Hello I am a subscriber and watch the Chanel often. Very peaceful and enjoyable. I want to mention with only respect , I just watched a video from a year ago hot tent and wood stove , it was a give away. In a hot tent you need a smoke detector not a Carbon monoxide detector . a carbon monoxide detector is for fuels such as propane , natural gas , propane mixed with other fuels, etc not wood. A carbon monoxide detector for wood will not work unless it is a combination smoke and carbon monoxide. All the best mark from Canada
@simonablokeinthewoods3 жыл бұрын
Interesting, are you saying a carbon monoxide detector will not detect carbon monoxide from solid fuel stoves?

Hi Simon and Andy. I thought I would throw out a little suggestion for content on your channels during your lockdown. Andy I enjoy the history content you like to add in to your 'on location' videos, and Simon you are a natural born story teller. Why don't you make some vids about interesting places or tramps. Maybe some stories from days gone by. why limit yourselves to present day stuff. There must be loads of interesting stories of treks from 100's of years back. How did the English Civil War soldier deal with life on the road? Maybe life in pre Iron Age Britain would throw up an interesting story to tell around a backyard campfire. Backyard campfire stories from you two guys would be awesome, and would keep your channels going while you can't get out and about. From New Zealand, stay safe guys. You'll get thru this - we did. Take care. - Ben.

Good video and really well presented. Does anyone know where I could get a rucksack modified/customised? I've hand stitched on a couple of webbing loops myself but they're not very neat. Tried the local clothes alteration service but the result is never quite what I want. I'd probably need an outdoor gear specialist to do what I want, which is to cut off the zipper pouches on the padded waist strap and replace with some webbing so I can use military style "molle" fitment pouches, water bottle holder, etc. I've looked at military rucksacks but they are too military style and without the comfort of consumer packs.

I agree, we should support our UK companies/manufacturers but many of the products they sell are made in China and other countries. For instance the blanket featured (sold by Outhaus) is made in india.
@simonablokeinthewoods3 жыл бұрын
Yes, often products are manufactured abroad, due to high demand - Outhaus is owned and run by Ollie - just him - he has to outsource production (in this case to India) as he can’t meet the demand with production in the UK - that doesn’t make Outhaus any less British - all designed and tested here. 👍

Well I first watched this 2 years ago and have been lusting after a TJM Metalworks “pocket fire anchor” and the “original pan mini fire anchor” ever since!😩🤔. I’m very happy to say I’ve finally forked out for both, can’t wait to get to use it!😁🔥🔥 I’ve also had a titanium honey stove with the extension “hive”. That is absolutely brilliant, so light, it lives in my backpack permanently. With the extension, it is the perfect size for a campfire, I rarely have a fire on the ground nowadays, there’s no need and it’s so easy to clean up after with no ugly scar on the ground, I highly recommend it. I also have a firebox which I love but rarely take nowadays due to the weight, I’ve been on the lookout for a titanium one, but the one place that sold them no longer has any and I begrudge paying the ridiculous postal charges for one from America, so……☹️

Simon, after seeing your video with the TJM Metalworks grill and pot handle swing arm some time ago, I got the gear from them through etsy. I'd like your advice on what type of mallet/hammer/force tool you might use to help setting up this wonderful wrought iron grill and pieces. Southwestern US developed campgrounds have heavily trampled dirt, compacted, and yet brittle enough to turn into dust when shoveled. I don't want to marr the metal and ruin the gear on it's first use. Help?
