U forgot about runtime. My top edc light that i carry is the olight warrior mini 2. The reason is i am a property manager and i run a restaurant, sometimes I don’t use my light at all, other days i am running my light for hours. Sure i got work lights for projects and repairs. But my edc has to be able to run for hours and provide ample output . My top five lights that i would EDC: 1-olight warrior mini 2 (runtime) 2-surefire steleto (formfactor, output) 3-olight arkfeld UV (formfactor, runtime) 4-surefire e1b backup MV (small size, wide beam) 5-olight i5r (small size, decent runtime) 6-streamlight microstream (smallest form, but lowest output..) I got all my lights on sale or with a discount. 2

I love the Olight Perun Mini 2. The fact that I can clip it to my shirt collar or pocket and have hands-free illumination is fantastic. (I don't wear hats very often so having the emitter canted perpendicular to the chassis is a great feature.)

I got the Wuben X-0 which is very similar both in functionality, operation, size, and price, but the Wuben X-0 also has custom output on the High (150-300 lumen) Mid (50-150 lumen) Low (15-50 lumen) and moonlight (1-15 lumen) settings, and the new "high CRI" version has a Nichia 519a emitter, which gives a rather warm color temp. It can NOT be used as a headlamp though, but headlamps (and hats) can give "compression headaches", which is why i prefer 90 degree flashlights for when im using hiking poles.

My favorite is the Olight SR1 Baton. I wish it had a regular usb-c charge option but I've learned to keep the magnetic base with me. Also love the thrunite T1. Thank you for the great video

My issue with that one is the pocket clip. For me it often snags and the cheaper metal bends and then it won't clip on well to thin pants. Additionally the clip being about as long as the light itself gives less leverage to create a keel effect to keep the light from moving up. I just lost mine after I carried it for years and I got the Microstream based on the geometry. The pocket clip is a lot tougher too

Honestly glad Streamlight put out the Wedge. Definitely caused more companies to make flat lights. Just so much more comfortable.

I can understand the issue with port in the Streamlight Wedge, but it’s water resistant even without a flappy on it, just like your phone. If it gets dirty with lint, use a tooth pick, and a compressed air can and clean it out. Good video though!

Hey, Jeff. Have you looked into trying a Nitecore EDC27? I'm really interested in what you'd think about that in comparison to the Streamlight since you like the flat form factor. Seems like a decent value. Maybe those two and the Arkfeld would make a good flat light video.

The flashlights that made me sufficiently satisfied that im not really looking for better flashlights, are the: * AA/14500 Pineapple (with 219b emitter) * AAA/10440 Pineapple Mini (with 519a emitter) * Wuben X-0 ("handsfree" 90 degree flashlight designed for hikers) * Mecarmy X1S (keychain flashlight with TIR optics) I also got the Nitecore MT1A, which has a nice throw, and gives 60 hour runtime on low, which is PLENTY bright enough for night hikes IMO. This is the official "backup flashlight" for NATO, and it used to be my favorite AA flashlight until i got the Pineapple. I also got the 1800 lumen Nitecore MH12S, and although it is kinda cool with such a bright light, i dont actually need it, and i hate fumbling for the side button in the dark. 21700 battery flashlights are also WAY too big IMO, considering even the tiny 10180 battery in the X1S keychain flashlight has me covered for most times when i need a flashlight, and AA is plenty for camping.

Hey Jeff, I scored a Thrunite T1S throw model on prime day as an olight baton competitor for 25 bucks and I love it so far. I hadn’t heard of the model before but it seemed to have the necessary features, most notably the magnetic butt cap and S clip to stick under the hood or on your hat. Would love to see your thoughts on the model and maybe an olight comparison

I love my T1S. I actually use my Baton 3 more, but if I was only choosing one (or if someone asked my opinion) I’d say the T1S every time. The reason I use the Baton 3 more is actually the reason I don’t like it as much - the proprietary charging cable. I keep it by the bed and it is so easy to just set it on the magnetic charger. For practical purposes though, I think the type C charging is much better. The T1S is what I take with me when I go out of town (along with a Rovyvon E8, Olight I3R, Thrunite Archer Mini, and Streamlight Microstream - all packed away in different packs or pouches - I guess I have plenty of redundancy). My wife tells me I can’t buy more flashlights lol

