My Total Review of MLP G5. The Great, The Rotten, and the Alright. [MLP G5 Analysis]

after a couple months of procrastinating, I got something done. I am happy for it.
as this isn't exactly a theory video, I feel like it was best to talk about my thoughts and share them here as a creator that talks about this franchise in the first place. this series has meant a lot to me ever since I first laid my eyes on it and it took my heart fully, so I'd figure talking about how I feel about it and where it's headed would be a good thing to get out there. as for theories, I have them in the works so watch out for em. thank you all deeply for your patience on these videos, I appreciate every single one of y'all.

I agree, the errors must be pointed out, but that does not mean that the entire series is bad and cannot be enjoyed, because like FIM, it has many errors but the series is good in general and with many ups and downs

06:20 Earlier in the movie, a fat stallion (Sweets?) tells Hitch that every (earth) pony has sign "The Sprout Act" [so, they can not talk about their military procedures, not even to the sheriff]. -> It is likely the case that Sprout is himself legally protected (for everything he did) that day. Because the Lightouse was destroyed by a machine made by Canterlogic, the assets of the enterprise were taken as payment for the repairs/upgrades [the Zephyr Heights crown likely providing the tech/expertise], with some concessions regarding future joint ventures (Jazz owns the land, Rocky & Pipp the franchise of "Mane Melody").

For 30:01, from how I understand it, it all relates around the Hub. In some shape or form, Discovery channel owns a certain half of G4's seasons and Hasbro owns the other. I can't remember which side owns which, but one company doesnt own the full rights to certain characters during certain seasons. But Discovery isn't selling their half and no one wants to get into a legal confrontation. Maybe they're working out a deal and thats part of mym's end for rn. Probably not but it's cool to dream. I dont know the full details, my source is trust me bro, but I hope it explains something. I know there is some legal dispute because Discovery and Hasbro split ownership of G4 till the Hub's end, if I remember everything right. Cool video tho, hope you keep going with video making.

A New Generation was amazing, IMO the execution afterwards with MYM, TYT, the shows in general... I definitely saw MYM improving with each chapter, and TYT I do enjoy a lot, but there definitely was a lot missing that IMO could have taken it from "getting better and better," to "something awesome in its own right." When it comes to the future, I guess what I'd say I wish for is ... people working on it who have either a passion for the franchise, or will absolutely enjoy working on it, who have a knack for story telling, for planning and detail, as well as a desire to make a show that anyone can ejoy, AND truly understood what made FiM appeal SO widely WHILE doing something new (AND honestly I wish Hasbro would back off a little bit and let the creators create with as little corporate meddling as possible). Whilst it wouldn't make a future gen an instant success, it would absolutely help guide it towards being something that, like FiM, can be groundbreaking AND enjoyed by everyone - WHILE not just rehashing FiM. People will say "but it won't be like FiM - nothing will" - problem is, that IMO is an unrealistic bar to set. It doesn't have to be explosively big like FiM to be "successful," and certainly don't need it to be FiM suddenly-big to be something that people can enjoy, and a fandom can grow around it. The sudden success of FiM may have well been an accident, but it being so enjoyable and having a wide appeal, IMO, was not - and the factors that lead to it are absolutely not limited to FiM (well written, planned out well, people who really loved what they are doing, and had a relatively high degree of creative freedom, for instance).

Great job on making a balanced and fair G5 review, while still keeping it positive. While I may not agree with some things (i.e: I think “Ali-Conned” is actually pretty underrated and that Chapter 6 was overall an awesome finale to MYM), I still do see the reasoning behind a lot of your points. Honestly, people should take notes from the conclusion you came to. Don’t abandon G5 just because you have issues with it. Focus on what it does right, which is something a lot of people seem to miss. Major kudos to you for choosing to stick with this generation despite your personal gripes with certain elements. It’s got its flaws, sure, but the good far outweighs the bad imo and while some people couldn’t see that, you do. You have the maturity that so many others don’t and that’s why I love watching you. That, and the fact that your theories are very well thought out. As for the cliffhanger thing you mentioned, well, it’s pretty clear at this point that the only purpose of “Secrets of Starlight” in the long run was to serve as a pilot for Tell Your Tale Season 2 as Allura’s going to be the next big bad of this season (the first episode “Icy Prints” does actually confirm that), and while the choice to end a show on a cliffhanger like that does come off as questionable from an outsider’s perspective, I can at least kinda see what they’re doing with this being only one chapter in a much larger story. Honestly, with how good TYT S2 has gotten so far and the amount of potential its shown with Episodes 1, 5, and 6, I think you’re going to have a great time with this show if the writers keep up this forward momentum. Again, major props to you. :)

this was a enjoyable review to watch. even if i have other opinions, cuz, in the movie they shows that, they could explain things about the past equestria, instead of add more stories, mix up some facts, and mess most of the necessary things we needed. most of the things that let me angry about the series is bc of Sunny's alicorn form's plot, the development about the past equestria, and about the entire plot behind Opaline that, for me, didn't worked well. and i hope that, if they make a season two of MYM, they can ACTUALLY get into what really matters, that is the past equestria, about the existance of Unity crystals, and maybe, we can see what happened to the mane 6 (and yea im sure that opaline isn't dead)

It's sad that a lack of explanation for why the ponies separated killed your hype for Chapter 6. I personally always believed that it was good to leave to interpretation. With the time skip, we see Equestria become a society similar to our own, and ANG really puts modern problems that further drive division into the forefront. I've always believed that the implication just like in our society, it's a buildup of many small problems that came over the years that drove ponies apart. It doesn't really need a heavy reveal or anything. You only really touched on that first episode and I wish that you gave your thoughts on the actual conclusion with Opaline since that's the meat and potatoes of that chapter. I thought it used what was previously set up pretty well and I personally found the climax satisfying.

