My first CRPG, in the modern(ish) sense was the first Fallout. I guess the one before that was Eye of the Beholder II on Amiga 500 but I think that doesn't count! Fallout was an amazing experience, and I was ecstatic when F2 came out. Still, for me Baldur's Gate is the first in line of really mind blowing CRPG experiences. And is the one I subconsciously compare every other (fantasy) CRPG that came after it. It's no wonder that all the recent games in the genre, are heavily influenced by BG. Also I like the reactivity of it all theres so many little variations in your choices and how people react to them, While you are a minion in the evil empire effectively you get so much freedom in how to be the minion from all different levels of evil to even playing outright good while remaining a minion of the evil empire through the power of knowing how to play with the word of law. Oh and I LOVE the magic system I want more games using the same or similar spell crafting system, Playing casters is my preferred way to play crpg's and that system is some of the most fun I have had playing a caster.

Tyranny is already on my wishlist, but with Wasteland I will wait till developer is done with patches and DLCs I don't know where to post it more appropriately so here are my recommendations based on your Steam account. From the games you already have: - Call of Cthulhu, I enjoyed the game (or rather visual novel) and it's easy to 100%, took me only 16h (also same main voice as Vampyr) - Mutant Year Zero - the fights get a bit repetitive after a time, in particular on highest difficulty, but overall nice game and not too hard to 100% - Kingdoms of Amalur - I played the original version, I found the flexible class system really fun. I have 160h recorded with DLC, but that's probably beyond 100% achievements Now for games you don't own yet: - Shadowrun Trilogy - I have only beat 2 out of 3 games so far, but already I can strongly recommend it. - Mars: War Logs - if you enjoyed Technomancer, you should like this too. I have beat Mars twice for 100% and enjoyed it. (also I tried Technomancer, twice I think, but somehow can't get into it)

CRPGs I would like to see: 1. Government corruption inspectors or private investigators in a high-magic setting like Eberron. Or something like: the imperial police have been taken over by "End of All Things" cultists, so the city decides to give the adventurers' guild public funding to deal with citizen requests and investigate corruption. 2. Apocalypse or "shit hits the fan" in a high magic technology setting, like a vampire disease pandemic. This could be the story in any other setting I'm listing here. 3. Magical girl anime (as a CRPG, not a JRPG) at a university in a setting similar to Shadowrun. A mage magical girl can form a "link" with a character who is not a magical girl to enhance that character's abilities or let the character cast spells. There's also a "weird science" skill tree centered on stuff like psionic caster abilities and mecha robots. 4. You're the immortal ruler of an extremely advanced high magic civilization with a process for training magical warriors. You must use a "management sim" interface to create and maintain an adventurer party and train them in a high-tech roguelike dungeon. Story missions occur in between dungeon training. There can be a mechanic like you get unlocks if characters die, you get rewarded if nobody dies on a quest but the next quest is harder, getting a party wipe means the next quest is easier, etc.

Planescape. BGII. Fallout (either 1 or Tactics). Honourable mention: Encased. I'm not far into it, but it's the first CRPG in a long time that's made me question whether I really need to work or see other humans IRL because it's all a distraction from the game. Morrowind doesn't get enough love from the newer gamers. I think it's the best balance of roleplaying game vs videogame from the series. Daggerfall, however, shows the full depth of the series where the map is so big it's still one if the biggest ever made, and the world is so rich you can legitimately play as a citizen and stop adventuring. The setting is so much deeper than the installments most people know about now. Ok, now... I have every CRPG going, and probably every version of each, so I'd like to geek out about a few of the games mentioned in the video. Solasta. I keep seeing it come up in these kinds of lists, praised for being a faithful if off label adaptation of 5E. To me that's not praise, and I'm a massive TTRPG geek who complains when things get changed in the adaptation process. If all anyone has to say about it is "crap story, but it's very DnD", why does it keep coming up in these lists? I bought it, but I've yet to play it. Divine Divinity. A game I've had since before I can remember where it came from, and I still have the big box copy to hand despite having it in several digital formats. Honestly, I'm really glad to see it here, I don't think many people outside of the fans of this channel know it exists. I can't say much about it that hasn't already been said, not least because despite my long held fandom I still learned a great deal more about it from watching this channel. Wasteland 3. I think to date the only crowdfunding project I've invested in was W2, and when I fired it up on the PS4 (I didn't have a working PC at the time) I got FO:Tactics vibes which couldn't have been a better initial reaction for me personally... except I quickly realised it was just me being excited and the game sucked so bad it felt like work to play. I resisted getting W3 for a while, but the reviews from people I trusted came in saying it was everything we wanted from 2, devs learned everything they did wrong with 2, it blows 2 out if the water... so I got it. I was stunned, it actually kicked ass! That FO:T thing I was looking for was there in spades, it had more classic humour AND better realism AND a new world to explore AAND it better showed a post apocalypse setting than I could have expected. You can see that it's the setting FO is based on, they've learnt a lot of lessons watching where FO went, and they've managed to show off why they're the OGs of the genre while making a distinct experience. It's not perfect by a long way, but blimey it's good! It's so good, I bought W1 original and remastered plus W2 on PC just in case W2 was only crap on PS4.

So I picked up Tyranny (DLCs not included) for like $7. I believe I am going to give this one a go 1st into my CRPG journey. Then afterwards come back to Divinty 2. I have owned it for a while but never really put too much time into it. After which I will purchase Pathfinder Wrath. I think by then I will be ready to tackel that monster of a game and not get lost in the sauce of it.

As I understand it, it was like that until they patched it in October 2020. For me personally, WL3 is #1. DOS2 was good but went a little crazy with the environments for my liking.

For me because I am too much a DnD purist Solasta is currently my favorite. I will not knock other CPRGs based the fact they don't necessarily follow 5e rules. That is my own personal limitation. I just hope that Solosta is popular enough to add additional campaigns.

For me, it's a toss up between the only 3 CRPGs I've ever played. Divinity: Original Sin 2, Wasteland 3, and Disco Elysium. All three are great in their own ways. Next I want to try either Pillars of Eternity or maybe Torment: Tides of Numenera. Great videos by the way!

I really wish my ancient as hell laptop was capable of handling Original Sin 2, but unlike most every other modern CRPG, that one really takes a toll on the poor thing. @@jjs5229 What are you talking about??? Virtually all the games I mentioned above are CRPGs (Computer Role Playing Games)!
@jjs52293 жыл бұрын
CRPG is has evolved to mean classic role playing games and are in the fashion of top-down, isometric role playing games in the vein of baldur’s gate, etc. games like ther Witcher are more akin to action role playing games
@@georgebennett715 Not going to argue about this. As per the link to the Wiki article I posted previously, for me, a CRPG is any computer game with RPG elements. That means so-called "action RPGs" like the Witcher 3 as well as more classic party-based RPGs like Baldur's Gate. If you interpret the term "CRPG" differently, that's your choice and fine with me.

I've been a gamer for over 40 years, and I hate to admit it, but I just get bored with games anymore. I've got dozens of hours in many of these games listed, Dragon age, Baldur's gate, Divinity, etc, but I just can't bring myself to finish them. Then when I do want to come back to them, I forget the mechanics and controls which turns me off even more. Honestly, it's rather frustrating. Which makes me appreciate you being able to complete a game 100% time and time again.
