It’s awesome too see how vast your collection has grown in time!! I remember when your collection was so small, (small to some) lol but it’s amazing all in its own

Your mentions of your Kaweco Sports seem to have dropped rather a lot as well, so i think it's an Hon Mensh in this list.

Lovely video! Just a quick note, the 3776 is called Chartres Blue, it's named after an iconic French cathedral that's famous for its blue stained glass windows. Chartreuse is also a classic French word that started as the name of a liquor made at a monastery and now also refers to the green-yellow color associated with that liquor.😊 I apologize if you already knew that and it's an inside joke or something.
@marilyngardner4269
@marilyngardner4269 Жыл бұрын
I'm guessing it was just a slip of the tongue. For example, Kerry also meant to mention the heart-shaped breather hole in the 3776, I think, but never actually said it.
@KatiesCraftStudio

@@marilyngardner4269 I agree, it's just a minor slip but she's done it in several recent videos which makes me think her brain went "I know this French word!" and unconsciously subbed in a different French word. Totally understandable 😊

I can see how someone who has never had French could get them confused. She has mispronounced it for years! I think it’s named after the blue stained glass in Chartres Cathedral. Two syllables but don’t pronounce the s.

I have the Platinum Celluloid in Sakura. It's lovely but it doesn't have the same cap to prevent it from drying out. This may not be a problem for you with your journaling habit; but you should be warned you may want to keep your Chatres Blue. The President can have the same problem with dry out, but the nib seems a bit smoother to me.

I understand the difficulty of determining “favorite.” Pilot 823 may be my best, smoothest writer, but I still prefer the Visconti HS Bronze Age (Palladium) overall, because of how special it feels, and it’s close to the same smoothness.

It's true, I'm NOT a fan of "pretty" pens...yeah, I'm a weirdo...and I REALLY don't like the gold color, so the Pilot 912 is my jam. One thing I WILL say, is I ENJOY watching people talk about things they are EXCITED about! You're enthusiasm shines through. 🤓 Ohhhh....and I am VERY interested in the Pelikan 805!!!

I remember when I first started buying and using fountain pens. I bought the discrete ones, like Lamy 2000 and CP1, so my pens would blend in and not make a scene at work... a few years later, I've deemed the "work pen" concept as unnecessary and ridiculous. Now i take my most flashy and crazy pens to work, and show them off without shame, crazy ink included. I also have a bedazzled stapler that I've used for 10 years. It's crazy that no one has accidently walked off with it yet. Hmm..

I too have the m805 Stresemann. Came with a broad nib that really rendered it, in my hand, only useful for signatures on treaties or corporate mergers . . . which I don't do. I replaced it with a fine nib (two=tone for my personal touch!), which writes like a lovely medium. I rotate my gold nib pens through the year, so it gets written with some. To be honest, my favorite writer would have to be maybe the Hongdian Mt Qomolangma 14k. Tooth and bounce! Loved the premise of this video, and think you handled it well. Thanks!

The M805 is definitely on my wishlist, as is the 823’s cartridge-filling cousin, the 743. Any of your top 5 would be good for work. They all have personality, but aren’t too flashy for an office.

I envy your Lamy 2000 trio 🤩, I'm surprised you wouldn't keep the brown one though. Having watched your videos for a few years now these five pens are like old friends or perhaps more like returning favourite characters. It's interesting to hear how your pens fit into your life beyond the new and shiny stuff for review. Great video.

What a list. I can’t speak to the Aurora, but all the others are excellent. The L2K, the 3776, the 823, m800 are so perfect that what can you really say about them, other than that if you want to get deep into the hobby you have to own all these pens.

I don't think I can pick 5 I like that I really don't mention. Even after 40 years, I'm still enthusiastic about them all. Maybe a Sheaffer's Balance Junior? Just because I haven't used it for a while? Or one of my ringtops? Haven't needed a pocket pen recently. Other than that... Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks Kerry, loved this! I think it's really hard to find new topics for video's all the time. Like, you can't go buy 2 new pens every week 😂 So i appreciate all the effort you put into it 🙏 Also, I have a question, maybe you can give advice :) (if you want to, otherwise, just ignore it, I won't be upset or so). I am interested in getting a pen with a quite bouncy nib, very smooth, more or less a wet writer (a bit like my benu euphoria) and a bit on the heavier side (that is: a bit heavier than the benu I just mentioned). I am not tied to a specific brand. Just am in love with a bit of bounce, haha.

I got rid of my 805 and somewhat regret doing so. I was considering getting another but am probably going to go with an M1000 instead in hope that the nib feels a little bit like the nib on my Custom Urushi which is by far the best feeling nib I’ve used. I hope she does a video of an M1000 too.

@@adamzappia2213 Yeah, I loved my M800 (green)! I miss it. But the M1005 does have a better nib (if you like some bounce). It’s probably in the top 3 best writers I have alongside the Visconti HS Bronze (Palladium) and Pilot Custom 823.

I'm a big Benu fan so I never tire of hearing about them. I find pens like the Lamy plain and boring after being spoiled by all that delightful Benu bling. But I can certainly understand their appeal for a work environment. The Lamy looks so plain and cheap on the outside that I would be afraid of someone mistaking it for a cheapie felt-tip pen that you can buy in any drug store and walking off with it.

See, I'm with you there. Not that there's anything wrong with the Lamy but it doesn't stand out and people will walk off with pens, even fountain pens. IME, they're much less likely to do so when they can tell right away that they SHOULD NOT. Pens are practically community property in offices so my route is either have a cup full of sharks where that is perfectly fine, or the vintage Aurora where people JUST KNOW that they shouldn't breathe wrong near it. And they didn't.
