My Top 5 Factions in Dune

With 12 factions now, which are my favorite to play?

In the Dune Facebook Group the community usually vote for Harko or Fremen to be the top 1-2, BG is often the third one.

haha. I love it how you totally give in to your dark side with your top 3. I would have to guess you are a real menace on the table. even though i now played every faction (except the new ones) i still really can't decide which are my favourite.

My top 5 are: 1. Ecaz 2. Tleilaxu 3. Emperor 4. Fremen 5. Richese Ecaz had a very suprising journey into my number one slot. While testing, i always thought it would be Moritani who would usurp Tleilaxu for the number one slot but since everyone would always jump to play Moritani, i would end up playing Ecaz since they were a bit more complicated. I love their versatility and how many dofferent turn 1 strategies their are depending on your mix of ambassadors.

I can’t decide 😳. Dune is my favourite game by far and I enjoy playing every faction, but those with more moving parts are definitely the most fun for me. Which is why I usually play with all expansions. Atreides and Harkonnen are my favourite to play (their lore certainly adds to the experience). Only recently tried Ixian and Tleilaxu of the expansion factions and loved them. Looking forward to trying the other new factions.

Our top 3 is the same but in different order. Looks like you are also a savage player like me =D 1. Harkonnen 2. Tleilax 3. Moritani 4. Choam 5. Emperor (I just LOVE Sardaukars, I wish I could support my ally with them like in the lore =/ )

My favorite is CHOAM because on the first turn of the game I played as them I audited the Fremen with 1 troop and when everyone realized what I did we couldn't stop laughing.

I am a huge fan of the Bene Gesserit faction (and I enjoy bullying people by amassing advisors in strongholds and then extorting players before the shipment phase :D), but I have to agree that playing the Tleilaxu is a ton of fun, although you have to take care to bleed every other faction, since you are still weak militarily and the Face Dancers aren't really a reliable mechanic. The Moritani are my second choice after BG now, though, just because I never play to win, but rather to make life on Arrakis difficult for everyone :)

Hi Jack! I was wondering if you’d consider a Smugglers faction for a future expansion? I was thinking it might be interesting to flesh out the smugglers Esmar and Tuek Staban, and the rest of the smugglers who took Gurney Halleck in. Just something I’ve been thinking about.

Tleilaxu isn't fun to play against. They don't build tension the way that Moritani does. They just randomly steal wins for no effort and the late game control of revivals doesn't provide much counter play. Moritani and Ecaz are complex and they are lots of fun to play against because they keep you guessing the whole time.

My top 5 are: 1. Richese 2. CHOAM 3. Moritani 4. Ecaz 5. Ixian In my opinion, Richese is the nicest team to play because you can easily get troops on the game with No-field tokens, you always get a little spice from your own cards and you can mix up the game a bit. With this team, there is never a dull moment in the game, you are always involved in something. They are definitely not the easiest faction and I have yet to win a game with them but I won't stop trying🛸

I just got the new Ecaz & Moritani expansion recently, can't wait to try them out and see if they break my top 5! My only complaint off the bat is that the Ecaz faction color purple is very similar visually to Tleilaxu purple; as much as I know you like purple, it would have perhaps been better to use a more distinct color like pink. My top 5 are: 1. Tleilaxu 2. Ixians 3. Atreides 4. Guild 5. CHOAM

I chose pink but it didn’t get manufactured that way. The token inserts help.

@@jackredathewarp Those are definitely very nice looking, I've been using colored 10mm wooden cubes from before I had the GF9 version and have stuck with it. Thankfully I got a nice magenta set for Ecaz, but thanks for the insight

I have the same number one faction I have not played your number four and five very much. And I haven't got a chance to play your number two. but I love your number one and three for sure. now I am definitely intrigued to play your number two four and five

1. Tleilaxu 2. Ixians 3. Bene Gesserit 4. Spacing Guild 5. Emperor Just played Tleilaxu last night, allied with Ecaz and got their special victory condition on turn 4. I had 3 of CHOAM's traitors in my hand and somehow they never lost a leader nor did they play the leaders I had as face dancers. 🥲