Yeah, I feel much the same! After getting hooked on G4 after it had already ended, then watching it all, I was left wanting more magic, and G5 is what came next! So... my hopes have stayed alive through all the clumsy bits. I don't mind TYT so much, but the 5 minute runtime after waiting a whole week (or more) is like having to restart your car at every traffic light. x.x

I kind of want to see G5 attempt an equestria girls series. Seriously. I want to see if they make the humans in a futuristic society, or if they just haven't advanced. Maybe their universe got put on pause, or maybe it merged with the FIM universe to create what we know in G5, maybe the equestria girls universe has the midevil stuff from G4. You could do ANYTHING with it, seriously. Equestria Girls didn't make sense to begin with! They can mess around all they want!

The only issue I have with G5 is that whenever I take the bigger world into consideration, or think about it for to long, it starts to give me an overbearing feeling of desolation, so much so that I find it very difficult to get immersed into the world and its stories. Can't really "get into the zone" as it were. All of those adventures, escapades, shenanigans, all of the trials and tribulations, all of those world-shaking events... Now nothing more than myths, legends, and tall tales... Forgotten to the sands of time...

I hate when people say that g5 is wasted potential but straight up talk about g4 I mean do they care about the g5 characters and could g5 do with them? nope it's just excuse to hate g5 and while g5 isn't perfect it's makes me angry that they always focus on the negative parts and decided it's bad and move on to do other things or act as if g4 is the best show of my little pony.

Ty for this G5 although different and maybe a bit more rushed then were used to is actually more ok than I thought at first I think my main problem is bringing all the new style stuff and Hasbro themselves getting rid of the original type of work and workers that even led to G5s creation in the actual first place but that may just be my 90s style brain chiming in I'm cool with newer tactics of art and animation and new voice tech but not getting rid of completely everything and everyone who ever made all this awesome new stuff possible in the first place but that just my opinion on it lol XD 😅 😂

30:03 I *think* I might actually know the answer to this one? They own a lot of things in G4 but some things actually belong to individual writers, maybe? I am assuming that this works approximately how it did several decades ago in live action, where Star Trek: Voyager used the same actor as in a TNG episode, for a very similar character, but changed him somewhat to not pay royalties to the writer of that episode. Big things used a lot are owned by the studio but little things from one episode can be owned by the writer. (I think? Thatʼs the common story but I also heard it might not be true, and again I donʼt know how much thatʼs applicable to a different series by a different company in a different millennium in a different *medium* for a different audience.)

I really want hasbro to just make a new universe that’s not connected to g4 at all. I’m ready for brand new characters that aren’t supposed to be similar to the g4 mane 6. I think it would be cool to keep Luna and Celestia though since they are such interesting characters. I would maybe keep them but create a different universe with different characters, and maybe some characters thrown in from different gens. Maybe keep Spike or another dragon to tag along with the gang again since there’s always been one in every gen. There was a specific concept for g5 that I really liked, which was the mane six in like a Viking-esc aesthetic world. Their cutie marks looked more like cave drawings and more ancient, I think that could be a really cool idea. I also liked another concept idea where Twilight was an earth pony, Fluttershy was a unicorn and Pinkie was a Pegasus. I think it would be cool to maybe keep the mane 6 for g6 but change some of their pony types, and obviously change the story a bit too. But honestly I would really like to just see something completely different for g6.

I know it has a lot of issues, but I still found it really enjoyable and it had a lot of good episodes and parts to it. The problem with the G5 Haters is that it seems that they only watch the series, to point out the errors and repudiate them (without appreciating the good) when FIM also had many problems, but still, we all enjoyed them. Generation 5 needs the following villains: 1. A race of demons from another dimension bent on invading the entire world and replacing friendship, harmony and love with terror, suffering and hatred. 2. A divine entity who deems the world full of evil and seeks to eradicate evil entirely... by threatening to destroy the world. 3. A dormant primordial being who will potentially destroy the world should it ever wake up. 4. A bounty hunter sent to get rid of Sunny and her friends under orders of a mysterious individual. 5. A nation of militaristic ponies who claim it's wrong for ponykind by all three tribes to be separated, for they are the dominant race in the world and intend to enforce the dominance by deporting all non-ponies worldwide off-world.

Things they should change - sunny being the only alicorn (make misty one too), go back to 20 minute episodes instead of 5 minute ones per week, give it more action

The creators of MLP the new generation will still be responsible for the murder of the heroes of the original series and for devaluing the whole morality, the whole meaning of the series. They destroyed and scored figs on what happened in the original series and tried to assign it to the 5th generation due to the popularity of the 4th generation. They want to assign all the glory and all the merits of the heroes of the original series to the new heroes. Although most of them-except Misty-didn't deserve them. To create the 5th generation, the authors decided to create it this way - to destroy everything that the heroes of the 4th generation did, and then kill them and fill Equestria with blood - the main characters and inhabitants of Equestria. And then, to create new heroes who will become, with some fright, the heirs of the heroes of the last generation. And they're trying to make the audience love them. And to make this happen, the authors killed the heroes of the last generation, destroyed their works - exposing them as useless - or, like Spike, made morons who can do nothing without the help of the heroes of the new generation. Excuse me. Can somebody confirm to me that Make Your Mark has been canceled in favor of Tell Your Tale(🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮)? Because I really wanted MYM to keep going. I mean, it, despite definetely not reaching FIMs majesty, became a worthy successor after ,,Roots of all evil". And there was much material with which to continue it. Under a new name. Not a reebot. A sequel. I would like that. TYT just sucks. It is to FIM what Rise of TMNT is to TMNT 2012. Unworthy of carrying on the franchise. So can somebody tell me if MYM is gonne forever or will they return it?
