I'm somewhat new to prog (only really started getting into it about a year ago) so there are plenty of bands and albums I haven't checked out yet. Still need to check out more of the big bands like Opeth, Queensryche, Tool, Rush, and Dream Theater, as I've only heard one or two albums each (aside from Rush, I've heard six albums). That said, here are some of my favorites so far: Devin Townsend's entire discography - my favorites are Empath, Sky Blue, Transcendence, Epicloud, and Deconstruction Dream Theater - Images and Words All three Ne Obliviscaris albums - my favorite is Citadel Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime, Promised Land Meshuggah - Nothing, Obzen, Koloss All four Animals as Leaders albums - favorite is The Joy of Motion Rush - A Farewell to Kings, 2112, Hemispheres A few that aren't technically prog, but they're proggy enough for me to include: Insomnium - Winter's Gate Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Brave New World, The Book of Souls August Burns Red - Phantom Anthem There may be others I'm forgetting, but that's the bulk of them.

Yeah, REM for Riverside definitely feels like an unpopular pick. Most commonly, you'd see Second Life Syndrome or Anno Domini High Definition recommended in my experience. I'd also agree with those, as REM never did grab me that much for whatever reason. Love Duda's voice and bass work all around, though. And Piotr's tasteful guitar is great and sorely missed. Those last 3 minutes of the title track from SLS are pure bliss. Did a quick skim through the Iapetus and Wilderun albums mentioned, and they sound up my alley. Will be giving those some of my time very soon, so thanks for bringing them to my attention.
