How would a red clawed crab do in a 55 gallon with guppies and plecos?
@Mostlyharmless19857 жыл бұрын
Perkaholic GobbleGum red claws crabs are semi aquatic brackish. They do best in species only pauladriums as they are opportunistic feeders, they will snatch a fish if they get a chance to. You might be able to keep them with guppies if you can give the crabs some dry land and mud to stcratch at. Guppies are quite tolerant of salt in the water.

Mostlyharmless1985 I thought red claw crabs were freshwater. Guess not, I don't really know much about crabs. I mostly just keep fish and shrimp.
@Mostlyharmless19857 жыл бұрын
Crimson's Fang they can be kept fresh for a little while, but in my admittedly little experience with crabs, they enjoy having a small amount of marine salt in their tank. They are “season to taste” so to speak.

My top 10- (some aren't in the hobby period). Reedfish Amu Darya Sturgeon Syr Darya Sturgeon Freshwater Frogfish Boulengeromyrus knoepffleri (species of Elephant-nose) Chinese Paddlefish Goliath Tigerfish Orthosternarchus tamandua (knifefish) Chaca bankanensis (catfish) Rainbow Wolf Fish Probably the least known of these fish are the 2 sturgeons, they are also critically endangered and have never even been a thought in the aquarium hobby. A few of these fish I just found out about by searching up "bizarre freshwater fish." Lastly, the Reedfish is the only one I've owned. Actually, I have an amazing idea that's been done on bichirs but not Reedfish. Because they are more reliant on their lung than gills, Reedfish & Bichirs can live their entire life out of water, just as long as they constantly moist that is. Hopefully soon I'll be able to do this, maybe I'll have a group of at least 4. Think about it, no water changes, no filter, no heater, no airstone: Just thick moss substrate, a terrarium instead of aquarium, and a misting system! One last thing I have to mention, is that Reedfish are absolutely ADORABLE!!

When you say that you’ve kept hillstream loaches in “tropical” temperatures, what does mean in terms a concrete range of temperatures? In addition to the angelfish, I thought I saw some Rams in the tank with the loaches. Per many sources (including Dean, who is amazing, btw!), Rams like water that is quite warm (low to mid 80s). I guess this is a testament to how adaptable fish can be.

I absolutely LOVVE hillstream loaches, but I have a ram tank. You said you keep them tropical- but what about 80-82 degrees tropical?
@dgodfrey91897 жыл бұрын
No, that's definitely too warm for them. I wouldn't keep them tropical at all, and if it does get warm you need lots of aeration to keep the oxygen levels up high for them. I think that would be too warm even for Stiphodon gobies (and again they'll need the high levels of oxygen).
@Unlucky4037 жыл бұрын
dgodfrey9189 I decided against it. Too warm for them. Since my tank has very high flow and oxygen I went with panda garra. They are the best algae eaters I have ever seen or heard of in my life- thriving well in my tank atm
@dgodfrey91897 жыл бұрын
Depending on the size of the tank there might be a Rio Xingu plec that also likes warm water and algae (not Zebras, they're carnivorous), but again they like their high flow.
@Unlucky4037 жыл бұрын
dgodfrey9189 I only keep a couple small tanks, so pleco's are unfortunately not in my options. I love them though! If you've never had experience with panda garra before I'd check them out - they ate all my BBA

Hi i know my question is not related to this video, but i ordered a drop checker for my planted tank. Whats in the co2 checker solution? Is it already premixed or do i have to order dk4h solution that comes with a solution that turns it blue? Im new to this and im so confused with all the different info out there on youtube.
@AquariumCoop7 жыл бұрын
+Kathleen Monsegue I don’t use drop checkers. They typically lead people down a path of co2 that makes no sense for their aquarium.
@kathleenmonsegue97007 жыл бұрын
Aquarium Co-Op really? How come some people use it? I thought it was accurate in letting you know if your tank has too low or too much co2 in there.
@AquariumCoop7 жыл бұрын
Well most people can't answer how much co2 they need in your aquarium? If they're chasing 28ppm - 29ppm, chances are missing the point of a balance of co2 and other nutrients combined with light. Most people simply want, I want it to be max.
