I do love a skirt, it’s my favourite wardrobe staple. That was a nice variety you pulled out to show us.

Thank you, yes it is lovely wearing skirts, especially after winter when you can finally wear without tights!

Again, you've picked such pretty patterns and I LOVE that you have modeled the makes. Seeing it on you is so much more helpful to me when I'm trying to visualize the garment on a real body - not a picture. Have a lovely weekend.

Yes it is so helpful to see the garments worn by you, Lucy and I really can't wait to get sewing some skirts!...Grace

I feel exactly the same Grace, my sewing is on hold until the end of May sadly, I have so many other commitments at the moment, but I'm glad people are feeling inspired to sew - yay!

Seeing how you style these skirts is really helpful. I bought (had a pattern ready to cut then found one in RTW) a jeans style skirt last year and just never wore it, always felt too dressy or too casual (yeah, I know it sounds strange). Thanks!

Thank you I'm glad it helped, I wish I had more time to show you all the ideas including the dressed up ones.

Thank you. Well done video & gracious responses. A question: What do you wear under your skirts to keep them from clinging? I have a terrible problem with that. Thank you from Missouri 🇺🇸
@carolmichell4860 Жыл бұрын
Do try a slip / petticoat if you don’t want the hassle of making a lining. They’re easily made, as many retailers don’t sell them these days 😢
@KayL6303 Жыл бұрын
@@carolmichell4860 Thank you. I do wear a slip. But I still have a cling problem. What I would like to know is if there is a breathable fabric to make a slip that won't cling?

I had no idea British people called athletic shoes pumps. Here in Canada a pump is a dress shoe with a heel.
@SewEssential Жыл бұрын
Yes trainers or pumps we call them, probably trainers to be honest, but I thought I'd use pumps because more people would understand it and now I realise it was actually more confusing ha ha! Love the way we all have our own colloquial words for things, thanks for sharing.

These patterns are not very size inclusive. Although I like your choices of skirts and fabric. It would be nice if you found some patterns that were more inclusive. I don’t consider myself to be a curvy person and I wouldn’t be able to fit into some of those pattern measurements.

Hello, i saw you comments and i am also curvy and would consider myself plus curvy. I have found a great indie pattern cie call "cashmerette" and had very great pattern as well as you can get their pattern in a very large size. Im in live with their design and tops have different bra size up to h cup. Hope this help hou find a great place for beautiful patterns. 👍👍

Cindy, I totally agree with your comment

Agree, but also many times the big 4 finished measurements are more generous, so they fit several sizes beyond their size chart. Still not the greatest range though compared to many indie designers.

Thanks for the feedback, the Mave skirt does actually go up to a 14 - 30, you can see the larger size here www.sewessential.co.uk/true-bias-mave-skirt-sewing-pattern-size-14-30 on our website, sorry I must have forgotten to mention that. Also the video last week was a round up of some of the most inclusive sizing pattern brands (including Cashmerette mentioned below) in case you missed it, you can see it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmTbnYaKmaiqr9U The good news is that all of the pattern brands really seem to be stepping up their game with size ranges now, I know there is still a lot of work to do, but they are definitely going in the right direction so hopefully it won't be long until all patterns are available in an inclusive size range.
