I'm excited to see more of this build, Josh! I'm a big fan of Nuun Rest as my nightime recovery drink. I think it's made with tart cherry, magnesium and hugs.

That sounds really good! I may have to look at that to add to my essentials. And thank you!

Interesting video. I am a fan of Tailwind as far as premium hydration goes and I like the Gu gels. I tried Creatine a long time ago and it was great for weight lifting but not running. For me, it added water weight and gave me the worst shin splints. A book or two I'd recommend is the Competitive Runner's Handbook and the Daniels running formula. I enjoy your content and am looking forward to some more race recaps.

I will have to check out tailwind! GU always makes me sick unfortunately. And luckily I’ve never held water with creating, but know some people can feel bloated when taking it. And thank you for the book recommendations. I will have to check those out.

@@joshuaxruns one other supplement I'd recommend, especially if you do plant based, is an iron supplement. That is so critical to running. I don't take it every day (too much is not good). To be honest, I take a women's multivitamin with minerals as it contains a better mix of minerals runners need. I don't take it every day but a few times a week to cover my mineral needs.

If you do the audiobook of advanced marathoning you can knock out two birds with one stone and fall asleep real quick. 😂 waiting for that 6th essential alphafly but that might be a whole nother video
@joshuaxruns2 ай бұрын
The Alphafly is the only essential. Also, the audiobook will be replacing sleepytime and melatonin from here on out 😂

In your experience how different were your heart rate readings between the Coros Pace 3 and the Coros armband? I've got the Pace 3 and I've been spending too much on my running lately so I'm hesitant to get the armband but I want my runs to be efficient and I'm worried how much I might be missing by relying on the watch alone. That said, the watch has seemed consistent for me but I can't be sure how accurate it is.
@joshuaxrunsАй бұрын
I find that the HR monitor provides a more accurate reading across the entire run. One thing you could do to get a better reading from the pace 3 is use the nylon band.
@synyzal772Ай бұрын
@@joshuaxruns I was able to get a nylon band included with my watch and changed it right away, maybe that's why it's been no issues for me. I'm still curious to see if a dedicated monitor would show different readings but I'm not sure if I'm $70+ curious just yet 😂

Ha sleepy time tea and melatonin here, too my man. My 6 year old is a sleep train wreck and I also swipe a few of him gummies when I need a little help 😂
@joshuaxruns2 ай бұрын
Literally the same way I came to start using melatonin for race day 😂 glad to hear I’m not the only one.

You can try some magnesium gummies for your little one too!
@joshuaxruns2 ай бұрын
Will have to try those. Thank you!

Hi! i should run Chicago 13. October (3h5min-10min) is there point to take creatin (never use it)? If I use it, should I stop before race?
@joshuaxruns2 ай бұрын
I think it’s really up to you if you want to take creatine. I provided a link and if you think the benefits are worth it, then give it a try. And you do not need to stop taking it prior to race day.

I’m pretty sure you do literally live or die by heart rate… Good video though 👌🏻

Thank you! And I agree I used to let HR dictate my pace with all of my runs but have moved away from that. I still am always aware of my HR during my runs, but no longer slow my runs for my HR.
