that way but has an occasional card is a witch or something I remove it from my game. And replace it with a different theme that doesn’t bother me. Because the function of the card isn’t bad, just the theme. Although I did replace the curse cards with wasteland cards for the minus points. So now even if I don’t replace a card that gives out curses, all my friends know it’s a wasteland. Also witches bother my friends consciences too. So they fully support my decision to replace stuff.

@@supersaiyankanye7550 we all have a conscience. For most people a conscience tells them that certain things are wrong. Like murder in IRL. If you also consider that wrong, then it bothers your conscience. For me lots of things bother my conscience. Like Halloween stuff, I consider it disgusting. It’s revolting 🤮, but yes it bothers my conscience too. So I prefer to replace those kinds of themes, with something that doesn’t bother me. Think of it like this. Let’s say you go to a friends houses for dinner, and they serve liver and Brussel sprouts something you absolutely hate to eat. You can choose to simply not eat it, or you can replace it something else. Like I’ll order a pizza my treat! That’s what I do with board games that have an element that I find distasteful.

Can I start at Dark Ages as my first expansion to play?

It’s one of the hardest to learn first, learning dark ages first is like learning to swim in pool with piranhas, you can do it, but I don’t recommend it. Either hinterlands, intrigue or seaside first. But do want you want.

Nice video, but you shouldnt assume that people watching this video have watched all you other videos. So leaving stuff out intentionally because youve covered it in some other video we dont know the name of really makes me not want to watch it anymore .

I’m sorry, it’s just that literally a few days earlier I had reviewed dominion plunder. Talking in that review in an extremely thorough way about what I like about it. Plus I was trying to keep the video as short as actually possible. Which was the reasons for keeping it short on plunder. Dominion plunder my review part 1 and part 2, they are right next to this video on my channel, which is why I didn’t reference them. Because I assumed everyone interested could easily find them. I might assume too much, but I’m only human.

@@Sturak well the main reason why most people rate prosperity so high, is because of platinum and colony. Which for me, I’m not a huge fan of. Also there are so many treasure cards in prosperity, I’m not big fan of big money games. Also I found a lot the Kingdom cards just simply okay. But there are almost 10 cards I absolutely hate from the expansion. The only redeeming card in the expansion was goons. It’s one of my most favorites. Which kept the expansion just a couple steps away from the bottom, then the second edition took out goons, and couple of other cards I liked were also replaced. And wouldn’t you know it, but my most hated dominion card in existence stayed (mint). And so that was the last straw, I just don’t see any way another expansion will ever be worse than this. Now plunder on the other hand while it has a lot of treasure cards, it also has a lot of interesting cards, both action and treasure. And obviously very few hated cards.

@@Animal_board_gamer I would have ranked Prosperity as my third favorite... But I really hate Mint also... I hate Hoard too... This is the only expansion I kept the 1st Edition cards... Fishing Village was once in Prosperity and that would make the Expansion perfect to me... Plunder is a nice expansion, but I think there are very strong cards like Tools, for example! It's the ultimate gainer I think!

@@Sturak fishing village was in prosperity? What do you mean? When it was first released fishing village wasn’t in prosperity. It’s always been in seaside, in fact seaside came out before prosperity. So fishing village was already in seaside. Besides it’s a duration card, prosperity has no duration cards.
