I was surprised by your pick for top spot, it's not often Chelsea Wolfe gets a mention, which is such a shame, she is definitely an artist that deserves more recognition, after the release of Dusk, Whispers In The Echo Chamber, and Tunnel Lights, I am very excited to hear the remainder of the songs on her upcoming album

A well deserved number one artist, that's for sure. Her music is right up my alley in terms of its tone, really haunted and dark but there's something sort of etherial and otherworldly about it too. I agree that all three singles for her upcoming album are fantastic, Dusk happens to be my favorite but the other two are extremely solid tracks as well. Definitely looking forward to the full album when that drops next year!

You mean my favorite songs from the albums that I've done reactions for this year? That would be such a difficult list to put together! There's been so much good music that I've discovered in 2023. Probably some of the standout albums that I've heard this year though would be Alice In Chains (self-titled), Thirteenth Step by A Perfect Circle, Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins, Master Of Puppets by Metallica, Short Bus by Filter, and Ten by Pearl Jam.

I'm a huge SoaD fan so I loved all five of your SoaD album reactions. I've never followed the Deftones so I've been enjoying those album reactions. I've also dipped my toes into your Korn, Slipknot and Smashing Pumpkins reactions - loving them, too! Looking forward to viewing all of them, and more. I'm ancient so a lot of the albums I might suggest are equally ancient. Like Judas Priest's, British Steel (which I think laid down the groundwork for future metal albums ala Metallica). I've also dabbled into Japanese metal/progressive hard rock over the past few years and have found a few surprises (BandMaid being my fave). So if there's an album I'd like you to review it most probably would be British Steel first (although still a banger imho, it is seriously old). Oh, and Led Zeppelin! All of their albums! Yes, you're right, the CP song is from '22 but I felt like it was from '23😅. It's like a hybrid of Kate Bush, Lady Gaga and a long etc of influences... For me one of my favorite pop songs(and the album) so far from this decade. 🖐👋🖐

Chelsea Wolfe is certainly a favorite of mine, I'm eagerly anticipating her new album coming out next year! And Tinashe is great too, I love how she blends very danceable pop music with a lot of experimentation as well. Cold Sweat from her album Aquarius is one of my favorites.

Thanks for watching, yeah it's always fun to see how my tastes change from year to year. I clearly loved the dark/industrial/atmospheric this year, haha. I'll be honest I didn't listen to much new music this year, I mostly stuck to older releases and stuff I discovered through doing the reaction videos. What I did manage to listen to before making this list though was pretty solid, I feel like 2023 definitely came through with some pretty great songs. Like you said, a lot of hidden gems.

I still need to listen to the Health record. I was sent a copy of it. Came out so late in the year, I ignored it, and surprised to see it on so many best of lists. Kvelertak - 'Krøterveg Te Helvete' is probably my favorite single of the year. Linda Linda's - 'Too Many Things' would probably be the surprise song I liked. Descartes A Kant - 'After Destruction' was the surprise single since it was a band that has been around for 20 years or so. Escuela Grind - 'Meat Magnet' featuring Barney from Napalm Death is probably my fave late year single to be featured on an early 2024 ep.

Nothing But Thieves are great! I enjoy a lot of their music, their earlier stuff I still need to dive into further but Dead Club City from this year and Moral Panic from 2020 were both really good albums.

I’m definitely surprised to see Talk To Me Nice by Tinashe. I’m here for your reviews of bands like Korn, Metallica, Alice In Chains etc. but I like other genres as well and I’m a really huge Tinashe fan. Talk To Me Nice is a cool song, but my favorite new song of hers is the song Needs that she put out after Talk To Me Nice.

Well usually I'm into metal and instrumental prog but this year I've been listening to alot of grunge there's a band called return to dust had a song called belly up that came out this year that reminds me of 90s grunge alice in chains and stone temple pilots or velvet revolver. I also listened to the paramore album alot This is why and running out of time is a cool track off that. One of my favourite bands wargasm released Venom the album which is pretty good... Bang ya head one of the singles features fred durst from limp bizkit

I'm not familiar with Return To Dust, I'll have to give them a listen. And the Paramore and Wargasm records were both great, I enjoyed them a lot! Big Man, Little Dignity was the standout for me on the Paramore album. And from the Wargasm album I especially loved the Bjork sample on the track Death Rattle.

Vildhjarta - + den spanska känslan + is definitely my top song of the year, roughly translates to "the spanish feeling" in Swedish. I slept on this band for over a decade and never gave them a shot, until that track. Now, they have been nearly all that I have listened to for 4+ months now. I've never done that with a band before, the closest I've been like that before was with Leprous and Ne Obliviscaris back in like 2017 or something and that was for maybe a month tops. It's pretty crazy. Solid picks on this list for sure too.

Spiritbox’s The Fear Of Fear EP is definitely one of my favorite releases of the year. Cellar Door is great. I also dig Jaded, Too Close Too Late, and Ultraviolet. Obliteration by Filter would maybe crack my top 20 songs of the year. I really like that song. Outside of Rock and Metal, Modern Jam by Travis Scott and Never Die by Nas would maybe crack my top 20 songs of the year.

Yeah, The Fear Of Fear is absolutely fantastic! Had it been a full length album instead of an EP it definitely would have been on my top 2023 albums list. The Filter record I didn't actually listen to, I've been thinking of doing some more Filter reactions on the channel so may save it for a video later on.
