After owning OwhHammer, ML Soundlab, and Bogren Digital packs, i just finally got around to checking the Excalibur and Brohymn IR's out. I'm still picking my jaw up off of the floor. I prefer a scooped, massive, chuggy af tone with an aggressive upper mid range. Got there with a blend of two Brohymn Ir's and barely any EQ'ing at all. Been chasing this tone for countless months! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Ryan, so let's say you were making a death metal track, and had to pick one impulse for your guitars, which would be your "go to" for something like Behemoth style guitars?
@PlagueScytheStudios5 жыл бұрын
For that class of metal, it would definitely be something with V30s. An Uberkab, oversized Rectifier, or a Friedman would be my top picks. I believe Ownhammer has all of those if you're looking to buy, and theres Bogner and Mesa cabs in the free collections shown here.

@PogromcaMleka5 жыл бұрын
Hey! Can I load impulse response at the very end of the signal chain? After all effects and amplification? Where in your signal chain IR's lay?
@PlagueScytheStudios5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the rest of your signal chain. The easiest way in direct plugins or amp modelers is right after the amp block. Any effects stacked afterwards will sound "in the loop". However, there are some cases where you may want the cab at the very end like in an AXE FX or Helix to split your signal chain. If you're using stereo effects, just be sure to use a stereo IR loader that can pan 100% in both directions.
@PogromcaMleka5 жыл бұрын
@@PlagueScytheStudios Thank you for your answer! My signal goes like that: clean guitar signal -> DAW -> then I add HARDCORE plugin from FL studio, it's amp simulator with effects -> then I can add convolution with IR's to that already boosted signal with effects. I don't really know how could I apply IR's before effects like chorus, reverb, flanger. because they are all within the amp plugin.
@theexpressionbooth5 жыл бұрын
Well technically a real guitar amp is the last thing in the chain. Delays and reverbs may go in the loop but they still all end up coming out of the cab so it should sound natural. I do that when im giging so i can use a on stage cab with my ax8.
@darwinsaye4 жыл бұрын
Is there a such thing as IRs taken with room mics to capture the sound of a certain cabinet within a certain type of space? I find that the difference in the sound of a close miked single speaker in a 4/10 cabinet compared to the sound of a close miked single speaker alone in a small cab is not that great when you take how they sound in the room out of the equation. This is how demos tend to make cheap little practice amps sound so much better on youtube than they actually do in person.
@iBrows14 жыл бұрын
There are several companies that make IRs with room mics. Celestion does and I think Ownhammer too. When you blend a room mic IR with the close mic IR you can tweak the sound and make it sound fuller.

Love your vids my dude. Had some questions if your up for a lecture lol I am mixing an experimental tech metal album at the moment. Been recording for like 3 years now in Mexico. I have an Ax8 pedal and a Mesa Triple Rectifier with an 8 string tuned to Drop E. Cant seem to add certain effects to certain presets on the Ax8 though. I really want to four cable method the amp and processor together but I cant seem to figure out how to use the amps distortion with the effects from the pedal without bypassing one or the other. Got any advice on either of those issues? I admit I have very little understanding of the Ax8 system so I've just been editing the existing presets to fit my needs. Not trying to create a library, just trying to keep up with all the experts and get the most functionality out of it. Why is there so much fizz in Impulse Responses?
@AmplifyChris5 жыл бұрын
Because an IR gives you the sound of a miced speaker. What you here when you play your real amp, is roomsound. So put your ear to the cabinet and you can hear that there is a lot of "fizz" too.
@danielclark6125 жыл бұрын
@@AmplifyChris that makes sense. IMO they could remove the fizz and have a much improved sound.