My most carried light is an Olight M2R Warrior Pro. I know a lot of people lose their mimds when they see olight products but i've carried this light for years without issue. I work construction plumbing high rises so i prefer a high output light because i dont always have power or lighting in the areas i'm working in

@@folksurvival i think people hate on them a lot because of how aggressively they push their product, they send out a lot of free stuff to reviewers so people associate that with a product that cabt stand on it's own. Plus a lot of people shit on it because it's chinese made (like they dont have a house full of chinese built crap). They also like to bring up the mechanic that had one explode in his mouth while completely ignoring the fact that he stuffed an incompatable 3rd party battery into it

Honestly my most used light is the lumentop tool AAA that's on my keys. I've got at least 15 or 20 lights but that is just handy. I've got a wurkkos Ts11 on the way that looks interesting and is great value. Also Jeff if you like that form factor of the wedge maybe try the Olight arkfeld.

The Tool AAA is just phenomenal. It only got better after they added mode memory and the pebbled optic. That said, I liked the Tool AA (v2.0) even more. It's just perfect convenience for EDC.

@@DinnerForkTongue the AA version is fantastic. I tend to carry things smaller or larger than it though. Either a AAA light or 21700 light. Or both. But AAA light on the keychain just seems to get used more then anything else.

I went back and forth between the Thrunite Saber and the new Olight I3T 2 but ultimately went with the Saber. More lumens, longer throw and slightly cheaper. I also like the fact that the Saber comes with a rechargeable USB-C battery instead of a standard Alkaline battery like the Olight. This video just reaffirms my decision.

Idk If you have checked out the imalent ld70 edc But right now that is my go to. It is really cool super powerful little flashlight that fits in the pocket. The only thing that I wish is that it had a clip. But it's honestly small enough to just go in my pocket so That's just being knit picky. And my other favorite is the 4sevens preon p2, 4sevens mini MKiii and streamlight stylus

Yeah, Streamlight isn't like Surefire in the fact that they're an all American company with all American flashlights. Most of them are made in China now, but from what I've heard/read, there are different versions of the Wedge, some are made in China, some in the US, not sure which yours is. My current favorite EDC flashlight is the Vosteed/Reylight Rook. It's an 18350 light with a triple Nichia 519A. Over the years I've began to prioritize light quality (tint and CRI) over light quantity and this light puts out a very beautiful beam. It's also no slouch in the output department with a max output of 1800 lumens. You can also program it's UI for mode memory on or off, moon mode on or off, different mode groups and whether the light goes low up to high or high down to low.

A couple of my favorites are the good ole streamlight protac 1L-1AA. This light hasn't met a battery it doesn't like. 350 lumens and 6400 candela is nifty tweener of an edc and tactical lights. Then there's the weltool t1 pro 540 lumens and 21,000 candela out of a 14500 is ridiculous. These are 2 of my nominations.

At work its a pollystinger, edc is protac 1L-1AA dual fuel with lithium AA. Bright and long lasting. The 123 heats it up quick but is very bright. Just picked up the streamlight with the carabiner type clip, rechargeable non replaceable battery. 25 bucks 325 lumins. Its nice, would prefer replaceable batteries.

@@cutleryloverI have an archer 2a. Mode button stopped working and stuck in low mode. I have a TT20 which stopped working and won't turn on. This is the 2nd one. The first stopped working inside 2 months and they replaced it. And I have an S20R that won't turn on. I must have bad luck. They were not abused and I barely got a year out of any of them.

@@cutlerylover Well it's two months later. I picked up the archer pro v2. Loved it for 2 months. Now it doesn't work anymore. It's acting like it's stuck in lockout mode and won't come out. This is a common failure I've experienced, among others. So I'll reiterate. I'll add this one to the pile of thrunights, olights and the rest that have failed in short order. The good news is this one was only $26. The rest were in the $50 range.

I carry the Streamlight microstream USB at work, but my absolute favorite EDC light to date has been the mass drop/ lumintop brass AAA light. It must be simple, reliable, small, and it can't be overly tactical or look like a lightsaber handle. It cannot have strobe or SOS, cannot have too many modes or a complicated UI. Preferably just low medium and high, or a low and high with an accessible moonlight mode if it's a tiny light I can wear around my neck because that moonlight mode comes in handy getting up in the middle of the night. I've had to many lights eventually start flickering on me down the road, so I'm no longer chaste brightest light for the lowest price. I'll settle for enough light when I'm getting reliability and quality for the money.
