I love your lists haha! They're the best ones to me. I am so glad you showed me the Saidan, Hamferd, Perishing, Laceration (I'm a big Skeletal Remains fan), and Tomorrow's Rain. I totally agree about Avernus, Counting Hours, Jade/Sancramentum, and Funeral too! Here's a few I might add to that list: None, the new re-release of Frowning's Funeral Impression (which just came out) features amazing new tracks and the rerecordings of the old ones are great too, Pallbearer (I did not like their last few records but this new one comes back to some of the emotive, melodic doom that made me love them back in 2012), Spectral Voice, and Spectral Wound. Thanks for sharing as always!

Excellent list, Liam! Never apologise for what you include in your list. Some of my favourites have only been released in recent months - some quality albums can resonate with you immediately, others take time, but it’s all swings and roundabouts if ultimately they’re great and, importantly, YOU like them. I thought Ardua Music put out some superb doom and melodic death doom this year. And look after yourself dude. What I’ve come to accept as I get ever closer to 50 is that occasionally feeling down/low mood for no apparent reason is normal (we can’t be happy bastards all the time!). Keeping busy helps. Plus, it makes me appreciate family time and music more and more

Ardua put out loads of great albums, still a few I need to grab from 2024. Cool list! Yeah, they have their own language on the Faroe Islands and it looks like Hamferð's lyrics are in that language. It's related to Islandinc, Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish, all of them being North Germanic languages (English, German, and Dutch are West Germanic languages, so they're also related to Faroese). Sounds like Tomorrow's Rain is something for me to check out. Crypt Sermon too. Happy New Year!

Great list! A lot of stuff I have not heard, but Tzompantli (?) is great, the guitar tone is so crisp and heavy and the drum sound is stellar also, my #2 from this year! Heard a new band for me yesterday, Capilla Ardiente, that you might already be familiar with, if not, check out "Where Gods Live and Men Die" because I think that's right up your alley and I really liked it even though epic doom or whatever it is, is not my cup of tea. Tzompantli is a juggernaut of an album. Brian has that guitar tone dialled down! I've heard of Capilla Ardiente, been streaming the latest one. Void Witch is top 3 death doom of the year for me, along with Marche Funèbre and Mother of Graves. Not sure why it hasn't been on more people's lists. Did you listen to Ataraxie' album this year? Haven't heard much awesome funeral doom this year, but this was easily the best for me.

I know of Ataraxie from an older album but have yet to hear the new one. Funeral doom wise I discovered Fohn 'Condescending' which was a really good album. Reminded me a lot of Esoteric.

This time death doom dominated your list from top to bottom. Death doom was the genre I listened the most myself in 2024 but from the 6 albums that stood out to me the most this year only one is death doom: 1. Tribulation - Sub Rosa In Æternum 2. The Funeral Procession - In Still Silence 3. Vemod - The Deepening 4. Borkgnagar - Fall 5. Djevel - Natt Til Ende 6. Religious Observance - 7 Years Of Neglect

It was on the list but after a while I felt the album got samey in certain songs. Frozen Moors as a stand a lone track is easily in my songs of the year but the actual album fell flat in some parts for me over time. Cheers for watching! 🤘🍻🤘

Never understood the logic behind people not putting later releases on their year-end lists. If you've fallen in love with an album after 2 or 3 albums, then why not put it on?

I agree, it depends on how you rank your albums. I do mine by how many times i've listened to them and I find if I love the band already they're going to go up in numbers of spins/streams. Although the new MDB fell flat for me and i'm a big fan of them. I enjoyed it but it wasn't anything that made me think it's worthy of showing off at the end of the year.

@TheDeathDoomMetalHead if I ranked them like that, I feel it would be unfair. A lot of my favourite albums can be long or the kind you have to sit down with some cans and immerse yourself in it from start to finish. I don't always have time to do that because I listen to a lot of music driving or at work. So most of the time, my most listened are 30-40 min albums. For example, Akhlys, Cistvaen, Aara are a few of my favourites of the year but I've listened to them no more than 5 times. Whereas other favourites like Undeath, Spectral Wound, Necrot I've listened to over 10 times. But I certainly don't necessarily like them more. That's just me though.
