As another Kansas gardener I agree @c8hoops. I’ve been looking for a broccoli to grow in spring. Want to try De Cicco too

Hi Bre, I am starting growing mini romaine, onions and broccoli from seed now in South Florida. I also will be planting the Charantais cantalope, beans, cucumbers and more tomatoes and peppers.

I’m in total agreement with the San Marzano and Amish paste! I’ve already got some Supremo Roma seeds to plant - thanks to seeing your great success. I just ordered some items that are only available to purchase in plant form. I’m a big fan of a black tea called Assam. I found that it is from the leaves of the Camillia sinensis. (Which is also where you get green, oolong and white tea, also) I also ordered chocolate mint, pineapple sage, lemon thyme and laurel.

I am in zone 7b and I’ve grown Amish paste and red rocket and felt the same I did not like them. I will plant the Hal’s jumbo cantaloupe this year because of your success. I have never grown melons successfully where I am.

Hi I’m new to your channel and I am enjoying the good information that you are sharing. I also have had problems growing squash. I tried all kind of seed companies and a few that you have mentioned as well, but no luck. Until I tried Hoss Tools, their squash varieties have done good for me. Good luck and can’t wait for more videos.

I'm actually very pumped to try that Hungarian pepper for paprika. My aunt brought me back some good paprika from Budapest and life will never be the same, it had so much flavor and complexity too it that I put it on just about everything I could find.

My heart is always filled when someone enjoys a hungarian paprika powder. I am Hungarian, and the paprika you recieved is most likely not even at its full potencial. So be prepared for an even more outbursting taste ❤ Wishing you all the best! Happy gardening. ❤

You should look into rampicante squash. Essentially dual purpose to replace zucchini and butternut. I haven't had issues with vine bore ever but this variety is supposed to be resistant

I had the same issue with mold when I cured my onions this year. I grow yellow sweet Spanish and I'm located in Iowa. It's almost enough to not want to grow them again this year. I haven't decided yet. I'm surprised you had those issues with Amish paste, I had such a great harvest this year. Same with San Marzano. If you like cayenne, give Chile de Árbol a try. They dry so well and taste SO good with a nice heat. I put them on everything. Poblanos never seem to set fruit until late in the season so I don't try them anymore. I have been doing a ton of seed shopping already and I'm really excited for seed starting. I do almost all my flowers with the Winter Sowing method because I need to use my indoor space for food. You should give that a try! Minimal work for maximum benefits.

I grew cantaloupe last few years but I felt the flavor was so mild and bland I would like to try this Hal’s variety because I do love. My staples are chamomile, cucumbers, tomato’s, and peppers, and dill. I love plants a variety of flowers. Watermelon I also liked growing but like you said it’s a hard one to grow it got disease and I was disappointed about the fruit- I did orange/ yellow watermelon this year and it tasted the exact same as a normal watermelon. I crave completely given up on yellow squash and zucchini even tho I love to grill them in summer the vine bore gets it EVERYTIME even with all the measures I’ve taken. I’m really missing summer and heat- I’m in Minnesota. Planning the garden is keeping me going. I’ve been rewatching your garden tours ❤

I grew Nova tomato this year. Amazing. Survived a super late frost...lost leaves, but came back and produced a ton of fruit anyway. Short and stocky. I question if I even needed to cage them.

It is funny although we are almost in the same zone(7). I had humongous success with San Marzano and also made that green tomato pie because I had such an abundance. They grew through Veterans Day and I had to pick them all because we just had a frost. Of those that were green 90% of them turned red when I put them in a bin to ripen. Very successful. Also, my Amish paste were very successful and large plump tomatoes. So I think it's your Zone that doesn't like the tomatoes. I'm in the Western New York on Lake Erie and the they have been great tomatoes for me. They were so prolific this year last year was a tough year because the Canadian Wildfire smoke affected my entire Garden. This year more than made up for it❤

Thank you for your suggestion on where to source Hungarian pepper seeds! I really want to try them next year, and you have inspired me to make my own paprika powder! I will also be trying to grow luffa this year! When I visited my parents over Thanksgiving, they mentioned a local luffa farm nearby and I was able to purchase some seed from them! Happy to find a variety that has been bred to grow in California. Cheers!

I grow San Marzano in my zone 6a Northern NJ and they do pretty good, but this year I purchased the Federle from MI gardener, and I am now in love. So many fruit and they have a cute little point at the bottom and were very prolific. I will still probably grow the San Marzano, but more Federle for sure.

Thanks for the idea!! I will say I was the same way, and its 10x's easier than I thought it was going to be. Ive had mine for 1.5 years and never had a issue yet & changing the soil is super easy! I did have to run its own electrical outlet to the breaker so that was a extra expense I didn't realize in the beginning.

Put soil in a cheap casserole pan at 4" or less deep, heat at 350 for 20-25 min. (I use the foil ones from Walmart). Let cool, then use. I ran across this on KZbin and have done this for 2yrs, no gnats!!
