You and Jason have the hydraulic winch mounted on the log trailer and I really wish I had one! I may do something about that! I've modified the implements that are not "quick hitch" ready, so they are... Only exception is the offset flail mower, which puts a very significant upward push on the opposite 3pt lift arm. I park my little tractor as parallel as I can when I’m using my forestry winch- but I anchor it to the ground to mitigate the lateral torque. The trailer is a game changer- I can leave the tractor wherever I want and aim the boom to the log! It’s a great little upgrade! Thanks for watching joe! Blessings, Jeff

Thanks Jeff for sharing. Glad to see that we have many of the same top mods. I bought my Kioti CK4010 with backhoe and third function valve, 3 years ago. Since I planned on using the tractor in micro-forestry, I had them fill the tires and set them in the widest stance possible, greatly improving stability. When it was delivered, I fabricated a forestry roof very similar to yours before even thinking of going in the bush with the tractor. I also installed a fire extinguisher which I hope never having to use. I also purchased a Everything Attachment Wicked 55 grapple which I find extremely useful. It is so rugged that I suspect that I would damage my tractor before damaging the grapple. The backhoe has been very useful for trail maintenance and installing a 20'x3' culvert. I would love to install a belly plate for protection if I can find time to bring it back to the shop. The install might challenge my fabrication abilities as my backhoe slides in with a subframe which complicates protection plate design. When I was shopping for a tractor, I was not set on a specific brand but decided early on not to go for a John Deere because of their attachment not interchangeable with other brands. I eventually went with Kioti and after 300 hours over 3 years I do not regret my pick. One hydraulic pump issue which was covered by warranty. I do preventive maintenance and touch wood..... all is good

I assume the 4010 is a 40hp? That’s about the size of tractor I’ll be looking for next. I hear you about the proprietary JD quick attach loader implements- I didn’t really think about it when I bough my last tractor. But it made buying my current one a little easier because I had a few attachments already. I’ll probably go with JD again? I’ve had great service from the machines so far.

Yes the 4010 is a 40hp and mine has a manual transmission. I find it a good compromise of power and size for micro-forestry. However, its lift capacity is rated as 1631lbs which is a bit below the 2000lbs you are looking for

Good list. Agree that all 5 on the list are number one. 40hp seems to be the perfect size for a small forestry operation.

Jeff I started using a carbide tooth chain on my hakki easy 38. So far I'm on cord #25 with this chain. (Full cords) they are pricey but I'm happy with their performance. $60. Chris

I am happy you got you processor operating properly.I sell a lot of firewood also and we are using a commercial splitter and conveyor but it is hard work im in my early 50s .I worked as a mechanic my entire life ,i had my own shop like your self .I need a processor i wish i could talk to some one about the transition to one and brands etc.If i could get one that would handle 18" diam max i think that would do 85% of the wood i get .I buy wood from several large clearing outfits, but it is 8" to 24" diam they try and bring me the smaller size stuff .I want to add a saw mill for some summer work to round out my operation.

Sounds like we’re very similar! The next sized bigger processor than mine is an RCA480- which means it has a 480mm capacity. That’s almost 19”! That’s a money maker there!
